who are the staple DiS bands?
those what most of you/general indie bumsnoggers almost universally love, like Sonic Youth, Radiohead, etc...
sure this has been done a hundred times, so feel free to link me up to said threads of so.

This
Plus St. Vincent?
Nice addition of Aphex Twin to make DiS users look more edgy than they actually are.
Aphex, edgy??
The Electric Six
I don't particularly like Radiohead
Sigur Ros, Nick Cave, The National, Burial and Mogwai are probably more universally loved 'round these parts.
But basically anything lotsa people love is hated in equal measure, so it's hard to find things which sit respectfully in the middle of that...
a hurr a durr The National a durr
dubsteppy
Pavement
Any of those fucking animal / parts of animal named bands
Animal Collective
Grizzy Bear
Frightened Rabbit
The Antlers
Deer Hoof
Wild Beasts
etc. etc. etc. etc.
And The National.
All basically shitehouses.
what a pile of cunt you talk
Guns 'n' Roses
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
That's not the impression that I get.
Either that's brilliant....
... or I'm pissed
Possibly both
I pitch 'em up, you bat 'em away...
Any band which
our not so middle class friends from school would describe as 'indie' or 'boring'.
The National.
The Walkmen
Liked by quite a few, loved by less, and not a staple
the cure
i wouldnt think many people on here dislike the cure
I think there's a sizeable rouge element of us
that find them so fucking dull
this is the thread for naked cynicism after all!
*mauve element
I don't think that many are massive fans of The Cure tbh

New Black Bear F*cker & Th' 1967 Little Red Cold Young Crystal Deer Bells

No, no, you've misunderstood
He means bands like The Hothouse Flours and Vanilla Rice.
Wheatus?
Bread
The Pasta-ls
Rick pAstaley
Not really a staple is it?
Unless you make a lot of tabouleh

it's pretty funny to remember that this thread about INDIE BELLENDS was started by a massive fan of the DRUMS
I'd tell you but you won't have heard of them
I have heard of them
and I was into them long before you were.
Well I prefer their earlier stuff
Their earlier stuff is shit.
The stuff they did before they were even in a band is much better. But you probably haven't heard it.
Haven't heard of it?
Man, I've got it on Japanese import, limited edition to 10 prints, pink vinyl.
oh man
the demoes of that stuff was much better than what they eventually recorded.
Late of the Pier, seemingly
as recently we've been having "where have they gone?!" threads about them on an almost daily basis.
they're the best thing to happen to charting indie in recent years, probably
add that to a mysteriously and unfortunately curtailed career and there's yer justification
samuel dust's career with connan mockasin is producing equally good or perhaps even better music, though, so there's not much point complaining
i'm presuming you're still a teenager/were a teenager when LOTP first came out
it's really not amazing music. it's alright, some of it is pretty good, but it's not worth the praise that the younger users of this board pour upon it. I'd hardly call it "charting indie" either, none of the singles charted, the album got into the top 30 I think which is okay i guess.
Los Campesinos
no
I like them, fwiw
but they split the boards down the middle.
Deerhunter
surely?
Do you mean 187?
UK Apache along di Shy FX
And when we come it's murderation!

Zinc. Big crossover track.

There was a massive thread with hundreds of replies a few years ago
where you put a band name up and if anybody didn't like them they put a reply underneath the band. So any band without a reply would be considered a universally liked DIS band. It went on a fair few days and I don't remember a single band not getting somebody that didn't like them. Think that kinda said it all about DIS and the differing tastes everybody has.
