I love Mark Kozelek. Some great song titles there too.
All nylon string too, again. Alesund from the last lp is so great, listen to that all the time.
Ludicrous song titles. Has be completely flipped this time. I'm slightly concerned about the number of songs though, and titles like 'Track Number 8' and 'UK Blues 1' / 'Uk Blues 2' makes me dread this might be chocker with filler. But I love him, so we'll see.
Sun Kil Moon's first record was ace and some of his weird ACDC / Modest Mouse covers LPs were great too. I do worry however that his best stuff is behind him, his last LP didn't amaze me and I really worry that this will be a crock of shite.
His solo and Sun Kil Moon stuff is clearly better than the Red House Painters material. 'April' and '7 Songs Belfast' are amongst the best things he's done.
I'm a huge fan of his, but i'd go so far as the call the RHP stuff dull, though i know i'm in the minority there (amongst people who like him like, i'm sure those who don't would say all of his stuff's pretty MOR).
to be considered MOR.
His music is beautifully understated.
RHP's early work is ten times more distinctive than anything he's released since
My favourite of his albums are the two bizarrely titled Live albums, Little Drummer Boy and White Christmas, where the back catelogue gets a solo workout. Some of the more forgettable RHP song like 'Cruiser' are turned into masterpieces on that.

I can't really choose between Rollercoaster and Ghosts of the Great Highway as my favourite,
