I don't remember there being drums in Coldplay's 'Don't Panic', but that might not be due to anything other than faulty memory.

I love playing 'New England' on my geetar. can't quite pull of the requisite cockney accent, so it doesn't sound right when I sing it. ace song, though.

I really like the Ramleh album 'Grudge For Life' that is a pretty normal noise rock album with good riffs but no drums. And the new Howling Hex album has no drums. Only heard one song but I quite like it

never bothered to check them out before. love Royal Trux and Pussy Galore; I guess I ignored HH because Pitchfork always gives them mediocre 6.something scores. damn you, Pitchfork|!

I always expect HUGE drums to suddenly EXPLODE out of those songs in the last few seconds, but they never do. They never do.

I really like the HH/NMH stuff I have. He has his own weird style that required a bit of listening to make sense for me but now that it does he seems pretty singular and unique to me! Would definitely recommend 'Neil Michael Hagerty Plays That Good Old Rock & Roll' as a nice starting point. It does have drums though that one.

Have you listened to the new Jennifer Herrema stuff as Black Bananas? I don't think I like it very much :(

The bassist from Melvins/Cows has a new band that was almost like a tribute to it Sunn -> Earth style. Before he got drums. They're called Hepa/Titus. Dunno about the name mind.

It’s not like the name could be misconstrued into being a negative reference to people with Down ’s syndrome.

I wonder how much that Sunn O))) riff changes simply with the addition of drums.

The bits that sound like drums is just Jonny doing 'clever stuff' on his guitar

there was a version i saw on tv (bbc2 music program probably some time in the late 90's, can't remember which one) which was just iggy playing guitar and that's the version i always associate with the song.

i can't find anything about it online (and given the level of deconstruction given to radiohead songs, you'd think it'd be there)

there's also the fact that it really obviously sounds like drums, and phil is credited as percussion on the song credits.

The rhythm guitar basically was the drums and bass.

I just find it interesting when bands go out of their way to prove that key requirements are not needed, but in doing so, prove that they are needed..

Not as much as a lot of other records, and it does have stretches with more tambourine etc than drums, but they're there. Waiting For The Man and All Tomorrow's Parties both have very prominent drums, for instance.

That's why Phil Elverum released 'The Drums from "No Flashlight" by Mt. Eerie'. What you have to do is simulataneously play '"No Flashlight"...' and 'The Drums...' side-by-side, so you can hear what the songs on '"No Flashlight"...' sound like with drums. Sneeky Phil Elverum, trying to get you to spend more money on his albums.
