January is over. What's your album of the month? "First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar" is mine.
The new Chairlift album has got great reviews from most people and for me it is indeed a very good album. I'd give it 8 out of 10. However, the new First Aid Kit album is simply brilliant. I must have heard it through 10-15 times in the last week. Have I missed any other good releases in January?

Errors
Chairlift
not heard too many
but really like given to the wild
i like that islet album
haven't heard many though
Either Chairlift or Errors from me.
Rather addicted to the First Aid Kit
album as well. Just has a really charming quality that's got me hooked.
Cloud Nothings
is my fave.
probably Errors
but it's been a very slow month
I agree with ERRORS
but I disagree that its been a slow month. Been a bit bloody insane. Although a lot of it has been tracks from forthcoming albums http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4317730 - The Shins, Perfume Genius, School of Seven Bells, etc...
Was pleasantly surprised by the Maccabees album.
Adore the Chairlift album.
Thought the FOE record was a brilliant debut - almost exactly what I've hoped a british act would do for quite some time, pulling together our suburban sadness and instead of gushing, sandblasting it with snark and guitars and squelchy synths.
Been some good EPs too from: Crosses and Matthew Dear especially
Playlist: http://open.spotify.com/user/seaninsound/playlist/0yRtEJW2S5TRVQ8iqL0A2f
5 Starving Weirdos: Land Lines
4 Islet: Illuminated People
3 Henny Moan: The Coming Thaw
2 Richard Youngs: Amaranthine
1 Standard Fare: Out Of Sight, Out Of Town
Richard Youngs - Core to the Brave
he released 2 this month??
Yes, this one's on Root Strata
Saw him once supporting Beirut in Glasgow
I've never seen a crowd be so confused by a support act. It didn't go well.
The Caretaker's Patience (After Sebald) is great too.
Yup, the First Aid Kit album gets my vote too
I prefer the second Aid Kit one
ScHoolboy Q - Habits & Contradictions
EXTRA PILLS!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwF8ydOE6To
Either The Darcy's cover of 'Aja' or Hospitality's record.
Both are really interesting, and in the case of the former, surprising.
Either Django Django or Islet
got 9 and 7 here respectively...think both deserve an 8 myself. The Boats record was a good find.
really liking the Django Django record
only heard it for the first time yesterday and Beta Band vibez are alright in my book!
You know it's the brother
Of John Maclean from the Beta's?
That must be one mad psychadelic family!
Porcelain Raft - Strange Weekend
although Django Django might overtake it given time.
It's 1st February, several potentially great albums were released just 2 days ago!
Ask me in a month and I might have an idea as to what my Album of January is, but I guess by then no-one will care (not that anyone would really care now)as everyone will be talking about their 'Album of February'.
Errors and RM Hubbert
errors
only heard a few others. Django Django probably a contender based on what i've heard of it.
GBV & Porcelain Raft
Born to Die.
Not even kidding, I heard it in full for the first time yesterday and really really liked it.
First Aid Kit is nice
But dagnammit the singer sounds like Alela Diane. Has no one else thought this?
Given to the Wild
has had the most plays, heavy rotation in my car
Only got Errors yesterday but enjoying it, First Aid Kit not on spotify yet so haven't got round to it
The Lion's Roar
is now back on spotify.
*achieves nirvana*
You what they say about only boring people getting bored...
As we speak...
I'm trying to think of the best thread to provoke you into saying something to get yourself banned. Because there's no real point to you
What music do you actually like?
I don't think I have ever seen you say anything positive about any music whatsoever. Except Ed Sheeran...
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4274537
well you could either blame people on here or recognise that maybe you are at fault for spending too much time on a site that isn't aimed at your specific tastes
Guided by Voices
followed by Mull Historical Society - criminally ignored
I agree with...
....Sean, FOE & Chairlift for me, both records of the week on my new weekend in review column on http://www.spotimy.co.uk
First Aid Kit good too, but not had a chance yet to listen to this weeks releases.
Radical Face - The Family Tree: The Roots
First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar
Schoolboy Q - Habits & Contradictions
Vit Päls - Nånstans Ska Man Va
Going to listen to Liberteer's "Better To Die On Your Feet Than Live On Your Knees" to see if it's any good...
Saw radical face in London last week. Superb band. Fans of Bright Eyes and Bon Iver come together and get it on!
Discovered the album this week then noticed that they played here last week. Damn it.
Yeah: Errors - Have Some Faith In Magic
Also: The Maccabees - Given to the Wild.
Going to check out First Aid Kit based on this thread.
Screen Vinyl Image - Strange Behaviour
it came out at the end of December, does it count?
thick fuzz, noise, shoegaze, electronic beats. similar to the Soft Moon. really good.
Pop.1280 - The Horror. Similar to Screen Vinyl Image I guess, but more post-punk, wiry, hollow-eyed. Released on Sacred Bones last week.
Robel Synthesia - Midnight Polaroids EP. Just released his third free ep/album. He's getting better each time, this one is full of nice solid beats with momentum. Electronic/post-chillwavey stuff. Get it free from hom http://robelsynthesia.bandcamp.com/album/midnight-polaroids

Chairlift.
It's the only one I've bought or heard so far.
Put Your Back N 2 It - Perfume Genius.
Learning was beautiful, but this is just something else.
Where can I listen to it?
dead excited.

2. The Maccabees - Given To The Wild
3. First Aid Kit - The Lions Roar
4. Pulled Apart By Horses - Tough Love
5. FOE - Bad Dream Hotline
Cate Le Bon - Cryk
Lovely stuff...
Sorry. Cyrk....
Isengrind: Night of Raining Fire
I know the word magical gets thrown around alot with natural snow buildings projects but it probably is the best word for it
http://blackestrainbowrecords.bandcamp.com/track/spine-of-the-night
Absolutely loving the errors album
Currently considering whether or not to invest in Django Django album.
yes you should
ok, I will
This is probably not the thread to have a grumble about First Aid Kit in
is it?
grumble
Given To The Wild
ALTHOUGH, It's the only new album I've bought this month. But it's fucking great anyway.
