This story is amazing:
(Sorry for just pasting an article from FACT, but it's that good.)
But this seems a bit more legit. Then again, Zomby's always been a complete belm, so that hardly surprises me. But considering this was one of my favourite things he'd ever 'produced', it does seem a bit disappointing that he seems to have just lifted the whole fucking track.
all this stuff is hilarious fwiw
The track is down as "Zomby/Reark"
Dunno if that's just happened or what
to some of the other stuff on that Reark guy's soundcloud page and it's all pretty rubbish/different in comparison though?
You can't beat a bit of Zomby drama.
That this would be about Zomby soundtracking an episode of Eastenders or Coronation Street.
Thoroughly disappointed when it just turned out to be another Zomby is a dick story.
Sounds like a bit of a fucking pudding to me.
As Rhymenocerous pointed out the rest of this Reark guys stuff is pretty shit. Surely the extent of the plagiarism isn't as much as this Reark guy has made out. I can only assume what he's said is true regarding the 'Zomby collaborating / not taking giving him credit' but I'd imagine Rearks input was minimal (even if it started the process)
Doesn't excuse Zomby for not originally giving him at least a linear note credit, but the guy has a pretty out of whack ego so it's hardly surprising in a genre of 'sampling' he didn't deem it necessary.
I reckon 4AD credited him (regardless of how near the finished song his version was) simply to avoid law suite / losing money as it sounds the credit was wanted for artistic rather than financial reasons.
To an extent.
that if the Reark version on his Soundcloud is the work he claims he actually did, it's pretty damn close to the Zomby version.
since it's the right attitude to have.
'ZombyMusic ZOMBY ®
So any guy crosses a ball and the striker volleys it into the top corner who takes credit for the goal. Get me'
think he's deleted that.
You think twitter's crazy you should come to a bar with me
the more i think he sounds liek the axl rose of the dubstep/whatever world, sounds liek a cunt
You go nandos cuz u think its grime related
Don't worry about me I could walk out on any forecourt and buy any car today worry about yourself.
where he gets all his money from. His twitter (and various interviews) makes it sound like he's rolling in dollar.
lady gaga paid him a shitload to use one of his songs during the interval on her last tour
Brilliant if true.
Zomby's first major release was the Zomby EP in 2007 on Hyperdub. In 2008, he released a full length album, Where Were U in '92?, inspired by the rave scene of the early 1990s. This was followed by a subsequent collection of tracks, One Foot Ahead of the Other, in 2009.
In 2011, he released Dedication on the 4AD label. In a four-star review in The Guardian, it was described as "an album of pensive, thought-provoking sadness," drawing comparisons to pianist Keith Jarrett and 1990s techno act Spooky. Later that year, he released the Nothing EP.
He is also a thief, and stole Rearks song 'Natalia's Song', added a simple drum beat and released it as his own work.
