and all his aliaseseses... Luomo etc. Where do i start listening to his stuff? Many thanks
Luomo: Vocalcity, obviously, though the new one, Plus, is also really good.
I also highly recommend the Vladislav Delay Quartet s/t LP, it's unlike anything he has done to date, electro-acoustic free-jazz/noise/improv.
And one more Vladislav Delay release I really like: Tummaa, similar to the VDQ album, though not as noisy.
Hope this helps you a little bit. Enjoy.
Bullet, but i tracked this down and have downloaded it. Seems ok... http://14tracks.com/selections/75-isolating_the_future_skank_of_vladislav_delay Came out in Sep 09 so misses some of newer stuff. Not sure of Vantaa myself (yet) but liked what I heard of Multila and Luomo's Plus. The fella himself rates Luomo's Convivial as his fav under that moniker.
the collabs with AGF are worth checking too.
& i wouldn't say the vladislav delay quartet record was anymore 'his' music than the moritz von oswald trio, since both was largely formed around improv (i think) ... and the former to me, feels more like a mika vainio/lucio capece record but ummm, yeh so listen to moritz von oswald too is my point
I think I prefer it to his more structured stuff...
also if you have a decent set of speakers, crank it. the bass is like little else...very rumbly. lovely stuff,
Now i have a bevvy of knowledgeable folk reading this, and seeing as I've just got hold of that 14 tracks playlist/album from Boomkat, perhaps I can be cheeky enough to pick your brains for a similar highlights package of his Luomu stuff? Seems like picking up 'Vocalcity' in its entirety is a no brainer, but what other tracks would you recommend...
1999 release, very stripped-back, has a more primitive feel to it and isn't quite as clinical as some of his other stuff.
