still pretty bummed about it tbh
Intense performer! Both times I saw him he put more sweat and stuff into it than most. And the audience went appropriately nuts. Great songs as well. If i'm being positive at least he's left a HUGE discography behind. So prolific.
Really glad I made it to see him on what ended up to be his last uk tour, the venue was really quiet, but he still went out and put everything into the gig. A lot of bands and artists could learn a lot from his drive to put out records, as it was said, he left a massive discography behind as his legacy. RIP Jay
he was for real, and i totally miss his presence in the music scene
I own almost all his back catalogue, on vinyl.
I went nuts for him around the Blood Visions time. Bought up everything I could. Took a lot of hunting around.
I remember fondly bidding on those ever increasingly limited Matador 7's. Looking back it was a lot of fun. The series got more popular as word spread and it went on, all while the editions were decreasing in number. Quite exciting. Never got the last one in the series.
Do check out his older stuff. The Reatards put out some great records, and Lost Sounds were fantastic too. Between those two there was probably his best work. He was involved in other projects too, like Final Solutions etc. It was all pretty great.
Doesn't seem that long ago...
