I don't think there's ever been a more disappointing album than serafin's second album.
Pretend it never happened. Seriously. It's for your own good.
The Unbelievable Truth
We Are Scientists
like Kasabian/Nickelback, I'd doubt you'd be so effusive.
The Unbelievable Truth and Lowgold
lost count of the amount of times i saw that band live.
I think it was just before Christmas, maybe in 2003
Only saw them in various parts of yorkshire
Was going to say exactly the same thing. According to wiki they're still going, but I have a feeling they'll always be a one album band.
miles benjamin anthony robinson
Joy Zipper. Where have they gone? Two incredibly strong albums and a great EP, then nothing.
I represent 50% of Joy Zipper fans in the south-east! Great band
If not, then you have made me far too excited at the prospect of a hitherto unknown album!
how I miss them! I read somewhere that they are still recording together but ... maybe that's vain hope.
If you haven't heard Joy Zipper people - explore. Kevin Shields stamp of approval.
Sorry to massively disappoint you :-(
pull you collective fingers out Joy Zipper
Probably been busy making babies and other such normal couple shit. You bastards.
Where have they gone? Incidentally, Ghostpoet is leading a twitter campaign to find them, he retweeted me and everything (and about 500 other people but nevermind that). Been listening to Fantasy Black Channell all day- what an album!
DJing here and watching Pearson Sound there. they always are friendly when people field questions but the answer's largely the same: "we will convene at some point but we're happy doing our separate projects for the moment"
they will miss the boat soon if they haven't already :(
great mini album, so-so album then never to be seen again! Apart from a quick cameo on the Kick Ass soundtrack... they had so much potential
Working on a new album apparently
They were awesome.
I thought that Jo Whiley was the only person that liked them - until now!
They broke up didn't they? I flipping loved them
They seemed to appear, make a 10/10 album, then go silent.
there was also a couple of EPs i think prior to the album, one was a free download and the other was a 10" i think
Some really nice stuff on the first album. Second album was horrible. Then they vanished.
all days is listen to them and put on a variety of Easyworld Merchandise. Which is awesome.
Do Wolf Parade count? I miss them so hard.
The Freedom Spark still remains as one of my favourite albums I think aswell.
Saw them three times, listened to their album quite a bit- utterly embarrassing. Some of the worst lyrics I have ever heard.
His only contributions are either "Why do people like this band? They're awful" or "They're southerners and thus are SHIT and MAKE ME SICK, AAAAAAAAAAAARGH LONDON"
Geneva (ooh, that album Weather Underground)
The second has their 2 best songs, but is patchy.
I found it a shame that Andrew Montgommery always stated he felt ashamed of having been in Geneva.
Andrew Montgomery said he felt ashamed of being in Geneva? When did he say that?! If that is true, then that is a shame.
he said something like "I'm Andre Montgommery, I used to be in a band called Geneva, but don't hold that against me."
There's a finished second Fields album sitting around somewhere, apparently.
One mini album, one single. And gone. But oh what promise
a post-Delphic Mancunian electronica wave. Obviously not
they were always more kooky and original than Delphic and their ilk anyway, so maybe the sales would just never have stacked up
Wikipedia says they have a new album out in April.
Their website says they're working on new stuff, but there's no date on the article so it doesn't say when.
It's called Clay Class but it doesn't say when it is out. This month I'm guessing as it's in this month's edition.
I didn't know that, I had Google open. I love how that first album came out on EMI.
anything else ever released by EMI. <3 PDS
Up there as one of the worst live bands I've ever seen.
never wanted to metaphorically slap the art school smarm off a face so hard before
Thousand Yard Stare
MY BLOODY VALENTINE
I saw them live.
supporting Blur. Horrendous.
The rest of them are now in a totally different band called 'Toy' - seen supporting The Horrors at pretty much every show they did last year.
The riots episode.
Meet Me In St Louis
Hope of the States
Always thought some of their best material was their b-sides
One of the very best b-sides bands I know of.
I got their album from the library and really enjoyed it (not album of the year or anything, just some nice ska tinged guitary stuff). Occasionally I would google them at work, but their name is also a star wars character so it was really hard to filter the results, and all the hits for the actual band were sites like Myspace and facebook which were blocked.
One day I finally put a bit of effort into my search terms and it turned out they had only put out the one album and broken up before I'd ever listened to it. Shame that.
Cars as Weapons. Really poppy post-hardcore - ala Neon Handshake-era Hell is for Heroes. Won some competition to have Walter Schriefels produce their EP. Made it, it was blinding, dropped off the face of the earth.
Saw them suppoting Hell is For Heroes, and bought the EP the following day.
Oh, and Oasis
(and plays guitar for Stalking Horse)
were the kind of band who had tonnes of cracking demos then the album was a bit of a let down
but they always felt like OUR band somehow. I suppose that's why I still love them.
kent, singing in english that is.
The Casket Lottery
Able Baker Fox
The Copperpot Journals
can tempt brandon / brendan / barry (which ever brother left) back
Sian Alice Group
Make Good Your Escape
Red House Painters
Essentially morphed into Sun Kil Moon, and also Mark Kozelek's solo stuff is essentially the same also. Still releasing a ridiculoud amount of cracking stuff.
familiar with Kozeleks solo stuff, which is great, but still prefer the Painters output. Haven't listen to Sun Kil Moon mind, thanks for the heads up
are they still together? Can't be, surely?!
Saw their last show in Oxford. It was brilliant, but I think they were all too fucked to remember - Al concussed himself with his guitar. Andrew Mears is now doing his solo thing as Pet Moon, and part running Blessing Force as well I think. Nothing as good as Youthmovies though...
Attic Lights (maybe they're still around)
One of many 'next big things' from the late-90's who released some great early singles, an underwhelming album & then disappeared
Twice. Both times under different names, but exactly the same line up.
An AMAZING single, a disappointing and then nothing...
Really didn't like the way Coopers ended.
And as mentioned, Hope of the States. Sorely missed.
R E D J E T S O N.
I only ever heard Generation shoes etc, but why that song wasn't MASSIVE, if only in indie circles, is beyond me.
It reached number 50 with barely any daytime radio/mainstream promotion. Then the album was delayed for two years. The bloke is now in the reformed Big Audio Dynamite, it says here.
the high-school me thinks that they were quite good. though now, i dont even know what their music sound like (might be shite though, realizing the tripe that I used to listen to in high school).
esp. 1st lp
