Pictures by Timo Maas really does make my skin crawl.
This is not
Too much for me
at a night I used to co-run turned up and played this. Hardly conducive to the feel of the night... or any night really.
just as the rohypnol starts to take effect *safety wink*
Jerry Dammers has said it's only supposed to be listened to once.
And you know another thing? The single charted. It went top 40. That must have been played on the Radio 1 chart countdown.
it makes me think I'm going to die, but that feels amazing
Genuinely terrifies me. Monsterously good.
East 17. Spooky
...the one with that clown on the cover. Ruined me for life.
the contrast between the beauty of the song and it's subject matter. really hit me when i googled him
Was listening to Swans Are Dead at around 2 in the morning a couple of weeks ago and it give me chills, really freaked me out.
by King of Woolworths
purely because of Salad Fingers
At The Drive In - 300Mhz (the backwards vocal bit)
I seem to remember that 21st Century Schizoid Man scared the shit out of me when I first heard it.
this isn't the album version which is even more scary but this is worth sticking with for her incredible octave range.
And pretty much anything off Tilt or Drift by Scott Walker.
mix of David Bowies Heroes? So bloody creepy
What's that Aphex twin song which includes sounds where if you convert them to wave forms (or something - I'm not technical) it makes a picture of Richard D James' face. That one.
'and the doors are where the windows should be...and the windows are where the doors should be'. aaagggh!
More or less all of the Last Rights album, but 'Circustance' in particular. The manic barking vocals, the random ambient interlude and creepy cartoon like sample behind it, then the aggressive noise section mid way through, the little snippet of audience laughter, the wailing towards the end. Terrifying but really amazing. I've never heard a track so unhinged.
Video goes on for 8 mins but the track is finished by 4:34.
Something very unsettling about it. Love the album though.
But I read an urban rumour about 'Love Rollercoaster' by the Ohio Players included a 'genuine' scream of a woman being murdered. It's obviously rubbish, but even after reading it being completely rubbished, I was still abit unnerved about it. I love urban myths.
the wikipedia entry has more about this myth than anything else
"she interrupted the band's recording session, threatening to sue, at which point the band's manager stabbed her to death in the control room. The latter scenario, however, is impossible as Ester Cordet is still alive."
Always have to skip that. Had to chuckle when that was followed by Australia on shuffle one time, something of a contrast.
The Carny by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - atmospheric doesn't even cover it.
the run of three songs at the end of By The Throat
Through the Glass of the Roof
Through the Roof of Your Mouth
Through the Mouth of Your Eye
The song titles are fucking creepy enough.
but those song titles are taken from the lyrics of the title track of The Cure's Disintegration album.
Scott Walker - Clara
still an incredible song.
