...Prayers For Rain.
The Smiths - Well I Wonder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRY4sGayLZ8
Photek - Rings Around Saturn
Tool - 10,000 Days
off the top of my head, plenty more no doubt
I love that sample. Maybe my favourite line of film dialogue ever.
in Horsepower Poductions - Rain. Benny Ill's use of film samples can often be dead cheesy but it works here. Plus it's an amazing album opener
Track 1 Side 1
Set You Free
How was this not the first answer?!
Ocean of Noise
Deptford Goth - Time (sorry, no link, but it's on Spotify)
Balam Acab - Fragile Hope (maybe, more just water drips than rain per se)
Eminem - Still Don't Give A Fuck
I think. I also think he has admitted regretting putting cheesy rain samples on the song to add atmos.
Green and Grey
in this one
...I've been singing it to myself on and off ever since.
by New Model Army, which includes rain and thunder samples and lyrics about rain and thunder.
One of my favorite Smiths songs
the best song ever with a rain sample...
it's really funny. I'm only kidding on. I said "grow up" because your initial response of "no." was too harsh for my liking, especially in response to a friendly and enthusiastic post. I'm in complete agreement with you- I think the rain sound on Well I Wonder is quite tacky. Although I do like that song, one of the few Smiths song I regularly listen to (not a massive Smiths fan, genuinely, the real fan in Brilliant Mind is our guitarist).
Anyway, do you not think it's a little low, personally attacking me, whilst you yourself hide behind a veil of internet anonymity? You seem very tasteful and confident, I'm sure if you were to reveal your true identity, you would still have no problem in being mean to me. Unless you're fat, or hang around with those kids who all dress like the Horrors and go to The Cut.
FYI: Coming off a little weird there with the Brilliant Mind stuff.
I'm really hoping he's a guy called Joseph Fulton: http://www.facebook.com/josephfulton
Even as an infrequent visitor to the forums I can recall you bringing up BM in a snarky manner another time you've disagreed with Calum. While I'm on, that stuff about the Futureheads and shit emo bands makes it sound like you haven't been to a gig in the region for about 8 years. It wouldn't normally really bother me but for the way you seem to be giving 'advice' as though you're an authority, but it's a pretty thriving community of bands we have round here and I feel that kind of outdated viewpoint undermines the good work a lot of people do to further it.
list the bands you like in the north east. not in a dickish way, just wondered what you're into. seems to be strange that you mention post punk, emo and Oasis stuff, as the only post punk bands are Retriever, Cult Image and some other one who are crap, and i couldn't name a single emo or oasis rip off. Are you that 18 year old from Durham who was moaning about Tusk festival being the only good thing to happen musically in the North East for years?
Early Def Jam R&B.
the opening track from Endless Falls.
!?! guys!! best use ever!
peter broderick - piano and rain
AND IT'S BRILLIANT.
have a rain sample? If so: that.
from the Soil Festivities album. It's great!
- Life Is a Pigsty
Cock The Hammer
What we have here, is a failure, to communicate...
you can have it behind every song! High-fives all around
Can't remember the name of the song though
I'm sure there was a version of that on a coffee advert set in the rainforest with rain effects.. back in the early 90s
Pretty much any track from this gorgeous Ambient Dub Techno album.
It feels as though everything he does uses rain samples, though I'm certain that I must be exaggerating the phenomenon - maybe because it is such excellent rainy day music.
Quite a few.
Lightning Rose (right at the beginning.... baaROOooooooooom....sssshhhhhhhhh.....then in come the guitars!!)
