'Action Beat' are a semi-improvised band from Bletchley, they play noise rock with 2-3 drummers and 4 guitarists. Influenced by many bands, but predominantly; Sonic Youth, Glenn Branca, Boredoms, the EX, fugazi, Blag Flag et al.... Live shows are loud, clustered, and intense!
They've played close to 600 shows throughout Europe since 2004, supporting and touring with many bands, which most recently include: The EX, Thurston Moore, Glenn Branca, Battles, Fuck Buttons, Dalek, ZU, Joe Lally, Earth, Health, The field, Do Make Say think, Oxes, and countless others that I am forgetting. Action beat have toured Europe more than 20 times, and released 5 records on southern records, UK.
From 2001, till about 2011, They put on about 150 DIY shows in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, and also released a number of records under the name 'Fortissimo Records'.
ATC and Cheap jazz will be going head to head to play a dirty set together to round up the year, this will also be the official launch party for the release of the debut Cheap Jazz album "The shape of fun to come"
Made up of 3/5’s of Nottingham post-rock types Souvaris, Cantaloupe are an all together if not completely dissimilar proposition to their paternal band. From the off the band treated the assembled throng to a journey through synth led electro excursions that wore its krautrock influences proudly on its sleeve; from the repetitive motorik rhythms through to the lush swathes of keys, it’s all here. But the music also embraces colourful pop with its almost euro-pop sensibilities in places. Like Stereolab speeding down the Autobahn with their sights set on reaching the African continent.
