Mate Ka Moris Ukun Rasik An
Fuck the Border
Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes
Back to the Motor League
That makes 4 but I don't care.
although I would make it three; i'm not fussed on back to the motor leagues
take your pick
5. "Life During Wartime"
6. "Memories Can't Wait"
how did they manage that I don't even...?
it would quite obviously be:
2. crosseyed and painless
3. the great curve
4. once in a lifetime.
however, i will accept:
1. born under punches
2. crosseyed and painless
3. the great curve
On The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

Forgot about that record, but I shall listen this evening.
Has to be:
Then She Did...
No One's Leaving
Ain't No Right
Been Caught Stealing
Then She Did
definitely in my top 3 favourites of theirs
Zombies - Odessey & Oracle: Beechwood Park > Brief Candles > Hung Up on a Dream
King of Carrot Flowers 2&3 > ITAOTS > Two-Headed Boy
Massive Attack - Mezzanine: take your pick.
Jawbone and Air Rifle
New Face in Hell
...is pretty great too
Would also have accepted
An Older Lover Etc.
Prole Art Threat
Wave of Mutilation
One More Time
Add on Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger and Crescendolls and I'd call it one of the best five track runs ever.
i've grown to love the second half too, but if the whole album was as strong as those first 5.....jesus.
I'd have exploded by the end
But those first five are untouchable.
You Are Invited > Gyroscope > The City
inbetween Power and All of the Lights. Technically a separate track.
the best of the beatles
Bigmouth Strikes Again
Boy With The Thorn In His Side
but you could literally take any combination of three songs off that album and it would work
William it was Really Nothing
What Difference Does it Make
These Things Take Time
or you could add the next three tracks:
How Soon is Now?
Hand in Glove
I know it's a compilation, but not in a greatest hits sense - all those songs were recorded over the space of about nine months
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
This Night Has Opened My Eyes
Have to turn the tape over after HKIMN, but I think it still counts.
Hero of the War
The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated to the Neo-Stalinist Regime)
As it puts songs in pairs, apart from the first and last ones:
Relationship-y songs: On Your Own Again/The World's Strongest Man
Slow, sad songs: Angel of Ashes/Boy Child
War songs: Hero of the War/The Old Man's Back Again
Pick-me-up songs: Duchess/Get Behind Me
That's roughly how I see it. My run of three would be The Old Man's Back Again -> Duchess -> Get Behind Me.
Help on the Way
Dominion/Mother Russia --> Flood I --> Lucretia My Reflection
Murray Street - Sonic Youth
The Empty Page; Disconnection Notice; Rain On Tin
Primary Colours - Eddy Current Suppression Ring
Memory Lane; Sunday's Coming; Wrapped Up
BRMC - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Love Burns; Red Eyes And Tears; Whatever Happend To My Rock 'n' Roll (Punk Song)
All of these open albums.
they're just so good at songs!
I Want Wind To Blow - The Glow Part. 2 - The Moon
Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs
Saturday Morning Breakfast Show
Pretty much the best final quarter to any album I've ever heard.
Criminally under rated album
picked up this album recently, got totally consumed by it for 2 weeks. Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs... didn't expect such a silly title to be hiding such an incredible tune.
TRUST? > NO SEX > SO ME WHAT YOU GOT
JUST LIKE THIS > NOOKIE > BREAKSTUFF
Single again - Here somes the summer - Evergreen
Chavez - Repeat The Ending, Hack The Sides Away, Nailed To The Blank Spot (I know it's a compilation but still they blow me away with every listen)
Fear of Drowning - The Lonely - Carrion

when listening to Homogenic. Choose your favourites from:
Kill Your Television
Less Than Useful
Shine A Light
Dear Sons & Daughters Of Hungry Ghosts
I'll Believe In Anything
that automatically springs to mind..
It's like a bomb going off. Sadly, it set a standard that Gangsta Rap never quite lived up to. Apart from maybe the first three tracks off "Life After Death"...
---it set a standard that Gangsta Rap never quite lived up to---
In your opinion
Pattern Against user
One armed Scissor
best start of an album ever ever ever
I'd have to say that this is the one I agree with the most. Absolutely amazing start to an album. I can remember the first time I ever heard this. Had been hearing loads about them but hadn't actually heard any tracks. Was visiting a friend for the weekend and we'd stayed up all night smoking ourselves silly. At one point he put this on and to say it cut through the fog would be something of an understatement...
Jean Is Dead
The Boat Dreams From The Hill
for me it has to be Fireman ~ Accident Prone ~ Chemistry. So, so good.
All of the Lights
Weight of Water
Left of the Dial
Here Comes a Regular
Napalm Brain/Scatter Brain
What Does Your Soul Look Like pt.1
That counts, right?
Close To The Edge/And You And I/Siberian Khatru
Replace it with The Gates Of Delirium/Sound Chaser/To Be Over, even though I don't really like Sound Chaser.
Or, better, 7-> (EYE REMIX)/7-> (Boriginal)/7-> (EWE REMIX)
Where Damage Isn't Already Done
Keen On Boys
1995 ~ Against The Tide ~ Strange Things Will Happen
three songs more exquisitely nostalgic than most bands will ever write one of.
Prayers For Rain
The Same Deep Water As You
Sloop John B
God Only Knows
I Know There's An Answer
You are A Light
Cream OF Gold
Weezer - Blue album
Say It Ain't So
In the Garage
And then you've got Only In Dreams to follow it : ) perfect!
muscle n flo
wet and rusting
thee more shallows - book of bad breaks
Two Dope Boyz
Wheelz of Steel
I won't go so far as to say best, but pre-tty, pre-tty good.
Lush 3-1 / Lush 3-2
Impact (The Earth Is Burning)
Shimmy Shimmy Ya - Baby C'mon - Brooklyn Zoo
This weekend just gone I've only listened to 2 albums on heavy repeat and it's the two you've posted in this thread. ODB around 6/7 times and Biggie nearer to 10.
I agree with the ODB but not on the B.I.G, reply below.
Similarly, I was thinking this subject matter about 3 weeks or so ago about The Black Album: Dirt off your shoulder - Threat - 99 Problems - Public Service Announcement, conveniently forgetting the Eminem abomination in the middle of them which I always skip.
The best Jay triplet is off Reasonable Doubt:
Can I Live
You're cheating on the Black Album one pal, cheater.
The Mercy Seat
Up Jumped the Devil
The What - Juicy - Everyday Struggle
If ya dont know... now you know.
For me it's Things Done Changed - Gimme the Loot - Machine Gun Funk.
but... BUT, I just don't even know what to say to someone who doesn't rate The What, that's just plain irresponsible.
Listened again a few times after your admonishment. Strong, not saying I'm wrong but a better sample like some of the other tracks and that would be elevated to massive tune status. Lyrics are pretty f'in ace. Ok, I'm wrong ggrrrrrrrrrr.
I'd also say any run of 3 off Enter Wu
a hard days night
I should have known better
If i fell
im happy just to dance with you
and i love her
tell me why
cant buy me love
Queen Of Hearts
Under My Nose
The Other Shoe
from David Comes To Life is incredible, the best of the year for sure
Inside a Frame
The Recursive Girl
One More Night
Stillness Is The Move
from Bitte Orca
This Charming Man
Hand in Glove
(followed by what difference dos it make)
I dont think this is beatable
Back to the Old House
Reel Around The Fountain
Please, Please, Please...
golden slumbers -> carry that weight -> the end
Blue Bell Knoll
a few runs of three off their head over heels albumn
a few runs off their album 4 calendar cafe
the whole of treasure
the whole of victorialand
Hes a liquid
But that is a strong trio
No One's Driving
take yer pick
Heart and Soul
or start with 24 Hours and stick Decades on the end. Love the whole record, but the second side is truly amazing.
It's like death and rebirth. Something uneathly and beautiful. Never been an album like it and there never will be.
Side 1 - brilliant but jarring and harrowing
Side 2 - Still dark, but somehow uplifting and life affirming
Altogether and almost perfect work of art.
Hang Down Your Head - Rain Dogs - Time.
16 Shells from a 30.6
Town with no Cheer
Worms Of The Senses/Faculties Of The Skull - Liberation Frequency - The Deadly Rhythm
New Noise - Refused Party Program - Protest Song '68
Possibly the last three. Certainly as strong a closing pair as any I've heard. Or maybe Summerholidays through New Noise. There's just too many.
Truth be told the whole album is awesome!!!
Mansard Roof - Oxford Comma - A-Punk
Or does this count as derailing the thread? I'd probably go with Paranoid Android - Subterranean Homesick Alien - Exit Music.
Climbing Up The Walls
Blue Ridge Mountains
You're a Woman, I'm a Machine
But three excellent rock ones are...
Arcarsenal - Pattern Against User - One Armed Scissor
No One Knows - First It Giveth - A Song For The Dead
Sludgefeast - The Lung - Raisans
See No Evil / Venus / Friction - Marquee Moon
One side and 21 minutes of world-shattering perfection
War On War - Jesus etc - Ashes Of American Flags
Skywood Greenback Mantra
Turn Of The Century
Up The Sleeve
panasonic youth> sunshine the werewolf> highway robbery
search & destroy> gimme danger> your pretty face is going to hell
revolution blues> for the turnstiles> vampire blues
To Here Knows When > When You Sleep > I Only Said
Came here to say exactly this. Brutal three-song run. Even better when you throw Jesus Christ Pose in at the end.
would be my SG run of three, although only because 'spoonman' is preferable to 'kickstand'. other two are righteous
if 'face pollution' didn't exist, slaves and bulldozers through somewhere would be tops
1. everything in it's right place
2. kid a
3. the national anthem
just flows better than anything else i've ever heard.
plus How To Disappear Completely?
just drove my brother to the airport singing along terribly to read music/speak spanish, what a fucking record.
YEAH ONE MORE MOUTHFUL AND WE WILL BE HAPPY THEE-EEEN
Let's Dance - I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You - Today Your Love Tomorrow the World
Beat on the Brat
Judy is a Punk
The best first three songs from a debut album ever?
Feliciteria > Digital Bath > Elite
Knife Prty > Korea > Passenger > Change
Worship and Tribute deserves a mention too. Take your pick from:
Gillette Calvacade > Trailer Park Jesus > Two Tabs > Convectuoso
and I couldn't see this above:
All The Wine
Geese of Beverly Road
Geese - City Middle - Mr November
but that album is one long great sequence
Song About An Angel
Have One On Me
Good Intentions Paving Company
but specifically Sawdust & Diamonds - Only Skin - Cosmia. I can't even.
I'm Only Sleeping
Cooper Temple Clause - See This Through & Leave:
Been Training Dogs
B&S - Tigermilk:
The State I Am In
She's Losing It
Whoever said Oceansize was on the money. Brilliant ending to an album.
The Beatles Revolver aren't a hot new band.
Just thinking about it makes me miserable.
Did You Miss Me?
All I Need
Just pick your selection really
Optimistic - In Limbo - Idioteque
REM - Life's Rich Pageant probably wins for me though
Begin the Begin - These Days - Fall on me
Take Me Out - The Dark of the Matinee - Auf Achse
Gorillaz Demon days has
Dirty Harry - Feel Good Inc - El Manana
Man on the Moon
Find the River
the end and everything after
cranes and cranes and cranes
And you've got a better case
Hadn't thought of that but christ it takes some beating
NY STATE OF MIND
LIFE'S A BITCH
THE WORLD IS YOURS
but Codex, GUTG, Separator is a pretty good'un
Kanye West's All of the Lights -> Monster -> So Appalled is pretty good too.
Like Eating Glass -> Helicopter -> Positive Tension is still great.
Surprised at how rare it is for me to love 3 songs in a row on an album. Had a quick glance at some of my favourite albums but i'd still come across a track that was an obvious weakness compared to the other 2
Teresa, give me that knife
Joining a Fan Club
Sebrina, Paste and Plato
Glutton of Sympathy
The Ghost at Number One
.... pick your 3
The Meeting Place
but then I'm a weirdo who reckons the answer might be 'war dance' -> 'wrapped in grey' -> 'the ugly underneath'
or, like, any of the three possible runs that contains 'senses working overtime', i'm not fussy
God Save the Queen
A New Career In A New Town
A Child's Christmas in Wales
Hanky Panky Nohow
The Endless Plain of Fortune
After The Goldrush
Only Love Can Break Your Heart
If There Is Something
The Boston Rag
Your Gold Teeth
Here She Comes Now
I Heard Her Call My Name
Mother Whale Eyeless
The Great Pretender
Lady in the Front Row
The World has Turned and Left Me Here
Undone (The Sweater Song)
22 Going On 23
Blues X Man
Palace of the Brine
Letter To Memphis
Deeper Into Movies
The Valley of the Shadow of Death
Dead On Arrival
really could have chosen any 3 from confield though
Just tricking, I love Confield as well, was just a bit of a drag at first.
Wish You Dead
Rescue - Villiers Terrace - Read it in Books
Show of Strength - With a Hip - Over the Wall
The Cutter - Back of Love - My White Devil
Thorn of Crowns - The Killing Moon - Seven Seas
but Ocean Rain is such a perfect closer I couldn't go without it.
But you could pick almost any three tracks from Porcupine or Ocean Rain and not go far wrong
because I couldn't figure out why I have a different tracklisting! The LP version has Pictures on My Wall in place of Read it in Books, which isn't a bad compromise tbh
Race for the Prize
A Spoonful Weighs a Ton
The Spark That Bled
Waitin' For Superman
Suddenly Everything Has Changed
Any possible combination on the Soft Bulletin
Perfect Lines > Red & Blue Jeans > Why did we ever Meet?
Pink Chimneys > B is for Bethlehem > Forget Me
and while we're emoing everywhere:
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity: Just Watch the Fireworks > For me this is Heaven > Blister
Two Snakes > Hidden World > Manqueller Man > Blaze of Glory, take your pick
Fugazi (loads of these)
Argument: Full Disclosure > Epic Problem > Life and Limb & Strangelight > Oh > Ex-Spectator
End Hits: Foreman's Dog > Appregiator > Guildford Fall
Let Me Sleep Next to the Mirror
Rodney King (Song for Lenny Bruce)
Thinking of Ways
When Love Breaks Down
Still Life in Mobile Homes
Visions Of China
Sons of Pioneers
The Art of Parties
In My Time of Dying
and was fascinated that I couldn't find a three-track run in their entire catalogue that didn't feature a song that I have serious problems with.
Closest I could manage was
Achilles Last Stand
For Your Life
... but only the first of those three is a real classic
Bonham is insane on it, but overall it's just too long & flailing & indulgent for this little black duck
Merchandise -> Blueprint -> Sieve Fisted Find
Three Girl Rhumba
Ex Lion Tamer
Field Day For The Sundays
Three Girl Rhumba
Any three tracks on Pink Flag or Chairs Missing.
Am I Wry? No
Or the first three tracks on Bleed American
Oh yeah, those 3 tracks are ace... it's called snow brigade though
One Mo Gin
stuck between stations ---> chips ahoy ---> hot soft light
my beautiful dark twisted fantasy
so appalled ----> devil in a new dress ---> runaway
Polar Opposites -> Bankrupt on Selling -> Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice On Ice
There are better ones but that's the one that gets me at the minute.
I'm thinking 3rd Planet - Gravity Rides Everything - Dark Centre of the Universe. Does it for me every time. Waynes World head banging when it rocks on ....Universe.
Get me, the expert! Thanks again. Hope you're doing good man.
A Heat Rash In The Shape Of The Show Me State; Or, Letters From Me To Charlotte
The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future
There Is A Flag. There Is No Wind
I was also thinking about:
By Your Hand
Songs About Your Girlfriend
from the new album :)
Where Is My Mind?
(In fact, there's so many good runs on that album - Soma > Geek USA > Spaceboy > Silverfuck)
Worms of the Senses / Faculties of the Skull
The Deadly Rhythm
This Is Hardcore
A Little Soul
I could have had Help the Aged before This Is Hardcore instead, but I love the way TV Movie leads into A Little Soul!
Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes
Closer You Are
Running Up That Hill
The Big Sky
Hounds of Love
Good Morning Captain
Rock the Nation
Bad Motor Scooter
Space Station No.5
Boys You Won’t
I suppose that’s quite a personal list, but whatever, The Wrens make probably the most goosepimply beautiful music in the world, and Thirteen Grand has pretty much redundanced the rest of the indie rock genre, so yeah, that.
by muse on the album showbiz
Where The Streets Have No Name
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
With Or Without You
Bullet the Blue Sky is the second-best song they've ever written, man.
Lover, You Should've Come Over
Mojo Pin -> Grace -> Last Goodbye just as well. I'm a sucker for that goddamn album.
Where are they now?
Castles in the Snow
The Sea is a Good Place to Think of the Future
This is a Flag. There Is No Wind
The Sea is a Good Place to Think of the Future
This is a Flag. There is No Wind
Coda: A Burn Scar In the Shape of the Sooner State
Copper Blue - Hoover Dam, The Slim, If I Cant Change Your Mind
Beaster - Tilted, Judas Cradle, JC Auto
ITS SO EASY
OUT TA GET ME
Go listen now and dare to disagree....
1. The Vowels pt. 2
2. Good Friday
3. These Few Presidents
Caribou - Swim
Animal Collective - MPP
1. In the Flowers
2. My Girls
3. Also Frightened
but king of limbs final 3 of codex, give up the ghost and separator is effin brilliant!!
I know, I know, but he is right!
But yeah it has already been mentioned...
This is a quality thread. Really makes you realise how only certain albums are strong enough to carry three blinders in a row. I think the posts citing whole albums are missing the point a bit.
Shine a Light -> Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts -> I'll Believe in Anything. I love the rest of that album to death, but this stretch alone could justify all indie rock ever made.
Hounds - Corsicana - Putting the Dog to Sleep
The Calendar Hung Itself...
To The Lighthouse
Burn Hollywood Burn
Power to the People
Who Stole the Soul
Drive Like Jehu - S/T
O Pencil Sharp / Atom Jack / If It Kills You
McLusky Do Dallas
Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues / No New Wave No Fun / Collagen Rock
Fugazi - The Argument
Cashout / Full Disclosure / Epic Problem
Q and Not U - No Kill No Beep Beep
Hooray for Humans / Kiss Distinctly American / We Heart Our Hive
Sonic Youth - EVOL
Shadow of a Doubt / Star Power / In the Kingdom #19
Fuzzy Logic - God! > Fuzzy Birds > Something 4
Radiator - Herman > Chucapacbras > Torra
Guerrilla - Turning Tide > Nothern Lites > Night Vision
Mwng - Y Teimlad > Sarn Helen > Gwreiddiau
Rings - Miniature > No Sympathy > Juxtapozed
Phantom P - Sex, War > Piccolo Snare > Venus and Serena
Love Kraft - Frequency > Oi Frango > Psyclone
Hey Venus! - Neo consumer > Into the Night > Baby ate my 8ball
DD/LY - Cardiff in the sun > The very best.. > Helium Hearts
These are just off the top of my head...
Usually when we do this thread, at least 4 people mention Spiritualised's L&GWAFISpace.
Shame on you.
Intolerance - Prison Sex - Sober
Clearlake - Amber
Neon - Good Clean Fun - Finally Free
Motorhead - Airborne - Panzer
Kasabian - S/T
Club Foot - Processed Beats - Reason Is Treason
Any three from:
My Mate Paul
Let's Get Killed
Head Rush on Lafayette
Blinding run there.
The Beast and Dragon, Adored
The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine
I Turn My Camera On
Best three-track run of their career? The answer is yes.
Though you could cut a convincing argument out of any of the first seven tracks of Gimme Fiction.
Agree totally on the first three on Thirteen Tales: that's an incredible run, and makes the rest of the album sound lame by comparison.
Come Down! This is hard, as there are so many quality tunes. The first three doesn't work for me, as I don't like Minnesoter (never like the Dandys' country stylings). Shame, as Be-In is tremendous and Boys Better is one of their best singles.
However, I Love You - Last Junkie - Everyday/Holiday - Good Morning is an awesome run, as is Green - Cool As Kim Deal - Hard On For Jesus, and also Orange - I Love You - Last Junkie. It's a good, well-sequenced album is what I'm saying.
You Know What I Mean
This could also go in the bands whose best song is the first song on the their debut thread.
Give it Away
Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Under the Bridge
A Nervous Tic Motion Of The Head To The Left
Perhaps quite unfashionable, but Damien Rice - O
The Blower's Daughter
Maybe just as unfashionable: Ash - Free All Angels
Burn Baby Burn
The Decemberists - Picaresque
16 Military Wives
The Engine Driver
On The Bus Mall
Foo Fighters - The Colour And The Shape
Walking After You
New Way Home
Incredible stretch on an only-decent album. Could throw Delicate on it, too.
Cover Me (Slowly)
Modern Love, China Girl then Lets Dance
Frontloaded to fuck
I Wanna Be Adored
She Bangs The Drums
You all want your heads looked at.
Last three posts I've read of yours have included this remark!
For a cartoon lion.
Sea of Teeh, Apple Bed, King of Nails
Amaaazing. The heart of one of the best albums of the decade IMO
Born in 69
On a Rope
Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation
Rag Doll/Simoriah/Dude (looks Like A Lady)
Alice In Chains - Jar Of Flies
Nutshell/I Stay Away/No Excuses
Archie Bronson Outfit - Derdang Derdang
Cherry Lips/Kink/Dart For My Sweetheart
The Young Gods - TV Sky
Gasoline Man/TV Sky/Skinflowers
VAST - Visual Audio Sensory Theater
Van Halen - Van Halen I
Running With The Devil/Eruption/You Really Got Me
All My Friends
Us v Them
Ladytron - Witching Hour
Destroy Everything You Touch
Not 3, but 4 amazing songs in a row:
Movin' On Up
Slip Inside This House
Don't Fight It, Feel It
Higher Than the Sun
Natural's Not In It
Not Great Men
The first three tracks are great, this is basically what got me into the Manics. The rest of the LP is pretty shit though to be fair.
I'm Not Working
You're Tender and You're Tired
Born a Girl
Black Dog On My Shoulder
Nobody Loved You
Condemned to Rock'n'Roll
Born To End
You Love Us
This is Yesterday
Die in the Summertime
I Would Die 4 U
Baby I'm A Star
is a pretty killer run.
girl from mars
Feel good hit of the summer > Lost art of keeping a secret > Leg of lamb
Auto pilot > Better living through chemistry > Monster in the parasol
Pretty much ANY three consecutive tracks on that album
- Computer World 2
- Computer Love
That's all of electro in a nutshell right there, and Computer Love is one of their finest tracks.
and on The Man-Machine:
- The Model
- Neon Lights
- The Man-Machine
Gets their range in three tracks:
The Model, one of their songs about beauty and appearance, like Showroom Dummies or Hall of Mirrors...
Neon Lights, one of their 'songs of wonder' like Kometenmelodie 2 or Europe Endless...
The Man-Machine, the key concept title track like Autobahn/Trans-Europe Express/Radioactivity/Computer World/Tour de France/Techno Pop or Electric Cafe...
In fact most Kraftwerk's albums having a quite short length they're actually a Best Run of All Tracks On An Album.
Rhymer's Only Room, The Velvet Ant, Son Of A Gun, Rifle Eyes, Dead Dogs Two
And I'm pretty keen on Pop Song and Keen Teen Skip too, but they're not on the same level. If it has to be just 3, then Son of a Gun through to Dead Dogs Two. But what an album. Trails off near the end, but a hell of a middle.
I'm disappointed in you all for not bringing this up before now.
Tucked away so easy to miss. Raindrops follows those three and is amazing too.
Is the right answer
cos I think I've heard NEARLY every album mentioned.
Rock With You
Workin Day & Night
But actually I might go Billie Jean through PYT for the Thriller lp.
Pocket Full Of Stones 2
Front Back Side to Side
Protect & Serve
his best ever I think.
