Friday: Tom Petty
Saturday: The Boss
Sunday: Pearl Jam rumoured
AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!
...of new music.
Springsteen is on the Sunday and Pearl Jam are rumoured for the Saturday.
They are meant to be announcing some European dates this week though, so I guess it's possible...
It's Pearl Jam
I mean he fits the American rock triumvirate thing they're going for perfectly, I just didn't think he was that big in the UK
Surely they are a bigger draw for the mainstream dullards, can't believe Tom Petty is big enough to headline either.
but mostly I approve because I'd really love to see the reaction of the people on their forum who tried to get a campaign together - petitions, letters to the organisers, trying to get a bottling together - to get the festival to drop Neil Young as headliner because he wasn't relevant.
but yeah both are a lot bigger over here atm
NO THEY'RE STILL GREAT EVEN IF I DIDN'T LOVE THEIR LAST ALBUM SHUT UP
They've got one proper pan-demographic anthem. Gangs of 20 year olds are not going to be on each other's shoulders in exultations to The Birds.
I fit that exact criteria, and I bloody love Elbow. Loads.
Oh, I don't fit that bit about sitting on people's shoulders though. People who do that at festivals are fucking annoying.
...but I've always been under the impression that the IoW festival is full of beered up lads on tour acting like twats. Is that the case, or have I been misled?
It does seem that with this line-up and the move to Glastonbury's slot that maybe they're consciously courting a different demographic this year...
love love love. I'm not going to the isle of wight fest though.
