Now that's what I call a list.
time to leave this thread alone....
(yes I haven't left yet)
mystifying lack of Peaking Lights - both because it is excellent and because it is the 'sort of thing' Quietus normally like.
Took me until the review of the reissue in the Wire to realise why. It's an awfully safe record which doesn't really ever let loose. That's just my opinion. It is lovely though. Just a bit too 'nice' and backgroundy.
should be a good list for finding unexpected treats then
probably the LP i've listened to most this year
Great record. Took me a while, but what a great record.
Except not the part about it taking a while - I thought it was pretty immediate.
Just made it into my top 5 for this year, but I think it wouldn't have made top ten in a better year.
what am I missing out on
But also a bit posh.
I love her debut. The lyrics are sorta funny and about everyday things such as going out, having a drink, bad introductory chat up lines etc.
It's a cross between dubstep and pop, meaning extreme fans of one or the other tend to hate her. As I have a passing admiration of both however, I think she's proper skill.
Everything But The Girl
some quite interesting picks elsewhere though. Loved the Pinch & Shackleton one, and tbf they seem to be about the only blog that has really got behind Azari & III and the now defunct Snowman, both of which are great albums
very Quietus-esque. not heard OF a lot of them but will endeavor to investigate.
say what? Decent list. Loved the British Sea Power write up which nails them.
And have about 10 of those records.
I suspect it'll be the nearest to my own personal one come year end.
But a lot of good stuff. Glad Eager To Tear Apart the Stars, One Nation, Ravedeath 1972 (Seems like everyone has forgotten how brilliant this is, including myself shamefully) & The Haxan Cloak all got chosen. Haxan at so high a place too!
I've forgotten how good the Hype Williams is, need to re-listen before I finalise my list.
it kinda inspired this mix: http://www.sonicrouter.com/2011/03/radio-sonic-router-x-hivemind-fm-xpldr-session-27-03-2011/
Just tryed to expand on the album and beatmatch bits from Hype where I could/add some more vibes...
But fair feckin play for having a unique list.
I played that record a lot at the end of the summer.
Other than that, good list.
Think I'll stick it on now, cheers.
the Tiger & Woods record is infinitely more addictive on this house / nu-disco new current. But I really liked to see Perc and The Haxan Cloak on top5. Well done, Quietus.
Liturgy's Aethetica is one awesome album (for fans of Pyramids on Hydra head)
I love how Cold Cave made it to number 15. I've been sporting their hoody for the last two years, and often felt I was alone in loving this band.
post here anymore?
But tis only occasionally. Working full-time has taken its toll on my posting...
