I'm bloody seeing bloody Vaccines that night, bloody hell.
Looks like I'm going to have to get out of work early and lurk outside the Lexington.
In a good way. Will settle on the brilliance of seeing them at Borderline. Can have too much of a good thing...
But I'd had the heaviest, sleepless, drink fueled Saturday night/Sunday morning/all day Sunday, in recent history and my memory of the gig is somewhat of a blur. An amazing blur, but a blur all the same.
The Lexington from 5 o'clock or something daft.
I'm going to be in that queue. Probably from 4pm, with a hip flask and a couple of joints. Look for the mad/stoned bloke (hopefully) at the front of the line.
It was fantastic, very loud as well. I queued for the Josh T Pearson/Gruff Rhys gig on wednesday, and I started the queue at half 5. Suspect I will need to get there earlier for this.
One of the highlights of wednesday's set was JTP nicely mocking a photographer for having a stupidly loud camera.
So we're looking at 4-5pm ?, jeees
Instruction or an expectation.
Didn't really read the ts and cs, just entered before spending 4 days locked in prayer!
PM me :)
Actually, just one.
But I need to get my gf in aswell.
Surprised no one has bitten your hand off for it!
Any way if you are on your tod, come say hello and we can have that beer.
I guess I'll be the first person in the as yet unstarted queue.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck my work christmas party
Damn touch screen jabbing
For those planning on queuing...I queued for JTP and Gruff Rhys last week. I arrived at 530 and started the queue immediately, just ahead of three women. However, the queue didn't really take shape until 630 or so. I think people will be fine if you arrive no later then 6-630.
Probably the most excited I've been for a show in ages.
Are we the only people who entered?
No queue as yet.
The band are on the table next to me, but I have nothing to say that won't haunt me at a later date.
I'm going to go back to reading my book, trying to hide my excitement.
that's dedication. For those queuing the queue started by the tables next to the pub entrance last week.
Are both bands playing for the same amount of time, or is one supporting the other?
I guess it'll be 45 mins and an hour sets.
I had in my head that this was on Thursday. If anyone want's my +1 hit me up quickly.
So, What did everyone think?
I actually didn't mind Dry the River, though they sounded like a direct amalgamation of so many other things.- the triangle towel thing was funny.
Third time I've seen Antlers (Reading fest & Koko), and definitely the best. Could've done without the two mutton ladies in front of me who decided that having a good old chat and showing their dinner photos was definitely the thing to do.
I highly enjoyed the mega-extendo version of 'Putting the Dog to Sleep'.
Honestly, awful people. I got stuck next to them for the end of dry the river. Morons.
Does that make it any better?
But no, not really. Still annoyed me.
‘Ours’ were both about 6ft tall, pushed through right before the band started, and were with a man who wore the expression a caveman would wear if you showed him a working lightbulb.
However, they were taking huge amounts of photos and posing. And pushed to the front just as the antlers were to come on.
Seems there were an abundance of annoying people there. Still, great set by the antlers.
I have missed out on their shows for one reason or another this year, and so hadn't seen any of the new album live. Their sound is a bit more beefy these days (mind you, they were always loud) and I thought the 2nd album tracks really worked well. Shame they didn't play a slightly longer set, but it was free so no complaints.
Dry the river...hmmm I might need to see them again, but the 1/2 a set I saw I thought they were a bit generic. Lead singer clearly loves himself too (though if I looked like him and was in a band, I'd probably be so too).
Also Unfamiliar, you must have been stood very near to me - those two ladies were absolute twats of the highest order. Took annoying and vacuous to a new level.
i couldn't take my eyes off him
(I hope not)
And preceeded to get hammered, very hammered.
From what I remember they were good (I remember very little)
Get a grip man!
I think I have a problem :(
