Superchunk at The Scala tomorrow
Who is going? Managed to wangle myself a ticket. Lets meet for a beer beforehand if I know you or if you think I'd find you interesting?

I'm going.
Just worked out the logistics too. I'm staying at my brother's house in Maidenhead (it makes sense, honest!) as there's an hourly service to there from King's Cross through the night. Yay!
small amount of tickets still available for this

Me is going
Name a place
I’m going. Doubt I’ll be there much before 8.30 though.
Anyone know any good pubs nearby?
Meeting a mate there probably around 7pm I guess, have provisionally said The Big Chill Bar as it's next door and is a reasonably inoffensive place to have a pre-show beer.
Any idea what time Let's Wrestle are on?
The Harrison is the best place for a pre-Scala beverage

The Harrison is a good suggestion

Let's Wrestle are on at 8:15 PM.
Sorry to be a pub heathen
But I'm meeting my mate at Big Chill House (not actually as shit as it sounds - I did a gig in there once and it was alright) which is next door to the venue - basically I'm just being lazy. If anyone wants to meet up we'll be in there from 7:00ish.
ACTUALLY
Just seen the price list for The Big Chill House, its £4.10 for a pint of Heineken which is the only thing worth drinking. Harrison has Doom Bar for £3.40.
The Harrison it is. 7pm.
I'm going
oh yes. No amount of man flu will prevent me.
Gah!
Last min interview tonight before I can enjoy this!
Balls, I forgot about this
Slack motherfucker indeed.
we'll have a few available on the door tonight
very excited about this
off to the Euston Tap to get even more excited
Brilliant, wasn't it?
Certainly was!
Glad they played Cast Iron Shores and Hyper Enough in the encore, my two favourites. Other than Garlic and Breadman they played everything I could gave wished for. Mac hasn't aged either has he? My first time at Scala, lovely venue.
Pretty freaking sweet, that.
Let's Wrestle appeared to have much more fun off-stage watching Superchunk than they did on-stage.
Yeah, Let’s Wrestle only really came alive on their (older) faster songs.
Bit of a shame that – I’ve seen them a few times before and they’ve always been excellent
I love in the court of the wrestling lets, and this was the first time I'd seen them,
so I was more than a little disappointed.
Since their original bassist left
They just haven't quite been the same band
Awesome gig.
One of the best gigs I've seen this year.
My mate was devastated they didn't play Seed Toss
and I really really wanted Fractures in Plasters as it's easiest the best song of MS. Otherwise it was great. More energy from that lot of olds than bands half their age etc etc.
Next time ATP can you sort out a Don't Look Back of them doing Tossing Seeds please. If poss, with Les Savy Fav supporting doing Inches, ta.
Nah, fractures in plasters is only the fifth best song on that album.
Gutted they didn't play basement life (though I didn't expect them to).
one of those bands
that could play for three hours and still leave out your favourite songs, but still have played a blinder of a show. Was it me or was the trio of my gap feels weird, crossed wires and learned to surf a huge affirmation that this band need to become a going concern for a few more records AT LEAST? I left after 45 mins as I was exhausted and convinced it could not have got better. Go on, tell me played Precision Auto and ruin it for me.
Also, I cannot remember the last time I saw a band of their stature setting their own kit up, I resisted the urge to shout and ask if Merge had made them "miwlionaires" yet :D
You left after 45 minutes? That was only halfway through the show.
they didn't finish until 11.
I left after the first encore. Regret that now I hear they played
cast iron.
Like Amyblue
I considered leaving after a similar length of time, and that trio of songs was ace. I'm not massively familar with anything inbetween Tossing Seeds and MS, so the middle did drag a bit as I didn't recognise everything BUT the encores justified my persistence.
I enjoyed this show, very energetic
but I definitely suffered from not being all that familiar with most of their output - a lot of the songs kind of blurred into one which is a shame. Would have enjoyed it a lot more if I could have picked the tunes out a bit better. Enjoyed the Sebadoh cover anyway!
The band were in The Harrison before the gig - maybe they read DiS? Also did someone off here that I totally didn't recognise bump into me as I was walking into the toilets at the pub and say "sorry Dan"? Freaked me out a bit. Maybe he didn't say Dan.
Perhaps he said Ladyman?
No it was one syllable
