DiS users' Albums of the Year 2011: vote here
Ho ho ho, it's Christmas time, and that means it's also that time of year where we all gather our thoughts, reflect on our purchases and rank your favourite albums of the year.
In the thread below, please list your TOP 5 albums of 2011 in order. (#1 being your favourite, naturally.) Should you choose not to rank them then each of your choices will be given an equal number of points.
It would be awfully appreciated if you could just list your albums in this thread and perhaps begin another to discuss them, as it's far easier for me to tally it all up that way.
Results will be out c. January 2nd.
So, guys and gals: get thinking and get voting.

are you still bitter about not being made avant garde editor? i thought we were over that
'voting' is more of a popularity contest.
DiS' official albums of the year, takes into account the 'votes' on this thread. I shift my perception when approximating the final list, based on regularity of use of the site, seniority of staff, specialist knowledge and so on and so forth. otherwise a 'list' ends up telling you that popular things are popular.
you are not being ignored.
this is not, i repeat, NOT a pointless exercise.
and we always run the reader vote as a news story, always have, always will.
this really shouldn't be clogging up this thread, so i'll shut up now.
Err...I said in the thread sean made a while back that I'd be happy to do this again
and he acknowledged it prior to my making this, so I don't think it's as big an issue as you're making it out to be.
how would you suggest it was done instead
this way 'works' and it is very DiS. everyone gets to see everyone else's lists. people see patterns. they check out something on a list of 5 where they know 4. Or they check out 4 releases on a list where they love the number 1 and don't know the rest. i think this is far more important than what is MOST POPULAR/agreeable/etc.
i only said that I hadn't come up with a better/easier way of doing it, that would tot up the points for us.

Whinge, whinge, whinge...people always find a way to whinge.
a) The thread's boring? It's not a discussion thread - it's a means to an end. If you'd read my initial post you'd see that I requested another thread to be made to discuss votes which - gasp - was donw very promptly by another user.
b) Oh, it's so early to be doing this, moan, moan, moan. So vote later on in the day, then! The initial post said i'd give the results Jan. 2nd, so you've a while yet. A thread asking how we should do this this year suggested starting now, so it's been done.
End rant. Thanks to those for voting already in a painless way.
My comment was more of an observation than a whinge
A thread with loads of lists (many of them very similar) but no comments is dull, but it serves a purpose and makes things easier for you.
