Rolling sub bass
I am a sucker for constant deep low-end bass rolling around in my canals. I love to feel my head rattle, my heart quiver, my equilibrium getting all throwed and my ears shifting while trying to find relief. I once made it through a Rascall Flatts concert (married the girl, mind) by opting to stand right in front of a giant tower of subs, I ENJOYED THE SHOW GUYS! My heart was being pumped for me and I couldn't hear anything else, just standing there with my arms folded, basking in a bubble of sonic bliss.
For me, its one of those things (along with triumphant horn stabs) that can turn an ok song into something great. Like, take this Wiz Khalifa song http://tinyurl.com/7ne8qd5 for example, an alright song I spoze, but that bass is like O__O
There's a reason why I gravitate towards rap and r&b, the same reason I am slowly making my way to more house and electronic avenues. Its the basss maaaan, the bass.
So lets talk about and link up albums/songs that have impressive low end, like all your mums.

Good thread
I like a good subby square wave bass - no one posted 138 trek yet ? Not rolling, more prodding & poking but anyway a bass classic nonetheless

^^^^^^ BEST BASSSS EVAER ^^^^^^
Seriously though,
thats my favorite bass sound in any song ever.
*pops head around the door*
Well it's full of bass I'll give you that, lyrics need some work. Ok, I'm properly leaving now with my only possible contribution to this thread, a fave lyric and fave sub-bass line, so so obvious:
'One thing bout music when it hit you feel no pain'

Natch
was gonna post this
things that are bigger than hip-hop
1) institutional racism
2) that bassline
love that song!
Song is pretty bad, I admit.
Its the bass that reels me back in though.
Shame to hear Too $hort mailing in lame assness like that :(

Honestly, I don't know if this counts as ''bass'',
but I just want to share this superb performance of Angel Echoes by Four Tet. It's ace.

Probably one of my favourite tracks ever. Drifting along serenely and with the odd plunging weight from a stab of sub.
This is brilliant!
Thanks for the link.
The whole album is stunning
check out his second album rebuilding vibes and also the slightly mental but ace collab he did with Jan Jalinek (Farben, Gramm etc):

FLAT BEAT
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adywROr6puk
Ive never listened to mr Oizo before this.
This tune, astonishing as it is, was used in a jeans advert at the time and most people are like
OH YEAH MR OIZO WITH THE YELLO PUPPET THING I REMEMBER THAT but he's released loads of totally amazing stuff since then (new album came out earlier this month) all well worth checking out, really some of the oddest music i've heard (even tho i listen to self-consciously 'weird' noisy music all the time) yet at the same time most of it really danceable/funky.
Apparently he knocked out Flat Beat in like two hours ^__^
he's insane
not that into his more recent stuff, its all a bit blog house throwback for me but even then he's way above the usual Ed Banger lot.
Thes were my jams for ages way back though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTFSzjWesvU / http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHQJ3N6gtxY
Analog Worms Attack is seriously underrated
YOU WORK WITH THAT PUPPET?
...why?
:D
amazing trackkk. I love the new stuff too tho.
I like that his most ostensibly dancefloor friendly tracks will just go off into something totally ridiculous, or be only half a song or something. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKpoQpofREc

Shackleton
Is pretty much king of bass, go see him live at a place with a mad soundsystem and you feel some kind of voodoo bass business for a good two hours, it's insane.

My first year of college, I had this friend who
had this hoopty Ford Astrovan http://tinyurl.com/7k4udvn and in the trunk lived two 18" subs with something silly like 1000 watts per. The bass was sooooo sloppy and over the top, especially since the rest of his system was stock :/ But that mess could make your head hurt.
We had a mix cd we made just for that system. Cant remember all of them but heres a few (youtube sound quality aside):
Daz Dillinger - My System

House Music...
... Is usually pretty bassy. Two fo my favourite albums this year have been Azari & III's self titled and Hercules and Love Affair's "Blue Songs". Both are pretty special affairs in bass and funk.
If you're looking for lower- end, darker stuff though, you should check out some of the post- dubstep stuff, most notably Actress and Zomby.
Yeah true
I just suggested those on the basis of "bassy" music in general.
Used to burn holes on the dance floor
to that Jungle Bros track.
Good stuff, bass on that 1st and Feenin is tops.

this is one of the best productions I've ever heard. even for Shack, it's special.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNgSIQ60TpE
Shackleton is just too much
his live show is just bass+++++++++++++++ its some sort of voodoo ceremony of insane frequencies. I've seen him on some serious soundsystems and fuck me its something else. I've seen rooms full of people go dip shit to it too, no idea how he does it.
really wanna see him live
I've heard many people say the very same. he's a bit of a genius with frequencies, isn't he? and his tunes are just getting better and better, it's like he has no limits.
well worth it
Just like his remix of Dave Elvis, best christmas song ever!

Shackleton is awesome isnt he.

If you're into Pole/Shackleton well, nuff said.
Gon be getting some of this then.
Something special to search out first?
Iration Steppas
Biggest bass I've ever heard prob even more so than Shackleton/Digital Mystikz is Iration Steppas. But I have no clue what so ever what they played. It was all dubplates of their own bits and other digi dub stuff. You just have to go see them on their own soundsystem to beleave it really its insane. They use to make acid house/bleep as Ital Rockers who I liked to above too: http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4309558#r6404602
Toasty - The Knowledge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX-Qhuc_WVo
Julio Bashmore - Batak Groove

This sounds pleasing to me.
There was a mental secret track on Leftfield's debut
which had some awesome bass rolling around.
That's it 21st century poem - sort of a secret track at the end of the album. I remember shaking a friend's speaker off his shelf playing this bit.
