but I've listened to 'Desire Lines' about 20 times this evening alone. WHATS HAPPENING
... quite different from the last one but in a good way.
That last song is amazing!
i've never been much into his atlas sound material but with this one he creates such a special atmosphere, feels like he's figured out what AS is supposed to be and it's wonderful.
Sub-thread-in-waiting - as someone who hasn't really listened to Deerhunter or previous Atlas Sound stuff, where would I go from this? Microcastle or Logos, perhaps?
I find Microcastle more poppy and raw. my favourite of his though
best of all
But then, I've heard people say they thought it was a massive let down after 'Let the Blind...' There aren't any obvious weak points in his discography and tbh I'd say it would be too subjective to pink out an obvious starting point. I think all the proper releases are on spotify, so you may as well just pick the nicest cover! It's hard to go wrong
My favourite are Cryptograms from Deerhunter and Let The Blind... from Atlas Sound but their isn't much between them all bar maybe Turn It Up... Deerhunter's debut which isn't really a good starting point tbh. Saying that Microcastle and Logos are prob easier to get on board with right away. Really need to listen to Parallax, haven't had chance yet.
One of my favourite albums EVAR.
and Cryptograms are Bradford Cox in top form.
properly properly great
like Blue Velvet in space, or something.
All of Cox's music has a really Lynchian feel, in the best possible way.
