Tomorrow. Who's going?
on my tod
fingers crossed for Hate My Way, Colder, Marriage Tree and pretty much all of The Real Ramona (apart from the Tanya songs, I guess)
hungover: I don't know what they're playing on this tour, but based on seeing them in 2003 and 2009 you're in with a good shot of the first three and absolutely zero chance of any Ramona stuff, more's the pity.
MESSAGE ME AND I'LL EMAIL YOU.
and Throwing Muses are on about 9 according to this (so probably Spectrals on at 8)
expecting a 9pm-ish start too. I'll probably watch some of the football at The Walkabout next door before the gig. I'm not a fan of Walkabouts but they have loads of screens for football matches.
They were crap in the 90s, I bet they're worse today.
v just doesn't cut it
Sound was rubbish for the first 20mins or so though, which was a shame. Yeah, it's a pity they don't play anything from Ramona - I think Kristin's just not that into their 'pop' stuff anymore - I've never read anything that suggests she actually hates it, but I guess the fact only one track was on Anthology speaks volumes. Maybe it's a trio vs quartet thing. Still, even if they didn't want to play Counting Backwards then something heavier like Ellen West would have been great. But yeah, good setlist in general, Kristin's bizarre story after Pearl was awesome.
there were quite a few of the poppier songs, Bright Yellow Gun, Shark, etc. as well as tracks from the later Muses albums (University, Red Heaven, Limbo), so a good mix IMO. Loved this show! They used to play songs from Real Ramona, Two Step and Hook in her Head were definitely live staples...
Setlist (from Kristin Hersh forum)
Garoux des Larmes
Speed and Sleep
Bright Yellow Gun
Hate My Way
Fish (performed solo)
White Bikini Sand
I mean that synthy, bubblegum-ish stuff, the post Tanya stuff is more grungepop. Still jolly good though. That acoustic version of 'Fish' was awesome.
They get more and more muscular over time. Literally so in the buff case of Narcizo. Pity the set was so short - they used to play longer, and I am assuming by the fact that the tunes are all played one or two keys lower than they were recorded, it might have something to do with Kristin's voice.
So long as she can still scream 'Welcome HOOOOOOOOMMMEE!!!!' I will take whatever else she wants to play.
