Where was this? Were you there?
I saw Ash play to 100 people in a 800 capacity once after Free All Angels came out. Sad.
i was there and left after 4 or 5 songs. they were 'headliners' of the ley lines festival.
Was thinking about heading down that way but decided to come back to London instead.
my friend's band played that stage earlier on
The Big Pink were only announced on the day, and it's not like they're currently a 'active' (it was their first show of 2011)
Maybe they aren't big enough to fill the whole venue, but only *60* people? Insane
At least he didn't hide behind bouncers like Ian Brown did. If you're gonna talk the talk...
Nor read this article before (http://www.nme.com/news/the-big-pink/51174) where he brings out the "Lee Cattermole defence: 'I've never hit anybody in my life...'
the singer was really nice when i met him a couple of years back
Back when they played with The XX and A Grave With No Name, they were all pretty friendly afterwards. Drummer seemed a little crazy though.
but she got kicked out of the bar that night, seemed a little hyper.
Probably just an off night or something.
more bands in the uk knocked out loud, obnoxious hecklers runining it for everyone else, then i'd go to more gigs
not saying the lead singer is a model citizen.
But how many times do security at a gig stop a rowdy heckler? Zero in my experience. So, if a band wants to take care of business, they should. Like Crystal Castles.
good label, that.
jenga pieces or something.
Poor show, Big Pink. Poor show.
can't think of any other reason than it being undersold. although the bully is prolly less than a third the size of where the big pink played and every band i saw there had a bigger audience than the big pink.
they only seem to have been announced as special headliner guests that morning.
the promoters behind the festival are good people (they also run dot-to-dot), and the smaller venues were reasonably well attended.
Which is fine, as there are many rooms etc.
I saw Sparklehorse at the Sherperds Bush Empire about one third full. Was a fucking great gig though.
was half the downstairs and all of the upstairs closed or something?
For which I feel very lucky to have attended.
Have The Big Pink just died on their arse or something? Even at short notice 18 months ago the place wuld have been pretty full.
even considering they were only announced the same morning, I'd have expected more than 60 people.
