Which is even more insane when you consider the size of the population....
maintain being in the top 3 for so long. I guess this goes some way to answering it, but still, she sells 30k records a week?!
the type of people who buy Adele's records are less likely to be the sort who illegally download music. Coupled with the fact she simply has been a big success, producing music with a broad appeal.
That album came out a solid few months ago too. How many copies are people buying?!
I think I often forget there's 60mil in the UK, considering everyone knows each other. That's only 1/20th of the British population. I guess that stat is less shocking.
10mil worldwide mind, and its awful. Read this earlier, found it amusing: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/oct/08/adele-new-boring-ed-sheeran?fb=native&CMP=FBCNETTXT9038
she actually just has broken the top ten monetarily:
incredible list, there's some real stinkers in there
so that's 250K to make up, and when you think of the Christmas rush, new year sales, the bounce from all the Brits she'll win...
50p? I have no idea.
But even at that, she's cleared three quarters of a mil if she's shifting 30k albums per week for a year.
in America, (I think) from album sales alone. (and had to give half back, boo hoo)
How many did it used to be?
Because Ed Sheeran sold 102,000 three weeks ago.
Has UK album & single totals from 2006 to 2010.
In a five year period, total album sales have declined by 35 million. Digital uptake is not making up for the decline in CDs.
