just saying like
As ever, it's just been there in the background. But this track managed to puncture my awareness. Thought to myself, 'this is a bit interesting and out there for R2 at this time of day'. Then found out who it was by. Would listen again.
From the little I've heard, I probably need a Kate Bush album or two in my life. A simple Best Of is a tempting shortcut, but I get the (possibly mistaken) impression her albums are very much projects that deserve to be heard as standalone whole works.
So... what to get?
having already decided I'm going to buy this album, I'm happily ignoring this single so I can listen to the record as a whole
is the standard answer, and one I find hard to argue with.
Because The Kick Inside is obviously well better
Aerial and The Dreaming are both obscenely good.
Her Best Of is genuinely not a terrible place to start.

I think the first album The Kick Inside is a great place to start. It's very strong and less 'out there' than Hounds Of Love and particularly The Dreaming. Not that, I'm sure, 'out there' bothers most people on this site. But it's a good album to break into Kate's particular brand of idiosyncrasy.
God it's such a good album. Cloudbusting might be her best song I think.
Mixes her pop and 'artsy' side rather splendidly, gorgeous production and fantastic songs, generally brilliant overall.
sounded quite good tho.
It's a good song......quite interesting. It's not amazing but then I don't think she ever will be again. But I'm still happy she's still around doing her thing.
The second half of Aerial is as good as anything she's ever done!
I do agree that the days of her putting out barnstorming pop songs are probably behind her, but this is pretty cool. Do wonder what the full version will be like; as I understand it the average track length on 50 Words... is going to be about 10mins...
I don't want big pop singles from her, I want more long form concept/atmosphere projects a la Sky of Honey.
Well mixed...enjoying the drums...
from nice to one of the best things (if not the best thing) she's done since hounds of love.
the edited down version's never going to be that good.
3 more Yeti-tastic minutes
...and he'll scoff at it
