rank radiohead albums, you're going to have to get used to it
also, welcome etc
ranking Radiohead albums > ranking albums by other artists
Rankin' Roger > Rankin' Radiohead

the first recommendation
I have is that if you like Motown you should get on Stax. i checked them out after reading a review that said something like "if Motown took you out for dinner and kissed you goodnight on the doorstep, Stax took you to the backseat of the car before you arrived at the restaurant". basically just a bit rougher, boozier and more mischievous than motown but similarly staggering quality.

grimes ~ geidi prunes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJEnkJHumLU (not on this cd)
balam acab ~ wander/wonder

Totally OT
But that Julia Holter LP is amazing isnt it? I was profoundly miffed I missed the wax of it and the only other place i've seen it is where someones stuck one on Discogs for a hundred quid ><
it's getting repressed soon i hear. which is really great news. brilliant record. varied, clever & sensitive.
beyond any kind of buzzword you can throw at it.
maybe a bit off-topic but i think i had the same idea as still_here perhaps the OP would like to move from massive attack to something faintly related but a little more 2011
Thrilled to hear that, it's probably one of the best things I've heard so far thisyear
Also, wasnt having a go at you, was refencing that I was being offtopic :P
To the OP:

Try looking in your local supermarket...
for out of date John West
Get into some new genres
Pantha Du Prince does minimal techno
Eluvium does ambient
Neither are really that far removed from the sort of atmospherics of sigur ros and mogwai etc.
Japandroids are pretty much the only band to match Mew for fun-ness.
