Lets celebrate this great unappreciated music video.
Some of the lookalikes are amazing.
Really underrated song too.
But contestants from 'Stars In Their Eyes'. I'm pretty certain that the show's producers only let them appear on the condition that Jarvis did a turn - hence him doing his impression of Rolf Harris on a celebrity special.
I'm gradually becoming a huge fan of repetition in music...
would quite like to see it again but can't seem to find it. Massively enjoyed it at the time even though i had no idea who Jarvis Cocker was.
Aah, sing your song about all the sad imitations that got it so wrong
It's like a later "Tom & Jerry" when the two of them could talk
Like the Stones since the Eighties, like the last days of Southfork.
Like "Planet of the Apes" on TV, the second side of "'Til the Band Comes in"
Like an own-brand box of cornflakes: he's going to let you down my friend.
I love the story about how Jarvis completely forgot about the lyrics slagging off the second side of "Til the Band Comes In" until it came to to record the track. He then realised that he might offend the producer, and his hero, Scott Walker!
that the B-sides featured other artists performing "bad cover versions" of Pulp songs, particularly Nick Cave doing Disco 2000:
and the Brian May moment is class.
