So, I went to my local independent music shop, and one that I love. I missed it sorely in the US. Normally, when I go in, I know what they are playing; i've either got it, listened to it in passing, or maybe have heard of the band before but not found them compelling.
This weekend I dropped in and they were playing some shoegazey post-rock. Really enjoyable, so I asked who it was. It was Butterfly Explosion, and I'd recommend them. Apparently affilated with God is an Astronaut, but it feels like shades of Slow Dive and My Blooy Valentine, but also with Aereogramme in there too. Quite good.
What was the last time you bought an album based on hearing it in the shop?
