Bjork - favourite album/song/video?
Let's do a best of, where to start, kinda thread to coincide with the fact she's just been nominated for this fantastic award http://drownedinsound.com/news/4143395-bj%C3%B6rk-and-domino-records-founder-to-be-honoured-at-inaugural-independent-music-awards
My favourite Bjork album is Vespertine - so lush, perfect for late night despite the fact it's a little unnerving and is a bit underwater nightmare inducing. Pretty much one of my favourite albums, ever, Hence me, Mike and Colin deciding it would be this #1 http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/1254995
Not sure if I have an outright favourite song. Probably Big Time Sensuality when I'm in a club kinda mood and Army of Me when I need something intense.
All (?) the videos are up on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/bjorkdotcom#g/c/3B67AD70C84E5AB4
Oh and I'll compile a Spotify playlist of your picks, obviously.

Björk
Hyper-ballad or Joga
I refuse to believe anyone who says otherwise for a favourite Bjork song.
Favourite album's probably Joga really. Though Vespertine, Post and Debut are all pretty much fantastic.
also, Bjork at Bestival
so so excited for that... Greatest Hits set an all...
also also
because I keep forgetting stuff this morning. This version of Joga is just incredible...

Unravel
is one of the best things I've ever heard.
Also amazing -
Joga
Pluto
Hyper-Ballad
All is full of love
Most of 'Debut'
For a very, very long time I'd have said Venus As A Boy.
The first time I watched Leon (by far my favourite film), I was 8 years old (my parents weren't picky about what they let me watch, btw) and I absolutely fell in love with that song. It took me a few years to realise that it was the same person who'd sung Play Dead, another song that my sisters and I had become obsessed with after our parents had let us watch The Young Americans. But now I'd have to say Hyperballad, for song and for video. I'd probably go with Post for favourite album- I've not been the hugest fan of the stuff she's done in the last decade or so, although it has its highlights.
I'm sure most people will hate it, but I'm a big fan of The Starting Line's cover of Big Time Sensuality. Pop punk and Bjork pretty much sums up my musical tastes from age 7 to 16.

Always loved the Jools Holland Hyperballad performance, too.

Tough question.
Vespertine is the easy album choice for me, but favorite song and video are much tougher. For song I'd probably have to go with her B-Side, "Scary". It's just absolutely gorgeous. If not that then Undo as a close second. For favorite video, Who Is It? might be the cutest of them all. I can't get over Bjork's bell suit. Every Bjork video is amazing though!
Got to be..
Vespertine and Unison
Though 'Hunter', 'Pneumonia' and 'Desired Constellation' are all under-rated...
Favourite video, incidentally...
Fight between 'Hidden Place' and 'Declare Independence'
top three
Hyperballad
Joga
Bachelorette
I think...
Album: Homogenic
Song: Pagan Poetry/Pluto/Isobel
Video: Pagan Poetry/Who is it?
Easy
Album: Homogenic
Song: All is full of love
Video: All is full of love
^this
Let's Go...
Album: Homogenic (The one that got me into her - although anything up to Medulla is in with a shout)
Song: Hunter ("I tried to organise freedom, how Scandinavian of me" - one of my favourite lyrics of all time), although honourable mentions to Unison, Headphones, Isobel, Bachelorette & Who Is It.
Video: Big Time Sensuality (It's how she'll always be remembered, insane, or just insanely cute, in sepia on the back of that truck, whilst NYC has no idea what to make of her).
...
Album: Vespertine
Song: Hyperballad
Video: Triumph of the Heart (just because of how daft it is)
Homogenic's my favourite Bjork album by miles
Couldn't possibly pick a favourite song. Joga, Bachelorette, Unison, The Dull Flame of Desire, Hidden Place, Pagan Poetry, Hyperballad, Play Dead etc etc etc. Flipping love Bjork.
Ultimate Best Of:
1. Hunter
2. Cocoon
3. Who Is It?
4. Pagan Poetry
5. Joga
6. Unravel
7. Bachelorette
8. Possibly Maybe
9. Human Behaviour
10. Like Someone In Love
11. Hyper-Ballad
12. You've Been Flirting Again
13. All Is Full Of Love
14. Isobel
15. Venus As A Boy
16. Pluto
17. Unison
18. Headphones
Album is definitely Vespertine
No album I've heard comes close to capturing the feeling of magical intimacy that one does.
Song: I couldn't possibly pick one, or even a handful
Video: Bachelorette
Favourite remix? Right now I'm quite partial to the Ben Frost remix of Desired Constellation, but some of the tracks on the 'Best Mixes' album are classics in their own right.
Probably 'All Neon Like'
or something else off Homogenic (for some reason I'm not sure of the titles of most of them).
My favourite video is her performance of 'So Broken' on Jools Holland - the power of it blew me away when I saw it at the time. She looks so cool.
The ending is really really awkward as well, which is a bonus.

Album: Vespertine
Song: Cocoon, All is Full of Love, Unravel
Video: Pagan Poetry
Play Dead
Hyperballad
Amazing
Homogenic
Only really started to think of it as my favourite recently as I'd always said Post in the past.
Hyperballad - best song. Incredible. Love this performance of it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2r1Ji9_wPc
Bachelorette is my favourite video of hers, and possibly of all time
beautiful example of Michel Gondry's whole aesthetic.
Favourite track is Harm Of Will, I think, though it's subject to change.
Yeah, it definitely is this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epFazRWwz0g
my favourite Bjork album is Vespertine too
her, Valgeir Sigurdsson, Matmos, Thomas Knaak, Zeena Parkins, Matthew Herbert...just perfect coming-together of lots of very talented people to create something that is both incredibly clever and textured musically, and just affecting as anything, on an emotional level. really good.
Favourite song: either Mouth's Cradle or Bachelorette
more indie answer: Bath from Drawing Restraint 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1m2_q3tRQU (w/ Akira Rabelais)
best remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IciGs7CXDYE (Mika Vainio's version of Headphones)
Love Bjork
Album - Homogenic, definately in my top 10 of all time
Song - Probably Joga, it is unbelievably beautiful. Love the Brodsky Quartet version of Hyperballad (off Telegram)
Her performance of One Day in Manchester last month absolutely blew me away as did Joga and several others!
Album definitely Vespertine
Song probably Undo or Hyperballad. Least favourite song It's Oh So Quiet, such a shame that's what most people will remember her for.
Bit worried about the new stuff. The review in the Wire sums up how I feel about the stuff I've heard so far. Sounds like the less memorable stuff from Medulla given window dressing with the gimmicky stuff.
note to self
find other words for stuff.
my favourite
overall album is 'vespertine'. i think it's her most coherent long player, and i like the production very much.
songs-wise, in no particular order: 'isobel', 'possibly maybe', 'an echo, a stain', 'heirloom'.
to be honest, as much as i consider myself a fan, i haven't spent as much time with the last couple of albums. there were tracks that i really liked, but a few that i decidedly didn't e.g. 'declare independence'.
Vespertine
Gorgeous album, and the first one I heard by her. Not sure about a favourite song.
Bump. It is now OFFICIALLY bjork week on DiS
http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4143685-dis-meets-bj%C3%B6rk-part-1--beginnings
I missed this thread the first time round so, favourite album
probably Vespertine, such an exquisitely beautiful album.
it's hard to pick a favorite song but at a push Cocoon, possibly maybe or the pleasure is all mine.
Favourite video, probably Possibly Maybe.
