Sounds good so far...
It's really good.
It sounds like Beirut.
Not a bad thing.
But on first listen, I think the songs sound a fair bit stronger than his last offering - March of the Zapotec which I only listened to a couple of time. It's early days but there could be some really good, big, memorable songs on here to challenge The Flying Club Cup and Gulag Orkestar.
its available on itunes as well now
Beirut is the reason i bought a ukulele and have been so engrossed in music for two years :)
its made my bad day get a little better
Bit disappointed in it only being 33 mins long though.
But I don't think Condon has ever sounded better, in voice or lyrics.
starts of wonderfully then becomes a little meh. Will persist with it and hope for the best.
Also, I really enjoy the bit in vagabond with all the organs/piano
In case you didn't notice, they took over the site on Friday, and we've just popped up an interview with Mr Condon.

the songs are more like neat little brassy pop songs than balkan folk like his first album. I find it a little too restrained though, and I miss those epic bits from his first two albums where he would just warble along for ages and you couldn't make out any lyrics and it was almost like he was using his voice as another instrument, like on Mount Wroclai and Gulag Orkestar.
And I like how the album doesn't necessarily have a particular "world music" theme, but yeah hopefully that doesn't compromise the fun side of things
