I like the first two almost equally, but like the latter two a lot less. A lot of people will have this in reverse
and embrace my tidy generalisation
ST for me. 'What Goes On' is just so frickin good.
I think a lot of people prefer the others, which is no disgrace considering how good they are
I can't overstate my love for this record. Sure, there's no John Cale, but you get the best songs laid end-to-end in stunning extend-o-jamz.
Although they're all great.
...so I'll place the banana album and the 3rd album level, with WL/WH just behind them.
is bloody brilliant, especially the epic 9-minute version of What Goes On.
Loaded was always my least favorite but now that it's the only one I haven't listened to 1000 times it's like discovering their lost album so I enjoy them all equally. Oh, also everything else they ever recorded as a band. Basically, perfect discography.
It's too bad that Lou Reed on his own is such a tool. 1969 Live may be their finest hour. Well, White/White, Banana & #3 are great too. Loaded was too radio ready for me, but it'll do.
