what i'm hoping to achieve here
LARPing for people with no social skills.
on a number of levels
except doom > sludge > everything else
i knew there was something else to put in there, but i was too tired to figure it out
but thinking about it, for me somehow it exists outside of this ranking
NILE > Noisecore > grindcore > power violence > death metal > other guitar music
thats really boring, I mean I know they think they are being all cool and edgy, probably pooing on stage and stuff too, but its just dull.
so can't really trust your judgement
really really fun pisstake of hardcore with some strong politics.
Charles bronson to date: extremely funny/genius/childish/stupid puns a band names and skinny jeans.
Now that Holy Roar is on a mission to cash in the next Gallows is probably gonnna be Harold Shitman or Jonathon Ross
I also love how people who adore The Locust/Daughters/Holy Molar etc look at you blankly or are hostile when it comes to pv (even though half of Charles Bronson were in Holy Molar).
Not really sure what noisecore is.
in real life it means 7MON, Deche Charge, Nikudorei, The Gerogerigegege (the records with 100s of songs at least), World etc etc
whereas real life people can't get enough
''did you hear about seth putnam's untimely demise mrs bumbrella?''
''why yes, dear how unfortunate''
noisecore: people seem to think this only means Lightning Bolt
grindcore: has just become ridiculous now..and now that triggers are de rigueur everyone with a blastbeat is 'grind'. Also for some reason the more 'punk' and less metal the grind band the less they are appreciated in grindcore events (which means these same people would ahve hated well all the original grindcore bands).
powerviolence: It's fun..it's silly...but it has a solid self awareness. Lots of bands have jumped on the bandwagon in the last 5 year but you can tell who the shit ones are..they try too hard. pwerviolence is cute and innocent and sometimes angry..it's like a baby that flings shit at you from a cot...LEAVE IT ALONE
Death Metal: 00s death is full of nu-metal refugees that didn't finish their A-Levels. The ones that managed ot get into former polys listen make post-metal.
anyone got the Dead language Lp? It's seriously good. Members of Iron Lung, Pig Heart Transplant & stuff. think someone from MiTB is in there also. But anyway, it's really good - check it out:
SATAN'S REVENGE ON MANKIND ARE PLAYING
i was trying to get pv to go but she's on holiday, lamer
so you have someone to go with :D
Cancerous Womb are pretty good.
I got a demo ep at one of their gigs haha they played to me and about 9 other people. fucking great.
Powerviolence. I ask you.
on getting hte joke
power violence = silly
power electronics = serious
Max Power = My attempt at a joke is not funny in the slightest.
and I have nothing to add to it.
The Burzums was the musical project by Varg "Charlie" Vikernes. It began during 1961 in Bergen, California and quickly became prominent within the early Californian surf scene. During 1962 and 1963, The Burzums recorded four albums; however, in 1964 Vikernes was convicted and imprisoned for stealing a box of matches, stealing a box of matches on a Sunday, siphoning fuel from a parked Studbaker, posessing a guitar amp rated above 10 Watts (the upper threshold of human hearing in 1964) and protesting loudly about how much of his hard earned money was creamed off and wasted on that joke of an airplane known as the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter. While imprisoned, Vikernes recorded two offensively bad albums in the dark ambient surf style."
I quite like them
later albums (Terrifyer onwards) not so much, but still raging. Ace though.
Comparing genres is fucking stupid.
because grindcore/grime crossover would be pretty much the greatest genre possible. I'll have to settle for grime/power electronics I guess.
but where all members dress like American cops with fake moustaches and shades.
Thinking of the name Police Department, but that's probably been used before. Lots of scope for distasteful jokes and good photos though.
for my powersuitviolence band.
80s mobile phone/mic
thrash metal > folk metal > black metal > crust punk or "powerviolence" > grindcore >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> rest of the metal subgenres (anything including the word "noise" doesn't count though because it's garbage.)

"[King Terry] believes that there are essentially four types of art:
(1) Heta-uma [Bad-good]-a high level of achievement, requiring great practice. The goal to be attained.
(2) Uma-uma [Good-good]-the truly amazing "professionals," those who can astound everyone with their works. The creme de la creme.
(3) Heta-heta [Bad-bad]-the truely bad amateur, who has neither technique nor sensibility. The average person.
(4) Uma-heta [Good-bad]-the professional whose technique is good but whose work lacks life. No soul."

I don't understand this post, gonna leave now
maybe not this electronic grincore noise stuff that's floating around now but grindcore has always been a metal thing.
actually srike that queercore was rubbish
FREE 27 minute album by Total Fucking Blood. So much aggression, so much pain.

Free web re-release of our much delayed and little-heard 200? CDr
54 tracks of South Wales haikore/happy grindcore/noisecore in 21 minutes
are a pretty great current UK powerviolence band - http://witchcult.tumblr.com/
think they're supporting Napalm Death in a few weeks. ROAR.
i now own 3 Gerogerigegege 7"s and two Sore Throat t-shirts :-S
you are crazy
and enjoy all at once?
On it, amongst Charlies Bronson, Spazz and Despise you, was a band called Unanswered. They were fucking unbelievable but there stuff is impossible to get other than on the odd split or two.
I mean, I love bands like Melt-Banana and Cutting Pink With Knives (their effects/synths make them sound almost summery). I like Pig Destroyer's Phantom Limb (good grooves) and more hardcore stuff like Some Girls. I'm sure this doesn't make me a "proper" fan, but that's ok.
Saw them play in 2004 with Dave Witte on drums. Great stuff
Maybe arguable where exactly they fit into the above genres but who cares.
this is one of my favourite sample ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi8h4WlJpbk the angry scriptures man/hysterical woman laughing is fucking unpleasant.
a bit too far outside the remit of this thread maybeeeee :-/
tho of course i am in favour of some of the more extreme dance [___]core genres!
I played at a breakcore/speedcore thing in nottingham once, it was pretty amazing but weird demographic, mix of dreadlocked/punk brighton breakcore/noise guys and nottingham skinhead tracksuit speedcore guys on crack, fun times.
