Primavera Sound 2012
Yeah yeah. It's July. I know.
But I wondered if anyone had seen this post on the English forum, and what they thought of it.
http://www.primaverasound.com/foros/viewtopic.php?t=7440
Interesting huh? It seems as though they do kind of care what people think, and about the problems they had this year. Anyway, if people want to talk about it, let's do it here.

I'm From Barcelona
1000 replies!
Well, I wouldn't be too bothered about 20 euros more.
I dunno if 40 down to 35000 would make such a marked difference really. Did they put it up by 15000 last year or am I imagining it.
Good to see they're trying to sort out the bars. Whether it'll actually work...
More importantly, they're doing another festival in a different city. Part of me's quite intrigued, the other part a bit dismissive. I don't really want Primavera to be a chain. Would kind of lessen the experience if you knew the exact same thing was gonna happen a week later. Also, they need to get their own house in order before building another one...
Thoughts
Reducing by 5000 pointless. Just don't *increase* the capacity. I don't think it was too busy, and it ensures a decent crowd for the real late night stuff.
Continuous programme at Llevant? No thanks. I like the fact that the main acts don't overlap too much and there aren't too many clashes. Having twice as much on that stage would cause a nightmare running there and back.
Scrap the cards - did anyone enjoy them when they were working?
Sound, bars, cost, auditori etc. - Thumbs up, plans sound good.
I enjoyed the cards when they working!
Really? Why? How was it better than money?
don't have to worry about change? or cash in general/pickpockets?
i think every single time i went to the bar with cash i got under or over charged. none of the staff knew how much drinks were, nor could they do math.
Actually, I thought the main overcrowding issue was that the Llevant and San Miguel ran in tandem
and as such you had a large portion of the site walking back and forth between the two down some quite narrow pathways.
I think having them clash would alleviate the problem as people would be at one or the other
Nice to see these things being discussed.
I didn't go this year, but went last year, and whilst it wasn't perfect (the issue with the buses requiring a special bus ticket to be bought beforehand, which was not advertised well at all, being my main issue, as well as the sound being a bit quiet) I had a really good time, far preferable to any recent experience I've had at a festival of that size in the UK.
The sound being quiet?!
Yeah, totally.
I think it was the ATP stage and the one behind it in particular that seemed to lack volume.
What's with the rumoured 2nd site?
http://www.primaverasound.com/foros/viewtopic.php?t=7453
http://primaverasoundinternational.wordpress.com/2011/07/18/extra/
Hope it's not London. A big attraction of PS is that it's in Barcelona.
Noooooooo they need to learn their lessons from other festivals that have got too big for their boots
They didn't even sell this one out! And if it was in London that would massively cut the crowd in Spain.
Good point actually
Fewer Brits in Barcelona = good thing
Maybe it will be Berlin...
yeah idk about this second site thing.
would be cool in berlin i guess though.
Optimus Primavera
It's in Porto, the weekend after PS (around 7th June) - to clarify, PS starts on 30th of May... I picked up a ticket for about €60 - only 3 days, less bands but they're advertising there'll be a lot of local stuff too which could be interesting.
Barca - Madrid (?) - Porto ---> awesome holiday to start the summer!
I'm in agreement with people here TBH.
I'm not sure reducing it by 5000 would make much difference. Last year was my first year and it didn't feel *that* busy TBH. I'd be happy to pay the extra however because I had such a good time.
Compared to say Glastonbury, it wasn't busy at all
Compared to last year it was a marked contrast. There was a massive crush getting away from The Walkmen and that just didn't happen at all.
I dunno, the site felt like it flowed a lot better in 2010 and this year it felt they made loads of changes that didn't work in practise
^ This
This year was the worse one I've been to and I've been going every year since 2007, still pisses on any UK festival.
Good to see they are having a re-think.
That's interesting.
I saw loads of bands and wandered around the different stages but didn't encounter any real crushes, but yeah, I guess they must have happened. Reducing it by 5000 would, maybe, solve it.
this ^
it was stupid, they increased the capacity, and increased the actual SIZE, but then seemed to forget that an extra amount of people would be MOVING from place to place. if that makes sense.
Curious to know where the other site will be
I've already made up my mind I won't be going next year though.
I really enjoyed it
I understood people's frustrations about the issues compared to previous years but I think if I can afford it, I'll go again.
Its more that I want to see
more cities - been to Barcelona every summer for the last 6 years (5 Primaveras and 1 Sonar) so want a change. I realise this is the most middle class problem ever but y'know.
Yeah that's fair enough
Not that I actually saw much of Barcelona myself mind! Next time, I think I'll go for 5 days...
It'll be a tough choice if they do other one on in Berlin.
Barcelona has the sun, a beach and a damn fine festival site, but Berlin is waaaay cooler and there'd be more to do outside the festival I reckon. Plus Germans >> The Spanish.
maybe
they are stepping into the gap left by the May ATP's no longer going ahead, and doing it in London?
London? May? Ha ha.
It will rain.
And what would they call it?
Prima- fackin'-vera?
I'll be going next year regardless...
Decided not to go this year, and I well truly regretted it.I hope they don't have one in London, as going abroad is a massive draw for me. Berlin would be great, its fucking boiling there come may time.
There's nowhere in London that is outdoors and would allow a 7am curfew is there?
Berlin on the other hand...
Also this person on the forum needs to grow a pair
"The most unpleasant thing at the festival is when people with beer go into crowd to the stage, dancing and jumping there, thus pouring beer on other people.
It would be ideal, if beer were authorized to be drunk only in food court zones, instead of near the stages
Thus the general gathering in bars won't decrease, but on the contrary"
I went to a music venue in Portland a few weeks back where
the bar and band-watching areas were totally separate. they were in the same room and all, but with barriers between them. it was really odd, especially cos at times there'd be about 20 people watching the bands and 100 in the bar area.
really, the most unpleasant thing about Prima was all the men pissing in the trees by the ATP stage. trying to sit under the trees and on the cool grass and watch Low? DENIED SMELL OF URINE
sorry about that
*girls shitting loads twice their body mass then ending with quick 'flick wipe' of thier front and back botties
idk if I'd go again
I had, like a pretty good time, but I didn't get on well with the hours (never lasted past 4am, and I've been to a festival since that had hotter weather and had bands during the day, and I survived that just fine) and while it may have a million good bands, they all clash all the time, so it's a bit of a false economy.
i dunno, i guess I picked the wrong year to go for the first time, but it didn't really feel like it was worth the extra effort to go to over ATP (although, no more spring events makes that a moo point) or End of the Road or whatever.
moo!
yeah ok,
but that's not the point of the thread, the point is about the proposed changes and what you think of them.
yeah, get the fuck out of this thread...
the capacity was a little much around the bigger stages, especially as the Spanish are apparently worse than the English for talking through bands
the cards were fine once they actually worked, but separate cash/card bars is probably a better way to go
build a monorail to the llevant stage or something
stop FILTHY MEN PISSING IN THE TREES
more seating
yo momma
to be fair there is loads of seating around the stages compared to other festivals
the atp stage and the ray ban stage have those steps which everyone sits on. and those massive deckchairs at the llevant were cool until they got broken.
i thought this was the full on 2012 thread
if not, i retract my 1000 replies post. you'll be lucky to hit 50.
didnt the lineup make it worth going to over ATP?
even back when ATP had great lineups i don't think there was anything as strong as this years primevara.
on paper, sure
but its a false economy in Real Life because there is only so much time in the day and only so many slots - literally everyone i wanted to see this year clashed with someone else i wanted to see.
dates for next year?
this is what is important to me at the moment
30 May - 3 June
Is that definite?
That ties in nicely with the 4-day weekend for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
oh what rly?
maybe i'll be able to go then... my contract ends 31. mai which is the thursday. yeaaaaaaaahhhh
a little bit off-topic
but does someone know exactly what i'll get for my 150 euros when i book a vip ticket on monday for next year? anyone had one before?
uh free beer i think
you have to drink it in the vip bit though
access to vip area which serves free beer is a given
nothing else in guaranteed - take it from me.
also I like the optimism that you will get a VIP ticket on monday
good luck
ha ha, yeah
i'm sure it will be tough to get hold of a vip but i am an optimistic sort. in a world where there's flaming lips, cm punk and primavera why not be?
so the 'guaranteed entry' to auditori sets is nonsense then? mind you i reckon you could drink 150 euros worth of beer in the vip bit over the three days quite neatly...
it was nonsense this year I tell thee
Isn't there also separate access to the main arena and to Poble Espanyol?
That'd be pretty useful. Heck, just being able to get beer on Thursday night would've been really useful, and €150 is less than what normal tickets will eventually cost.
When do they usually reveal the line-up?
And when do tickets usually sell out?
Have been wanting to go for years, but have never quite got my act together. I'd probably be happy to book a ticket without knowing the lineup, but encouraging other people to join me will likely require some idea of the line-up...
Pretty sure tickets have never sold out.
First 10 bands were announced October of last year I *think*, then small trickles every month or so after that.
Cool, thanks.
Final question: does accommodation need to be booked up ages in advance, or is reasonably priced stuff available closer to the time?
I've always booked around March ish and it's been fine.
Don't leave it TOO late though, are you listening Scout / Chintzy?
define reasonable
Do you tend to go for hotel rooms
or serviced appartment-type things (that I understand are quite common in Spain)?
FFS
How many questions would a woodchuck ask if a woodchuck could.
Stay wherever you fancy.
Stayed in hostels the first 4 years I went but upgraded to an
apartment this year. Think it worked out around €150 ish each between 3 of us. I suggest you book your flights well in advance, the money you save by doing that spend on a decent bed.
don't fly with ryan air their Barcelona airport is miles away.
Thanks
No more questions! For now...
hi
were are the details of prices/ticket sale dates?
Info on PS 2012 & Primavera Club 2011
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=noticias¬icia=328&lang=en
On another note, the dates of San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 have been confirmed, the main days of the event will be held from the 30th May until the 3rd June next year.
Next Monday 25th July from 10am a limited number of the following VIP full festival tickets will go on sale until they sell out:
- San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 VIP full festival ticket: 150€ (+ booking fee)
- San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 VIP + San Miguel Primavera Club 2011 combined full festival ticket (Barcelona or Madrid): 175 € (+ booking fee)
- San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 VIP + San Miguel Primavera Club 2011 (Barcelona or Madrid) + supplement Fleet Foxes: 195 € (+ booking fee)
The full festival ticket can only be bought on the Primavera Sound Portal and will only be available to people who have a San Miguel Primavera Sound 2011 full festival ticket card associated to a user account on the Portal. Each user will be able to buy a maximum of two VIP full festival tickets, be they combined or only for San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012. It will not be possible to change the name or to get refunds (except if the event is cancelled). The VIP full festival tickets must be collected during San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012.
The San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 VIP full festival ticket includes access to the VIP area on the Parc del Fòrum site with discount price food and drinks and preferential access to the concerts on the Rockdelux stage (auditorium with limited capacity), among other advantages.
discount food and drink
Not free then?
...

So... what? If I buy two... and you can't change the name... then what, I go twice or something? I don't understand that.
I bought 2 VIP tickets for 2011
and had to stipulate the names of both people attending at the time of booking (July 2010). Same here I guess.
At the VIP wristband exchange - they insisted on id from BOTH ticketholders.
so VIP for 2012 is limited to those with access to a 2011 account?
Seems so :-D
I had VIP last year and the description only get said discounted drinks.
You got free San Miguel in the VIP area tho and discounted drinks/food in the press area.
damn
didn't go last year, so can't go for VIP this year!
More Primavera Portal fun......
SALE OF FULL FESTIVAL VIP TICKETS
The sale of full festival VIP tickets through the San Miguel Primavera Sound portal has had to be stopped for technical reasons.
At 1:00pm today, the sale of full festival VIP tickets (normal and combined) will resume through Paypal at www.primaverasound.com. It will be possible to buy a maximum of two full festival tickets per person and it will not be necessary to be registered on the Portal in order to do so.
Those people who have paid money into their Portal account with the intention of buying these tickets, will have an automatic reservation that they can confirm by writing an email to portal@primaverasound.com to validate the purchase.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
I can't believe they're still using the portal.
this doesn't bode well for the 2012 bars queues
I thought it was great
There were a few bizarre scheduling gaps, but I think that was to do with the football. I quite liked the fact that most stages had big gaps between bands, it kept the crowd moving about rather than handcuffing themselves to the barrier to wait for the headline act.
I also didn't have a problem with strolling to the Levant stage, it's not like you couldn't have a beer whilst doing it.
VIP sorted
got our vip tickets
despite the portal nonsense - and forgetting about the time difference. roll on 2012. fingers crossed for as stellar a line-up as usual...
Have two VIP tickets now.
Not entirely sure I can actually make it due to Uni commitments but I have two VIP tickets at least!
I hear that VIP tickets have sold out!?
Darn that was quick, though I can't get them at the moment anyway.
yep! already sold out
I can't get my tickets for AGES yet which has never been a problem before so hoping it'll be cool still this year.
Booked VIP
Can't wait. The festival this year was bloody good, far better than anything I've experienced in the UK. Going to Glastonbury was a reminder of this...
Me too...
... British festivals are sick in comparison. The only one I can cope with is End of the Road.
Also, did they ever announce that second site? Personally, and selfishly of course, I hope they bailed on that idea.
They've just tweeted this
"El lunes 3 de octubre se pondrán a la venta 1000 abonos a 99 euros para el #PS2012"
which Google translates to something like the first batch of tix will go on sale on October 3rd for 99 euros??
They've sent out an email to confirm this now.
As you can't get them from seetickets on 3rd October what's the best site to get them from if you're a)Based in Britain b)can't read a word of Spanish.
Thanks
yeah and for other international type people
buying from Australia, interested to know which is the best way?
i bought them using paypal last year.
easy cos all you need is the paypal confirmation email to get your wristband. last year the paypal queues at the apollo on the tuesday were non-existant, but people who had actual tickets had massive queues.
Some of you lot will have to hang out with me please
cos I'm going even thought I have no friends who want to.
do you have a boat?
it can be arranged
there's quite a few of us going from chorlton scout
..
I promise not to be all like
WHO?
again :(
Looking for tickets for Primavera Club 2011!
Does anyone have one or two spare tickets for Primavera Club 2011 (or combi ticket for Primavera Club 2011 and Primavera Sound 2012) ? You'll make someone and his girlfriend VERY happy...!
Any news on the seconds site?
Heard rumours of Porto...
Announcement next week
La semana que viene presentamos la nueva sede del Primavera Sound !
That was posted by Gabi on twitter
deffo going next year
DEFFO
Any bands announced on the 3rd...
Or is it just tickets going on sale? I thoroughly regretted not going this year for a third time, so I am adamant that I will be attending next year. The early bird tickets for Hellfest go on sale as well next week.
/Winter is expensive.
lets go to primavera next year
the second site
is apparently in Porto
http://www.festivaisverao.com/Forum/Outros-Festivais-Nacionais-2011/36590-Primavera-Sound-Porto.html#36590
i think i'd like to go to Porto?
well
i think you'd like it indeed :-)
Shit
Always wanted to go to Porto. That's annoyingly tempting.
Hmmmm
I wonder how much a train from Barcelona to Porto would be...
train?
ryanair dude.
Interesting.
Is Porto cheaper than Barcelona? Accommodation and food wise.
those were my thoughts
oh
yes.
I heard Porto won't have as many stages
And maybe not the 2 poble espanol gigs either.
Porto would be good.
I have some friends moving out there.
I have no idea what goes on in Porto.
Apart from the football team. i'm intrigued.
:-)
well lets see, there's a river and the sea and the beach, there's people and buildings, streets from before the 12th century and from last year, shopping streets, restaurants, buses, subway, train, planes, hospitals, schools, bars and museums, big gardens, little gardens, shopping centres, toilets, hotels, inns, b&bs, hostels, terraces, book stores, record stores, shoe shops, supermarkets.... it's pretty much like any other city in Europe. Only prettier. And there's Port wine for free. Top that. Ha!
É o maior, carago!
i
have booked barca flights today with easyjet.
So am definitely going for the first time!
Do seetickets sell this thorough the normal channels? they are listed as a seller
so
roll call on who is buying tickets tomorrow? I will be!
signing in for 6 years in a rowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
although everybody has deserted me after this year's cock-up..i'll give them another chance..
Possibly.
*raises hand*
Without question, I'll be there.
First time this year and loved every minute (well, apart from the Friday beer/card calamity!)
99 euros for something that good is astounding value, even considering the price of flights and accomodation.
Barcelona + great music? What's not to love?!
I really want to get one but I can't afford anything for the forseeable future
so once again I'll be buying it at the most expensive price. I also need someone to go with :(
I've got mine
And gorky's_forever's. After some anguish at Seetickets cutting in and out.
thanks matey!
I will be.
As their early birds are cheaper than the Hellfest ones that went on sale last week.
Think I'll stick with Barcelona this time.
Then, if well received, will check out Porto in 2013.
Yeah, wait til the inevitable fuck-ups have been sorted out
If stuff is still going wrong in Barcelona then Porto will be "interesting".
think it's being announced on fb etc
looks like it is indeed also going to be in Porto.
are these the headliners?
Primal Scream, Arcade Fire, Portishead, New Order.
I cant read portugese but this is from FACT magazine.
Just listing past headliners.
good, think i would have been disappointed if that were the case.
Are they going to have the same line ups?
Like Reading and Leeds do?
think the Porto leg, is going to be two days of music, with free shows around the city the day before and the day after the main event.
Nope!
Doesn't sound like it no. The email they've just sent out said:
Optimus Primavera Sound will have a line up consisting of a wide selection of international artists, as well as numerous artists from the Portuguese music scene. The artistic content will follow the same guidelines as the Barcelona event, that stands out for its stylistic variety, backing newcomer bands and musicians from the local scene, together with artists of long standing careers, and artists who have played a key inspirational role in the creation of contemporary music.
The programme will be distributed between 4 different stages. The main stage will be called Optimus, another will be commissioned by the British promoter All Tomorrow's Parties (ATP), that has been running a stage at San Miguel Primavera Sound in Barcelona for several years and other one will be for more electronic sounds, Djs as well as live acts, balancing between experimental and dance music.
when did the 65 Euro ones go on sale?
they went straight on at 99, this afternoon
€65 is the Porto one right?
€99 sold out I think whilst I was entering my card details.
See have sold out their allocation already.
they've just put some more on at See
Thanks for the heads up.
Just bought mine via PayPal. PHEW.
LINK?? PORTO ONE?
http://www.seetickets.com/Tour/PRIMAVERA-SOUND-porto-2012
TICKETS
I've got mine but Seetickets now has them again after dropping out for a bit - Paypal slightly cheaper and still selling them...
link?
main site
tickets, agree T&Cs, then paypal link
not seeing that anywhere....
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=entradas&lang=en
ah, thanks!
was looking for the porto one originally but looks like that clashes with the start of euro 2012 so just got two for this.
90 quid is insane value. wonder who will play...
Barca ones back on sale at Seetickets...
Kinda panicked when I thought they'd all gone but back now...
http://www.seetickets.com/Event/SAN-MIGUEL-PRIMAVERA-SOUND-2012/Parc-Del-Forum/593061
i
have mine paid for on Paypal.
They are not useless on paypal are they? Bit worried generally re: organisation...
Nah. Got mine via PayPal last year.
The queues to get the wristbands were better if you'd bought them via PayPal. If you had a physical ticket they were HUGE.
cool
I bought a few tickets, will it just be my id i'll need, or do they need the details of the others?
Nah, just your ID. It's very painless :)
nah its fine
you take your ID and print your reciept off, bobs your uncle.
just got two through seetickets
used them last year and got my wristband with a physical ticket last year on the Wednesday night. didnt have to queue for my wristband.
as well
as my query above, has this sold out?
it's never sold out before, it's october, and now there's two of them
chill brah.
and the Spanish youth aren't really wadded at the moment.
is this true that the festival hasn't sold out before? i can't buy my tickets till april and i'm getting twitchy
Probably a stupid question BUT,
does the Porto one have camping facilities or is it just a case of you getting your own accommodation for the weekend?
you sort your own accommodation out
Got my ticket.
Cheers.
Paypal ticket question - do I just need the Paypal confirmation?
Don't Primavera themselves send another email? I got a VIP in July and have only had the paypal email.
Cheers.
Yes, just the PayPal email.
I had no other emails from Primavera last year and it was fine.
Paypal confirmation
Sure that's all I had too, though I think I questioned it at the time and they said it was fine. I think there was a bit on one of the email notifications I received a week or two ago though saying VIP ticket holders need to email them names and ID/passport numbers for each ticket holder, presumably some time before next May
so
Who do people reckon will play?
I say:
Bon Iver
Bjork
Cure
Radiohead
Though the last 2 are wishful thinking more than anything.
Arcade Fire
were tagged on that trailer thing for the Optimus Primavera one. I hope that's some kind of hint.
Radiohead please.
Although I don't mind, really. The line up was stellar last year and I didn't really pay much attention to any of the headliners.
Bradford Cox - think it's the turn of Atlas Sound next year
Zola Jesus
Ryan Adams
St Vincent
M83
Shellac
Low
I hope there will be some heavier acts next year...
As was the case in 09 when the Jesus Lizard, Lightning Bolt, and Sunn were on the bill. The Melvins on the ATP stage would be all kinds of ace.
I agree, too much indie boy fannying around malarky going on this
year. Thank fuck for Swans and Shellac.
2012
I almost don't want Radiohead to play as I don't think I'd ever get over the disappointment if they played in the auditorium and I missed out on a ticket. If they do get booked I imagine they'll do an outside headline slot and an indoor one...
I'd love to see St Vincent, The War on Drugs, Atlas Sound, M83, Toro Y Moi, Bon Iver and (after a triumphant second album) THE AVALANCHES!!!
I just want Guided By Voices.
If those Mazzy Star return rumours were true, that would be amazing.
Someone give me a job at Primavera.
Seriously.
God I'm good.
1,000 more tickets on sale at €115 from 5pm (EU) tomorrow.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Primavera-Sound-Festival/156656398155
so
accomadation wise, anyone got apartments before?
got mine at
barcelonacheckin.com last year, they were by far the cheapest. Also apartmentsramblas.com is worth a look.
tickets back on sale now at 115 Euro
Just got mine on seetickets
:D
missed out again!
when's the next one?
next
one is Monday the 10th October: 3000 130 euros tickets onsale.
righto, i am on it this time
i'll have to educate myself on the time difference before then!
just
a reminder, more on sale today!
Wish they'd announce some bands already...
brilliant! got my tickets
when does the lineup start coming out?
last year it was the 19th october
excellent!
i just hope seetickets get our tickets out us here in Australia in time
well
It has been tweeted that there will be line up announcements very soon. I'm hoping cure and radiohead still!

Where is this from?
Never heard of half of them. Imagine if Slowdive reformed....
See Cranes, the Church, Roky Erikson and Bettie Serveert on there as well.
It's from the primavera sound forum
The people on there vote from that list of bands and then they get put in order of most popular and ask them in order until they get 10 bands, I think.
There are quite a lot of bands on there that I'd like to see, GZA, Madvillain, Sun Ra Arkestra, Teengirl Fantasy, Killimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Bohren und der Club of Gore, White Denim, Ras G and Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou would be pretty good.
MAGIC KIDS !
Seam!!
I'd travel to see just;
Seam
Slowdive
Silver Apples
Stars
so no stone roses for primavera....
So, Radiohead?
US dates announced for March, if they then do a European tour, Primavera would have to be an option.
hope so
would be very happy with that
Cap'n'Jazz!
i can attest that
seun kuti & egypt 80 absolutely demolished the kazimier the other night.
Codeine is the first confirmation
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/44590-numero-group-to-reissue-codeine-catalog-band-reunites-for-tour/
cool news!
i
think Guided by Voices and Bjork must be playing as well
the1
first announcement is tomorrow at 1.00 for bands
Isn't that 1pm Spanish time?
so 12pm here?
Spanish time
tickets are now €300!!!
"The batch of 3000 full festival tickets at 300€ (+ booking fee) for San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 in Barcelona are nearly sold out."
Is this a joke or something?? They've gone up from €130 to €300 in the space of about a month and surely once these 3000 are sold out they'll be even dearer.
Only 2 years ago I paid less that €100 for the full festival ticket plus the Primavera Club festival in the winter.
If this new price is true then I'll never go to the festival again.
panic over
must be a typo as the catalan and spanish translations say €130.
unless there is a price uplift for english speakers this year...
they are 130 on seetickets
must be a typo
BJORK!
Codeine
We already knew that, I think?
I assume GBV will play. But come on let it be Radiohead announced next.
GBV announced.
They're doing it alphabetically I assume.
Is that it?
Just Bjork and Codeine?
They were doing it one at a time
By posting links to Youtube on their Twitter feed. So you had to click on the link to see who they'd announced. Really irritating.
Jeff Mangum!
Is this just for Barcelona, does anyone know?
they've said that gbv are just Barcelona at the moment,
So I'd guess everyone else is for both.
Other Lives, and Yo La Tengo.
Looking great already
<3<3<3 Primavera
YO LA TENGO
Didn't expect them to be announced, I'm so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bah
I want radiohead.
*surely*
they're coming.
YLT
Were the last one of the day
I meant in a later announcement.
the later they announce Radiohead
the less 'lads on tour'.
works for me.
True
The amount of beer thrown around during Lotus Flower would be insufferable.
On a serious point, didn't the locals moan about the large numbers of foreign festival goers this year?
So what you're saying is, the lads will still come
but Radiohead will play a bunch of songs that no one really likes?
I think these are bloody brilliant.
Obviously it doesn't come as quite a shock now they've been rumoured so much....but I'm really happy with all of them (don't know Other Lives though)
Other Lives are a more dreamy, glitchy version of Fleet Foxes
They are also the main support on Radiohead's forthcoming US tour ...
Good live band, Other Lives
The played EoTR, one of the EoTR forum regulars was raving about them and basically demanded everyone go see them. Afterwards, he was surrounded by people thanking him...
Listened to their album, thought it was not bad.
Remind me a bit of The National.
solid first wave of announcments
jeff magnum in the spanish sun will be interesting...
Won't Mangum be in the Auditorium?
Pleased with this announcement. Want more now!
Wonder what Bjork will be performing next year? Considering The Spanish found it impossible to be quiet during 'Let England Shake' I very much doubt they'll not ruin 'Biophilia' if she's still doing that.
tickets
are back onsale for this now, for 160 euros.
If I've just read the email correctly
All of the bands announced today apart from GBV will be playing in Barcelona and Porto
According to the website.....
It's Björk, Jeff Mangum, Codeine, Yo La Tengo, Neon Indian and Other Lives for porto. I'm happy with that.
So, are GBV not doing Barca?
Just Porto?
Is that right? I hope not :(
wrong way round brah
no!
it's the other way round. GBV are just playing Barcelona
um
Gabi (festival organisor) twitted 2 hours ago(translated to English):
This year I see many metal bands in # PS12
I guess Slayer may well be playing this year then...
this is the best news in ever.
...
Metallicca
Sabbath
Slayer
Some new, relevant bands
/m\
Ace. Sleep and the Melvins too please...
On the ATP stage = Crushing as fuck.
this
is a somewhat odd post from the same guy:
'With the bands announced up till now we still have time to make the best line up ever or the biggest load of rubbish you can possibly imagine. Give us a little more time and then we’ll talk. For now we have announced the first few names nothing more.
A few days ago I told you on the forum that I was trying to come up with a leitmotiv common to the first bands announced. Obviously I haven’t come up with one.
I have written on other occasions that you don’t look for the line up, that somehow the line up comes to you. Well, this year I am having serious trouble working out what this edition is all about…And I am not saying that it is better or worse, but that for the moment I find this rather disconcerting. Maybe we are putting together the least Primavera Sound line up of the last few years and I would be hard pushed to explain why….Maybe it is the least obvious, because the options are a little more risky (risky for the programme I mean) or because there is too much novelty, who knows whether it is the fact that there are less repetitions or a smaller quota of classic bands at the festival, the question is that I am still not sure about the theme that I was talking about before. Or maybe, what I am trying to say is that, that is what is good about the 2012 edition it is not as obvious, it has less repetition and doesn’t resort to old allies as much……Maybe that is the theme, maybe that without being able to understand it we can already verbalise it. Long live PS2012!!!!!
Gabi'
Indeed.
Gabi is a woman, isn't she/he?
Not sure what they were trying to say exactly, I dunno if it'll be more 'indie' or less. The line up so far seems very in keeping with previous festivals. Maybe they've booked Shed Seven.
less safe atp-y bands, more risks?
fine by me. this years line-up seemed almost perfect, so think its good they're trying to do something different. that statement makes me think it won't really have a theme though, so not a majority of metally stuff
Well
If they have booked Slayer, that would be different.
well
Girls and Veronica Falls have self confirmed for this.
For Porto at least, Shellac and Walkmen have confirmed
http://www.festivaispt.org/9114-walkmen-shellac-optimus-primavera-sound-2012/
hehe shellac
I was as cynical as the next man in respect of Shellac playing
every year...they do however continue to be one of the highlights year in year out. Consistently brilliant live.
Walkmen better bloody be at Barcelona too.
I know they played 2011 but it was one of my highlights.
Also, spoke to one of Braids last week and asked if they were going to be there and he said 'Possibly' in a sheepish manner.
More announcements today at 1300
According to Twitter. (Presume that's Barcelona time, so noon in the UK).
Woah. C'mon all the bands I want.
Death in Vegas and Archers of Loaf
(announcing on FB first, then Twitter)
Why can't they just post all bands at once I don't want to sit here for 20 minutes while they do it one at a time I mean really.
It is really annoying, I kind of have to be somewhere else but the slow DRIP DRIP of announcements means I don't want to leave my desk :(
I suppose, at least they do it alphabetically.
:/
The Drums
D:
Godflesh
:|
Godflesh :/
Josh T. Pearson :|
:{
Mudhoney :\
Mudhoney
:|
:|
pretty uninspiring batch so far today. Not to worry though - i'm sure there'll be plenty of awesomeness stil lto come :)
only the drums so far for optimus :(
the worst.
oh man this is all kinda disappointing
suppose this is what i deserve for buying a ticket before anyone was announced
In fairness, the initial announcement for 2011 was:
Broadcast, Blank Dogs, Dan Melchior und Das Menace, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, Half Japanese and Sonny and the Sunsets. It's early days!
Dan Melchior und Das Menace were actually amazing in the end!
I
like it so far... As long radiohead are headlining.
Olivia Tremor Control for both!
and
Olivia Tremor Control
SBTRKT
So no Radiohead, yet.
SBTRKT
No 'head today then :(
Shellac
For a change
Given the timing of Radiohead's tour dates so far,
Benicassim seems a more likely bet.
shellac
what a surprise
the walkmen only playing porto
groan
Wilco
This makes me very happy. Verrrry happy :)
!!!
fuck yeah
Piss. My favourite band out of that lot are only doing Porto.
Having a terrible day.
So far there's a few things I'll be quite happy to watch (Bjork, Death in Vegas, Guided by Voices and Wilco for example)
but nothing I'm dead excited about. Then there's obviously The Drums and Shellac but there's enough stages for that not to matter.
So far it could go either way - if they announce a few bands I really love then, together with what's there, it'll be a great line-up. Otherwise it might be a bit "meh". Still Barcelona's great and most of my favourite things last year weren't the things I expected to enjoy.
Not really familiar with any of those really,
but the first batch was so amazing I can't complain. Gonna give SBTRKT, Godflesh and Josh T Pearson a listen. Death in Vegas have some good songs.
Not particularly amazing.
But still early days.
hmm
so much for the previous comments about them going for something different, i guess.
hey, Shellac have never played Optimus Primavera
Great announcements after the first disappointing batch
Death In Vegas
Mudhoney
Veronica Falls
Godflesh
Wilco
Josh T Pearson
SBTRKT
All get a massive thumbs up from me.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
GBV aside, there's very little i'm excited about so far
:(
My plan
Fly to Lisbon on the 3rd to see BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, then get the train to Porto for Optimus.
YEAH
Archers of Loaf!!!!!!
FUCK YES!!!!!
That and Mudhoney and Wilco makes this a great announcement for me
Still hoping for Radiohead
Radiohead confirmed at another portuguese festival
Alive 2012, July 15, Lisbon.
surely
that means Benicassim then
more announcements today at 3.
First on facebook, then on twitter, like yesterday.
SiskiWHO?
Also, if this is alphabetical it'll be a pretty short announcement.
The XX, Death Cab For Cutie, Explosions In The Sky e Beach House
And Spritualized and Dirty Three.
Are EITS Optimus only? Pretty happy about Death Cab and Beach House!
Dirty Three!
Death Cab, XX, Dirty Three (!!!!), Beach House (!!) and some Numbers DJs for both. Lisabo for Barcelona and Explosions in the Sky for Porto only.
OMFG!! Deadboy, Jackmaster and Oneman here!
I'm already dreaming.
Really happy with Death Cab, Dirty Three and Spiritualized.
EITS only playing Porto?
ugh >:(
so much for it being less safe and atp-y this year
d3, eits, beach house, spiritualized...hmm
I really like Spiritualized, Beach House and The XX...
but as Jordan says, it's a bit safe.
Last time I saw Spiritualized at Primavera some strange girl tried to take my shirt off.
The line up is clearly going to be...
a mix of loads of bands & artists that indie people like.
As far as this goes, they never fail remotely, and it looks great so far. I really have no idea what else people who expected to see a 'different direction' from a small sample of the line up, it's not going to have a load of 70s hair metal bands, J-Pop and Elvis impersonators is it?
don't think i've ever seen quite that many greying early-90's worshipped by ATPer bands on the line-up
as for Beach House, uuuuuuuuuuuuugghhhhh
i'm hoping they're going to add some more contemporary stuff or i might give it a miss this year.
there will be
but older bands with more established fan bases sell tickets. the young and exciting bands get released in a massive chunk later down the line.
all the cool kids are going to the Porto one...
it's named after a fucking transformer and it's the only one getting one of my spreadsheets.
See you at the chillwave stage bro!
i believe you mean the witch house stage.
Porto misses GBV, Mudhoney, Godflesh, Archers of Loaf...
...Death in Vegas, SBTRKT, Josh Pearson
so no dice, Barca all the way
^ not a cool kid
Any list anywhere of who is playing at which site?
Cheers.
I do have spreadsheet of this
but it's not on my work computer...
It's on the new mailout
Can you copy and paste please?
Oh here we are
Barcelona line-up is now:
Archers Of Loaf

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvUysQZOvaEZdFBUUVNlY1ZvamtlX2p1dDRicXpvX0E
I missed the announcements yesterday...
DIRTY THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. Definetely going to either of these two festivals now. Josh T Pearson as well, who was brillaint at the Barbican and the lexington last night.
GOD
FLESH
Is it me or do tickets seem to be increasing in price faster than last year?
Today's the last day to buy them at €160.
yep and last year was really quick compared to the year before..
I'm sure I paid 130 this time last year
and don't think they made it to 160 unless you bought on the door. Pretty big hike and not really a cheaper option than doing one of the big UK festivals anymore.
well for Primavera 2009 the tickets were under 100 Euros untill new years eve 2008
if my memory serves me correct..
ATP influence, innit.
still cheaper than irish ones though :(
oh yeah, your festivals are so fucking expensive
:(((
every year I'm like
I'M GOING TO ELECTRIC PICNIC
*opens webpage and sees ticket price*
AH FUCK THAT
just checked my receipt from 2008
and it was 99 Euros in mid February!!
Not sure if anyone has spotted this yet, or if it's been denied...
...but eFestivals are reporting that Radiohead's Bilbao BBK performance is a Spanish exclusive show. So unless they're going to spin it more than Shane Warne in a blender and claim it as a "Catalan Exclusive", that surely rules them out for Primavera?
http://www.efestivals.co.uk/news/11/111202c.shtml
They were announced for Optimus Alive in Lisbon earlier this week too
which most likely rules them out of Optimus Primavera as well.
Mazzy Star have been announced for that festival as well,
I think.
I'll be gutted if they can't play Primavera.
anyone interested in buying two tickets for this?
99% sure i wont wanna go, bought the early bird tickets, so you'd get two for £200, which is obviously way cheaper than tickets onsale now
am trustworthy etc, just unsure about the logistics of selling them on
how did you buy them?
Was it through seetickets?
Barcelona or Porto?
paid via paypal
and its barca, but i'm pretty sure these are taken..
one new band announced at 13:00 GMT
via facebook..
must
be Bon Iver, since he is playign with Bjork for Roskilde...
ok
It's Franz Ferdinand.
Meh
Can't Josef K reform instead?
Franz Ferdinand is Barca only...
:)
bit
disappointing for me so far. bjork and franz as headliners? can't see me returning at the moment
where does it say that those two are the headliners?
I can see Bjork headlining but surely Franz Ferdinand will either headline the Llevante stage or be second on the main stage.
Unless they're significantly bigger in Spain than England that is.
it doesn't
i was just questioning.
maybe a bit early but
anyone got any tips on where to stay?
try diagonalflats.com
the picasso flats are near the yellow tube line and the night bus from the forum. And right opposite a cool tapas bar.
I'm treating myself and staying here...
http://www.ohlahotel.com/en/
Glass sided pool on roof, Michelin starred restaurant, center of the City.
booked an apartment for a week on Diagonal
via this barcelonacheckin.com
some
New Confirmations are:
OFF!, SANDRO PERRI, A$AP ROCKY, BAXTER DURY and WHITE DENIM
those will fill that GBV hole
......my decision to go to Porto is slowly paying off
some
more announcements to be made later today
we
have announced:
Harvey Milk
Melvins
://
Oh man. Is that for Porto or Barcelona?
Really want to go to Porto (mainly because I don't actually like Barcelona that much as a place..)
orthodox...liturgy...
Sonar it is so. it's been emotional primavera
^indie bedwetter wuss
you've got me all wrong rockist-ATP-boy.
keep making assumptions though.
or look up Sonar, even.
just razzin' you
I'd like to go to Sonar too. But I don't know, a weekend entirely full of electronic music might drain me too much. Hence, Optimus Primavera looks like the cheap consensus choice as it provides a bit of heavy, a bit of girlfriend friendly stuff and a bit of electronic with the Numbers showcase. Can't afford the Barcelona ticket prices...
thinly veiled 'i've got a girlfriend' post
sorry, i come across a bit cranky there don't i. probably time for a change anyway
more a thinly veiled 'look at me I'm Mr Variety' post
but fair comment.
Girlfriend friendly??!!
!!!
Orthodox too
Whoever they are...
Ultra heavy spanish doom
Not bad
I just listened to some of their things on Youtube and a Napalm Death song called SCUM
Hmmm... I love the heavier genre (I woke myself up this morning by listening to Todd's Purity Pledge) but yeah, not so sure these additions are my cup of tea really
oooo
Sleep
Wolves in the throne room
Quite a dirgy little selection thus far it'd appear?
I'm still waiting for a band I'm really, really excited by.
There's a few I'm quite happy to watch but nothing yet making me think "Fuck Yeah!"
I think Andrew Bird or M83 would do this for me.
Come on Primavera.
and
Napalm Death
REALLY?
and
Mayhem
this is pretty underwhelming compared to last year
PREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETY UNDERWHELMING
you moan every year...but this time you're correct
no i dont
i moaned last year because i couldnt make it. year before i was a bit unimpressed with the last additions. hadn't paid any attention to it.
for Porto or Barcelona? or both?
Harvey Milk
The Melvins
Orthodox
Liturgy
Sleep
Napalm Death
Wolves in The Throne Room
Mayhem
Barcelona only.
More confirmations (including Porto's) in about an hour's time.
Mayhem?
People at metal festivals don't even watch Mayhem.
more confirmations at 3.30pm guys....
announcement made me prolapse
soooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood!
So.

Mazzy Star!
nothing for porto?
:(

Afghan Whigs i believe
Pretty disappointed by that.
Would have liked at least Justice to be announced for Porto as well.
Stone Roses @ Alive'12

Rumours on twitter that The Cure might play
Their facebook page says something about European festival dates being announced shortly. Also Gabi's tweet earlier today said that they had just booked the biggest band on the bill and it had taken 2 years of negotiations.
If I can get people to come, Porto is definitely on.
The Cure would hugely swing it. Are tickets still only €75 for that weekend?
they're €85
but going up with the next announcement
which
twitter? anyone of any substance?
gabi works for the festival
and is hugely reliable. not sure what his twitter address is or if it'll be the cure though. some more announcements will be made next friday i think
@gabiruizps
La banda más "grande" del cartel se cerró el miércoles después de dos años de negociaciones. Premio a la contratación más dilatada.
web • 14/01/2012 18:16
Flying Lotus, EMA, Death Grips, Shabazz Palaces, Ty Segall
King Krule and some more I can't see properly are playing.
https://twitter.com/#!/gabiruizps/status/158947677009223682/photo/1/large
Ty Segal, Wu Lyf, Dirty Beaches, King Krule, Nicolas Jaar (?)
Nicola Roberts, EMF, Dodgy?
I know how to play this game
This shall be the
PITCHFORK STAGE!
liturgy ?
The Maccabees!
hey everyone.
i'm not going to this festival but Drag City fucked up yesterday and posted this on their site:
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2726/unbenannt2rb.png
APPARENTLY
Please make this be true.
And please play the Portuguese one too.
They're announcing a big band
Friday 11am (spanish time)
The Polyphonic Spree
:p
The Magic Numbers?
Jools Holland's Rhythm & Blues Orchestra?
St Winifreds School Choir?
Thee oh sees confirmed for bcn and porto (gabi on twitter)
Excellent.
I need to book accomodation for Barcelona
Does anyone have any recommendations of something cheap? I wouldn't mind a hostel, but my spanish is non existent so would maybe feel more comfortable with somewhere a little larger if it could mean less hassle.
Forgot to say please!
most hostels
speak good english and are full of foreigners so you'll be fine.
Check www.booking.com
If there's a group of you, or even just 2,
an apartment may be cheaper:
http://www.barcelonacheckin.com/en
http://www.apartmentsramblas.com/
http://www.diagonalflats.com/
I booked mine just after Christmas, right near the Picasso Museum, and this year WE HAVE A TERRACE!!!!!
Cheers everyone.
I'm flying solo and doing a whole week.
only go for the nasty ones in the centre
if you find them cheap.
If you can't find people with an apartment I would recommend Urbany which is in Clot which is is 20 min walk to the site.
walking from festival site
is this the best way to get back to the centre of Barcelona. I need to book accommodation but obviously the majority of it is pretty central so am I saying the walk is well over an hour from the looks of it? Also, looking on the diagnalflats.com website, there's apartments that sleep up to 7 people but you can book them for 2 people at pretty much the same price as hostels - is this right? Any advice much appreciated!
In terms of transport
the tube system is very good durnig the day, and we had no problem getting busses back late at night.
It depends if you're wanting to spin it out into a holiday in the city.
If you're just going for the festival, I'd suggest getting an appartment up towards the site - it's a little cheaper than the centre of the city, and the places are new and shiny.
I'd probably say you won't want to walk back to the centre at 6am when you're a bit fucked and tired.
The metro re-opens early in the morning (I think it's open all night on the Saturday, I *think*), so I have waited for that in the past (well, not waited, but if you leave in the early hours then the metro will be running. Trams too. There are buses which take you back to Placa de Catalunya but I assume there'd be queues.
As for apartments, I actually booked mine on diagonalflats. A 6 person apartment for just 2 of us worked out at only a bit more expensive than the tiny ones which only have a sofa bed. So yeah, I imagine it is right.
I think I'm staying in the same building as you then
But I'm 1st floor this year (3rd last yr, fuck those stairs..). DiS meet!
:D
Nice. I love El Born <3
i always just got a taxi back...
20euro between 4 people is not so bad...
I stay in a hotel over the road now. That's not a cheap option admittedly, but it sure makes life easy
holiday
we're making a holiday of it and going mon-mon so thinking of getting an apartment.
I tried finding the set times form last year and it seems that bands don't finish til 5ish so surely getting a bus is going cause a few problems? If a taxi's only 20euro, i'm sure we can jump in with someone and hey - an hour walk back isn't ridiculous either.
I'm still really confused about what events are on before the weekend and what happens on sunday night as well???
The Saturday the tubes run all night.
Thursday and Friday you just need to get a cab.
Just stay out till 6 when the tube runs again.
the pre and afete fest shows
2 days either side of the main dates or what?
me too
interested to know what happen?
Well I'll just do a week too to be safe
I'll have to hang around after but don;t want to arrive too early
We had a couple of days in Sitges
afterwards last year. Lyeing on the beach and chilling. Very nice it was too. Train takes 45 minutes from Barcelona and costs €3. There's a bus from Sitges direct to Barcelona airport.
The coach back to UK is on the 9th from Rosas
but looking at it it looks like a swanky resort so I'll probably leave straight afte the fest and relax by a pool
That's what happened last year, yes.
They were evening shows with about 4 bands on the bill at a single-stage venue close to the olympic park.
Think they started around 7pm and finished about 12pm. I cant remember though.
There's also gigs from the Monday at a central gig venue
Never usually anything unmissable though.
the Apolo?
The best thing about that is afterwards, go round the corner to that bar with beer taps on the tables :D
More announcements in 5 minutes...
The Cure, maybe?
Gabi's just tweeted a photo of Robert Smith, I believe.
yep, they just confirmed on Facebook
Excellent, I saw them at Benicassim in 2008 I think and they did such a long set :D
Someone make me a Cure playlist on Spotify, stat.
although 2005 for me
oh yep, it was 2005 for me too
only years out, oops
*three years out
I don't even know if I went in 2008, I just make dates up in my head.
I WAS RIGHT! :-)
2+ hours :D
The band fronted by the charismatic Robert Smith, author of such unforgettable hits as "Friday I´m in Love", "Just Like Heaven" and "Boys Don´t Cry" will be performing on Friday 1st of June at the Parc del Fòrum site in a show that will last for over two hours during which they will play a selection of songs from their fourteen studio albums, including tracks from "Wish", celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year.
I'm going to be very sad if the Cure don't play Porto
very sad indeed
they
are not playing Porto. They are doing optimus live in portugal
ooooooooooooooh
hey ho, I suppose the difference in ticket prices probably bears it out...
Thank god all the Southern European Cure Fans won't be in Porto
Miserable bunch
Is this the one where they make you enter a lottery to get admission for the bigger bands?
trollwell
Just curious :(
That's for artists playing in the auditorium,
which were Sufjan and John Cage last year I think.
don't feed him...
Just booked tickets.
Was tempted to go to Porto, but this way I get to see The Cure and I make sure I'm not in the country for any Queen Jubilee celebrations...
when are we likely to get the press conference?
hate these drip feed lineups, just bang it all ffs
still need another big headliner im assuming
Yessss. Press conference is Monday, January 30th.
12.30 local time = 11.30 GMT I believe.
bands announced today...
which ones?
most of the rest of the line up
in just over 2 hours
Does that mean ticket prices go up for Porto
once the press conference has taken place?
yup, up to full price
does anyone know how easy itll be to resell porto tickets? still waiting on possible guestlist.
EXCITED!
Right, cheers.
Any idea what full price is? (Probably says this on the website, so excuse my laziness)
Answers please
so they announcing the full line up for both festivals?
What will be the new price for Porto & Barcelona?
These don't seem to be on the website?
porto isn't getting announce today
its just barcelona
there will be a porto press conference at a later time
for barca i think they need to announce about 75 bands or so to bring it up to the same level as they had after last years press conference... but then there are always a few more announcements in the weeks after.
Thanks Jamie
I'll put you up a peg or two.
Also will the ATP stage at porto be kinda similar to Barca?
at least some of the stuff
on it i know will be in both places.
but i guess most of the porto bands will be at the main un
perhaps about 40-50% of the ones added to the spanish line up?
lol
this should be happening now, right?
they're tweeting stuff in Spanish. Or Catalan.
should be possible to translate the band names
i'll give it a go.
they're translating it too
only thing of note i've seen so far is that there doesn't seem to be a Pitchfork stage...
scratch that
theres another tweet now which does include the p4k stage.
http://www.scannerfm.com/
watching it now
they're delaying it on twitter
Si The Cure son la banda mas grande del festival, lo de Beach Boys, Blur y Roxy Music es dificil #PS12
was some random guys tweet though...
lo de Beach Boys?!
pah i give up, no idea what that means.
LE GRILL??? WHAT THE HELL IS LE GRILL???
;-)
Urgh, I've got to be somewhere else now, away from a computer.
The announcements better be good.
The Cure, Bjork, Wilco

Mudvayne!
The Field!
i think they've stopped...
judging by their twitter?
Er, is that it?
I'd presumed a press conference would be the big reveal of everyone.
That's quite a big lineup y'know.
Pretty impressive too.
http://www.sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/artistas
don't like the new Prima website.
Clunky
I /think/ they might be announcing more names after they take questions.
Or maybe not actually.
I think the more to come meant in the next few months.
They definitely said more in the next few months.
10% TBA
not today though i dont think
also...Some bands are of a certain weight to be confirmed...
So was this a whole load of nothing then?

wait
are there a couple on there that they didn't announce? just noticed James Ferraro
There was over 40 bands announced
And no-ones mentioned The Wedding Present playing Seamonsters!!
That was the bit I got most excited about.
I bloody love Seamonsters.
from the spanish forum
so maybe take with a pinch of salt
66 full lineup for wednesday and sunday at the new arc de triomf site will be disclosed next friday
so far we know yann tiersen, the wedding present and nacho vegas will play there 99
Richard Hawley at sunset would be heaven...
... and Death Cab too - why has no one mentioned these. I am jealous - maybe this is the incentive I need to find a job!
When you get to the festival
Do you need the card you booked with for any reason? Because the one I used to buy my ticket expires tomorrow, or in february sometime.
should be fine
take your passport to the festival just in case
Cool, thanks
I'd need to bring it anyway so that's not a problem.
hello
Day splits
http://www.sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/programacion
so is this the absolute full lineup now?
with I presume The Cure, Wilco and... Yo La Tengo(??) headlining?
Clicked 'This' instead of reply! Anyway,
I think Bjork and The Cure are the 2 main headliners. Gabi said on the forum though that The XX, Franz and Wilco were also kinda headliners too and there might be one more to be announced..
apparently i completely missed that Bjork was on the lineup
(probably because i ignored the festival until about a week ago)
i
Think some more bands are due to be announced.
Yeah, like 10% or something
Gabi via twitter
The next confirmations for # PS12 will have to wait until the first week of March. So we give them all at once.
Porto too?
.
porto schmorto
sorry dude, I dunno.
Next week, apparently
Source: Gabi @ reply at someone on Twitter.
GAAAH
Not really sure how they expect
to sell any tickets to Porto if they're holding off on announcements until relatively late.
Difficulty of finding apartments atm
suggests they are doing OK so far
(I wouldn't complain if they hurried it up a bit though)
having a hard time finding a porto apartment
But I think it's just not as geared up for it as Barcelona is
Finding a big enough apartment for eight of un in Porto has been a pain.
We ended up getting 4 small ones in the same block.
So Jeff Mangum being in the auditori
It's cool if you get tickets...but if you don't?
I know theres two showings but it's still a bit of a risk and people are bound to be disappointed.
same as with Sufjan innit. I'm sure you will be able to get down early and queue
It's probably better to not see him
than to see him on a stage when the predominant noise is the bass from another stage.
it's indoors
and has maybe the best sound of any venue i've ever been to. it's pretty big too, i think most people who want to see him will be able to - i don't know many people who missed sufjan last time
i do
but agreed on the sound; it was stunning for the Low Great Destroyer gig
I think that was the point svenrokk was making
dont want to see him
so not right bothered, same with sufjan last year.
the Primavera twitter says there'll be Porto updates on the 15th (Wednesday)
The Weeknd has been announced for the Pitchfork stage
They're announcing the rest of the Barca line up
at noon tomorrow
exciting!

What the hell happened to Flying Lotus?!?
He was on the picture with the last of bands on it that got put on twitter?
that turned out to be a load of bollocks
about half the list ended up on the bill
Argh man, why?!
FlyLo was the one thing that would have made me decide to keep my ticket, now I can't really be bothered.
theres still a chance i guess
but :/
he is fucking ace live too
Oh really?
I thought this was the complete line up now.
i think thats the last big chunk
but if its like previous years the odd name gets added up until about a week or two before :/ maybe i imagined that though
I think this is pretty much it now.
Not bad.
Was expecting another headliner, but it's a pretty solid bill overall.
Yeah
from what they said I was expecting maybe one or two like Grizzly Bear/Low. It's a great line up though so never mind.
One thing I'm worried about is the fact that, with less 'big' names like last year I hope there aren't going to be a load of mid-sized bands ruined by being put on the Llevant stage.
I was thinking this
Thursday seems fine, but who are going to fill the nine(?) slots of the main two stages on Friday? Jeff Mangum is in the auditori so that leaves The Cure, as far as I can tell. Just about everyone else would be better off on Ray Ban or that other one with the steps up the side
Selling my ticket, does anyone here want it?
I don't know how much the tickets cost now but I'll sell mine for less than that, probably about £130.
I have actually found someone who wants to buy it
but I don't know how to get it to them, or what they would need from what I used to book. Does anybody else know???
I'm also hoping to buy a ticket off someone who no longer needs it
... but concerned about how transferable it is; anyone help?
il buy yo ticket
all buy all yall ticketz
this is a google translation from the main sites forum
San Miguel Primavera Sound, inexhaustible. On Wednesday 30 May, after completion of free concerts in the space of the Arc de Triomf (with Black Lips, Jeremy Jay, No More Lies, Saint Etienne and The Wedding Present), the party will continue at the Apolo with three names bells: Tennis, Beach Fossils and Chairlift.
Tennis, one of the revelations of last year, present their second album, "Young & Old" (2012), published last February, Beach Fossils, an emblem of the Captured Tracks label, songs will advance its long-awaited second, and finally, Chairlift, one of the names to hold this year on stage show the excellence of "Something" (2012), the album helped them savor the sweetness of a major like Columbia.
On the other hand, the festival organization also confirms the presence in the lineup of Wild Beasts. The British act in the Parc del Forum on Saturday June 2nd.
I like how they've casually tossed Wild Beasts in there.
As usual during the week of the festival, the Apolo will hold a series of showcases hosted by different record labels. The British label Memphis Industries will host another of the showcases happening the days prior the next edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound. On Tuesday 29th of May we will see Hooray For Earth, Elephant and the mancunian band Dutch Uncles, plus the appearance on the decks of the members of one of the label main flagships, The Go! Team. This showcase joins the already announced attendance of other two bands from Memphis Industries in the festival's line up: Field Music and Milagres.
Furthermore, we regret to inform you that A.A. Bondy will not be performing at the festival, since he has cancelled all of his future live dates.
for
porto, suede have been added.
Hope they'll be added to barcelona as well!
or Barca could just take them
I know Porto doesn't have as many bands but...
considering it's 100 euros cheaper, and there's almost as many big names there (with the obvious omission of The Cure), Porto looks like a very good choice for those who made it. In fact, for that lineup I'd say it's probably the best value festival I've ever seen.
Hope Suede are added to Barca, though I doubt they will be since if they were going to be there's no reason not to do it at the same time.
have you seen the OFF Festival lineup last year?
That was £35. Terrific value.
news from the forum
Today we´ll add the rest of the showcases we are doing during the week of the festival, there will be one addition to the line up.
I leave a list of artists confirmed so far for the scenario Adidas Pro Spring
Napszyklat

Ed Wood
Bernhard Fleischmann
Rats On Rafts
Boxeur the Coeur
King of the Opera
Mutiny on the Bounty

One addition seems to be Girls on the Saturday
sketchy translation jajaja
More names are added to the showcases to be held in two rooms of Apollo during the festival week. Stresses the Heart Of Gold showcase, which brings us to James Hunter and a supergroup consisting of members of Bellrays, Jenny Dee and the Delinquents, Diamond Dogs and The Right Ons coating soul classics. The performances of Catalan Famèlic strong seal or Void Ov Voices concerts and Santiago Latorre are other attractions of this week truffled concert.
We must lament the decline in American tennis programming on Wednesday 30 May, which will be replaced by the new funk-pop feel of Kindness, who also will act in a second pass Apollo at the Parc del Forum.
After the second day of concerts at Arc de Triomf, Sunday night will be held on May 30 the classic closing party in the two rooms of Apollo. The confirmed artists are Black Lips and Kings Of Convenience, which will offer a concert of topics not usually play and a DJ session by Erlend Øye as "Kings of Convenience dj's."
Monday May 28
Apollo - Heart Of Gold showcase: James Hunter, Lisa & The Lips
Tuesday May 29
Apollo - Memphis Industries showcase: Dutch Uncles, Elephant, The Go! Team DJ's and Hooray For Earth

All these concerts are free until full payment to holders of San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012.
Kings of Convenience dj's thing should be pretty cool
Where is the Apollo? Is it the indoor building at the festival site? I haven't been since 2009.
Its the venue in the town centre
Its bloody horrible.
not a day goes by
when I don't lament the decline in American tennis programming
Has anybody had their tickets yet?
Ordered them from See. Turned up much earlier last year.
email print out for me
paypal pick up for me
When are we expecting the timetable?
When did it get announced last year?
think last years was late
cos of the football n stuff. id guess in a week or two
There were still bands left to announce at this point
apparently Deerhunter and Moon Duo (and some others, that aren't as big) were both announced on the 15th April 2011. Plus right now on last.fm it says there are 174 acts this year and 202 last year?
Does anyone know the deal with Mangum auditori tickets?
They've made the site even more fucking confusing than ever before, and I can't work out how/when to apply for them!
i think
on the day you'll have to either join a queue in person during the day/morning, apply online for them through the portal thing or rock up in the early evening hoping to get in.
They'll let you know closer to the time.
Anyone know any more about this?
I was expecting it to be like last year with Sufjan, but I can't see anything on the Portal?
I'd be pissed off if I missed it, because I had to sell my ATP tickets, and I'm a big fan.

I have a feeling Bjork's gonna cancel too,
as she's just cancelled her appearance at Sonar Sao Paulo :(
http://bjork.com/#/news/sonarshowcancelled
:(
if Bjork cancels do you think they'll get someone else big in?
I like Bjork, but at this juncture I'd be happy to twist for another artist.
I'm interested to see Bjork but I'd be beyond delighted if they drafted Suede in from Porto to replace her.
I expect to be on my own on that one.
looks like El-P
will replace Ultramagnetic MCs :)
WOAH
That is literally the best thing ever if true.

Was there a Rayban stage last year? I can't remember.
It's only FOUR WEEKS til PrimaBEERa guys! So excited.
its the one
thats like an auditorium, with the steps going down from the main stage, right in the centre of everything. quite a big stage, but probably one of my favs. explosions in the sky played there last year if that helps you..
oh yes!
And Big Boi. And Battles. That's cool. Can't wait for John Talabot / Scuba.
it's the best stage IMO
Criminally under used last year I thought
I think that and the ATP stage are my favourites
the common element between both being somewhere for me to sit down, apparently.
Accordingly, the levar burton stage can right fuck off.
ooooh looks tasty
lots of late-night dancing fun to be had there :D
Those steps are the best for re-grouping and taking some time to nurse sore feet too :P

Does anybody know what the score is with the opening & closing parties this year?
They seem to have moved them again because it says on the website that they're at the Arc De Triomph but no more than that. Is it even a venue? Can't find any information about it the Prima website or anywhere else.
its not a venue
think they are just closing half a road off or something. google maps it. its like a poor paris.
Arc De Triomph is in a big park
Oh right. Cheers
Presumably not as limited capacity as last year then.
Need advice on Primavera...
can anyone tell me how the cashless bar thing works, do you need to register in advance for it ? and how do you get cash on the card. Thanks in advance for any pointers.
They're seriously using it again after what happened last year?
That was what I was wondering.
My question:
If I've got a VIP ticket, can I just skip the cashless bar faffery?
Last year beers were free in the VIP area. Sure I heard they are introducing a charge of some sort this year though, to try and reduce the enormous amount of waste due to people just grabbing a beer and leaving it. You can't take drinks out of that area
when you get yout wristband
they give you a card. you then queue at a little hut to put cash on the card. then use the card at the bar
You can also add money to your card beforehand...
When you get the card you have to link it with the Portal account you created online. Then the money appears. But JFC I hope they're not using it this time.
Thanks M_w_t
do I not need to register on the portal thing on the website then?
best to register on there
as one possible way of getting auditourim tickets
sorry to be really annoying...
but where do I get a Subscriber Card Number from ? The website is next to useless for advice. I've put my ticket number in but it doesn't recognise it. Thanks in advance again.
the portal thing wont be open yet
will be up from last year.. i think.
Don't bother topping much up
because if last year is anything to go by they will probably revert to using cash within the first hour or so of the festival.
How much is the booze and food?
Just so I can work out how much I should be taking. Starting to get excited about it all now.
i cant remember
they free pour spirits though and are very generous. maybe why I cant remember
4 Euro for a beer,
6.50 for spirit and mixer.
Food is shit, I *highly* recommend eating before you get to the festival.
Thanks all
there is one amazing pizza place, but beware, the other pizza places are shit.
You're allowed to take food in, though. I only realised that on the Saturday last year, though.
If you have a gap in your schedule
Then go to the shopping centre opposite. The food court on the top floor has some ok restaurants.
hang on, there's a mcdonalds there?
SORTED.
A McDonalds that sells BEER
how on *earth* did I not find that out last year?
last time i went in 2009
i got food poisoning from one of their hot dogs.
*THREE WEEKS TO GO KLAXON*
I'd be excited
were it not for the fact that I have to spent those three weeks finishing all my Uni essays, finishing planning and doing the last of my teaching, finding a flatmate and applying for a job.
I'm going to be so fucking happy when Primavera happens as it'll mean thats all done... Or that I've just failed at life but by then I'll be in Barcelona with the sun shining so won't care too much.
IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING. it'll be so satisfying when you finish all of that.
I've got a mental few weeks leading up...
work is really busy, then when I get back on the Sunday I have to manage a massively critical software release for a go-live on the Wednesday. Good luck with the studying and job applications, you'll be able to get away from it all for a well deserved break.
Spare bed in apartment
Hello. We've got a spare bed in our apartment. It's really nice - we stayed there last year. Only 25 euros a night (booked Wednesday to Monday, five nights) and 20 minutes walk to the festival site. Let me know if you're interested!

According to someone on the spanish forum they will probably do a lottery for Jeff Mangum as it was last year for Sufjan Stevens.
woahwoahwoahwoah
what's this Big Star thing?
not so super band playing an album called third in full
it's a stunning album
the not so super
was more meant that the members are an indie bedwetters wet dream, rather than huge names like the dirty mac/travelling iwlburys
There's a string orchestra as well I think.
It should be amazing.
Bjork has cancelled.
Not fussed, wasn't intending on staying on for her set, to be honest.
I'm pretty gutted
And no matter how much people say 'it's not a headliner festival', there's only one Primavera-sized headliner on that bill... and I don't particularly care for them.
I doubt they will even get a replacement. Maybe a couple of smaller bands.
Bjork has cancelled
dodgy google translator..
Björk cancels its presence in San Miguel Primavera Sound Primavera Sound and Optimus
After his successful stint in South America, we regret that the actions of Björk planned for Saturday June 2nd in San Miguel Primavera Sound (Barcelona) and Saturday June 9 at Optimus Primavera Sound (Oporto) have been canceled.
After being forced to cancel some dates due to inflammation of a nodule on the vocal cords, the specialist of Björk has recommended to the artist who do not complete rest and continue with your tour, as this could damage his voice permanently .
We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding in this regard.
The organizers wish you a speedy recovery Björk to continue enjoying his talent early.
The organization also understands the importance of Björk at Saturday's program, both in Barcelona and Porto. It was therefore decided to enable the ability to request a refund of the amount of day tickets for June 2 in San Miguel Primavera Sound and June 9 in Optimus Primavera Sound, provided they have been acquired with the purchase date prior to May 10 and have not been used to access the festival.
Soon be informed about the operation for the refund of tickets.
The final composition of the lineup and schedule of performances for both festivals will be announced in the coming days.
Bit shit
Not a huge fan of Bjork (not in a dismissive way, just unfamiliarity), but I was quite looking forward to seeing her live how. Would have been a spectacle.
Hope they get a big late addition, but I bet they won't. Bit disappointing Bjork and GBV pulling out in the same year.
Personally I could be okay with this, depending who comes in.
I was curious about Bjork but not really a fan. They could easily replace her with someone I'd rather see. They might not, obviously.
Bjork, GBV, death grips and ultramagnetic MCs
wouldve seen all of em if I had the chance. fucking shame man, love bjork and her latest tour has been really great, and live she's always awesome. at least shes ill.. the others just seemed to cancel for the laugh
a
Big Bah.
What was at best a half decent line up just been made worse.
it's still a great lineup
it's always a great lineup. There is so much on every year that it can't fail to be great
its all gone a bit ATP
Why
they don't get suede for barcelona escapes me.
exclusivity clause for another spanish fest?
not
one the bill for any other festival. And they are free that weekend.
As a first timer, i'm slightly disappointed with the line up it has to be said.
This is a shame...
not massively bothered about Bjork - would have watched here but Spanish crowds are crap for that sort of thing (anyone who tried to watch PJ Harvey last year will understand!). However, with one of only two proper big headliners cancelled the line up is definetely very thin this year. Would like to see something else coming in this year but I doubt we will. They'll just move Wild Beasts to a big stage,
I know Kraftwerk replaced her at Sónar São Paulo which she cancelled a couple of weeks ago
but I'm not sure that means anything...
You'd hope they will at least try to find a replacement.
The fact that they're offering refunds seems to suggest
that that's 'it' for the line up.
Still loads of brilliant acts and we'll all love it
Yeah I'm clutching at straws
Basically, that festival replaced her in the same time frame, so I'm wondering if Primavera can do the same.
It's still a great line up, but they've lost their big headliner, their big indie draw, and possibly their most 'happening!right!now!' buzz band.
I can never help but wonder what happens with the cash in these situations. Champagne for the team and a cheeky top up on the xmas bonus? ;)
I still think they'll try to replace her.
I just see it as an acknowledgement some people might have bought a day ticket to see her specifically and that, at this notice, they can't guarantee they'll get a replacement people'll be comparatively happy with.
But I suspect they will still try 'cos they've got a reputation to preserve and they've got the spare budget so it's in their interests to make it as good as possible to ensure repeat attendance.
Obviously the danger is the replacement'll be a bit Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for White Stripes...
bjork must be a good chunk of their budget too
Exactly.
Whilst, being honest, I doubt it'll have any impact on my enjoyment of the weekend, it'd still be taking the piss slightly if they lost one of their biggest headliners (and I'm guessing the second most expensive act on the bill) and made no effort to get someone else in. And they've replaced anyone else who's pulled out.
I'd hope the 'final composition' of the line-up bit means they're going to spend the next few days trying to find someone and aim to announce it asap. Hope so, anyway.
To echo Zahidf above, if they were able to get Suede in that'd pretty much make the entire weekend for me.
im guessing most expensive
bkork has an army of a band & choir with her, plus loads of crazy instruments to cart around
im sure theyll try their best, the mustve suspected it a few weeks ago when she cancelled her first few dates
easily gonna be more expensive than The Cure
we will see what they can do.
i think they're being a bit cagey, because it looks even worse if they say they are looking for a replacement, and then fail to get one.
yeah i think realistically there's no way they're not at least trying to get a replacement
I don't know much of Bjork's stuff so I'm less gutted than most about this. Tbh I wouldn't be fussed if there wasn't a big headliner-sized replacement for her, in a sense I'd rather they used the money to add a couple of mid-level bands to the lineup instead.
(i'm talking Porto here
but the same applies for Barca I guess)
for
Porto, they have said that kings of convenience are bjorks replacement.
I think this is a misunderstanding.
What they said was that Bjork was no longer playing and Kings of Convenience now were.
It was all in one tweet so lots of people have misperceived it as a direct replacement but actually it's two separate pieces of news. There's a link to two separate articles and Kings of Convenience were announced the day before Bjork pulling out was announced so I think it just happens to be two pieces of news they've announced at the same time, not a direct swap.
one
Of the organisers on the Primavera forum has said that kings of convenience are bjorks replacement.
OK. So they did.
He/she might be right then.
organisers of this festival have their heads way up their arse
goin on about cache, and bands have to fit the Primavera mould and all this
YOU'VE GOT FRANZ FERDINAND HEADLINING FOR FUCK SAKE!!
christ.
well, that pretty much redefines damp squib.
Still, the overall lineup's really fucking strong so I'm not gonna whine too much.
Hi, portal question
I went to barca last year, still have money on my portal account (didn't fancy queuing for an hour just to get a few euros back). I'll be able to use that money in Porto right? I still have the card, will that work a year on at a different site? Will they even use that system this year?
Esta tarde los horarios :-)
and, sod Bjork, there's now mention of The Walkmen playing...oh yes.
True...
...but there's also mention of St Etienne playing. Boring.
If they persuaded Richard Hawley to do a set at the main site that would ake up for Bjork a little. If they got two (or three!) out of Richard Hawley, Suede and The Walkmen to do it I would say it was an improvement! They won't though I guess.
Anyway, looking forward to the timetable in my usual geekish highlighter pen involved way. Really hope it does come out this afternoon!
aren't St Etienne already playing?
on the Wednesday at Arc de Triomf?
Yes
but I mean playing a set for the main festival as well. It does seem as though that's the best we're going to get at this point.
well
that's rubbish.
first and last time at this festival i think.
To be fair
much as the line up is not as good this year. You really shouldn't write Primavera off until you've been - it is an amazing fest experience and the combination of Barcelona sun and food during the day and mud-free music on awesome stages all night is what you'll remember far more than any particular act!
You say that now
but it really is a lot of fun. Try not to let this ruin it for you.
To be fair to Primavera, they didn't ask any of the bands to drop out, and 3 weeks really is a very short time to secure another Bjork-sized headliner.
In a weak year for festivals, it's still one of the best line-ups on the European calender.
Some of your comments in this thread have been pretty ridiculous
Its 3 weeks before the event, its going to be a pretty hard task to get a massive band to replace Bjork at this point. I doubt the organisers are exactly loving this either.
Ah
i know i'm probably being unfair.
I think i was expecting a much better line up compared to previous years, so it's typical the first year i persuade a group of people to come on presale prior to line announcement, the line up is not as good.
Also, whilst i'm not expecting a Bjork size band as replacement, i would expect more than 'we tried for a day and couldn't find anyone'. Even a medium sized replacement would be better than just moving along st etienne.
Anyway, will go with an open mind.
I think everyone needs to chill out about Bjork not playing.
Like littlebirds says, they're not _really_ going to find another similar-sized band / act to play at such short notice now.
I can't understand why people get their knickers in a massive twist about ONE ACT not playing (yeah, I know Death Grips and Ultramagnetic MCs), but c'mon, if you've been before you KNOW that there will be loads to see.
TBH
She is the highest profile band on the line up, and was in the initial announcement. I imagine weekend ticket people would have bought a ticket with watching her mind.
For them to say 'never mind there are 199 other acts' is a little disengenous.
Ultramagnetic MCs have been replaced by ELP haven't they?
Death Grips is just some small act.
The Cure are bigger than her, surely
I think the line up is strong
Theres loads of bands I want to see, better than last time I went a few years back. I also wanted to see Bjork as well but its not the Festivals fault shes pulled out at such short notice..shit happens.

Lets be honest, if it was an ATP line up everyone would be messing themselves about it.
Difference is, tickets are cheaper, and it's in Barcelona not Minehead.
Role on May 30.
Timetable is up...
...and I was just about to start doing some work!
http://sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/horarios?d=17&l=forum&lang=en
Sorry
just Thursday on there so far. Already a Mudhoney v Death Cab for Cutie v White Denim v Mazzy Star clash!
what the fuck?!?
i really want to see the first 3 of those ... horrible horrible result
Is the Mini Stage the Llevant Stage from last year?
Yes
Ugh... horrible for clashes so far.
:(
can't
seem to read that.
The worst of them
EL-P & Ice Age
The Afghan Whigs & Grimes
White Denim & Mazzy Star & Mudhoney
Wilco & Beirut
Danny Brown & Refused & Sleep
A$AP Rocky & Franz
Spiritualized & Wolves in the Throne Room
The Field & John Talabot & Japandroids
It was definitely more spread out last year... I got to see at least some of almost everything I wanted to.
The Field and John Talabot clash is a bit stupid
wilco and beirut clashing
LAME :(
i think I'll have to take Wilco
but Beirut in the Spanish sun would have been top
The Field clashed with Orbital in 2010
Man that was annoying.
Orbital on the Ray Ban stage was pretty huge though
Oh yes!
I met a Spanish woman who gave me a "special drink"
Someone make a spreadsheet, stat!
If you go on the Friday page and keep refreshing
the bands seem to appear one by one. Strange way to release a timetable! Other Lives on San Miguel Stage is a bit naff. The Cure are on at 22:10 and next band not on till 2:00 so probably a long set!
the link is now saying "Acceso no permitido o temporalmente restringido"
guess we weren't meant to see it this early!!
I can't get back on the Thursday page now
When I click that link up there^ I just get this "Acceso no permitido o temporalmente restringido"
Acceso no permitido for me now.
oh... what ^ they said.
I was hoping FNM
would replace Bjork, or may be ATDI.
meanwhile, back in reality
will the Mini stage not be loads more popular than the san mig on thursday?
San mig:
Baxter Dury (nope, me neither)
Franz Ferdinand,
Yo La Tengo,
Afghan Whigs
Mini (Llevant):
XX
Spiritualized
Death Cab
Beirut
seems weird that
Baxter Dury is Ian Dury's son
yeah I saw that, but I've never heard of his music
sorry Wilco not YLT
Erm, the Llevant stage is fucking massive
The Walkmen confirmed :-)
where?
Tweet from Gabi Ruiz
Do we know the stage yet?
If that's the fourth band for the San Miguel Stage on the Saturday in lieu of Bjork then it's even more depressing than Kings of Convenience replacing in Portugal...
Could well be San Miguel, I heard 22:00 on Saturday -
That would clash with Beach House, f*uk
Walkmen will be on a big stage I reckon
they packed out the Pitchfork stage last year, so anything less than one of the two big ones would be a bit of a step sideways.
When I try and look a the times it says
Access is not allowed or temporarily restricted? Does anyone else get this. Clashes seem horrendous from what you're all saying though.
Someone on the primavera sound forum
made this:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AqradBt3NdpVdDMwRFlLWEdPMFVKYmVraHhDaFA1M2c&toomany=true#gid=0
John Talabot vs The Field vs Japandroids
#worstclashever
Apart from that horrendous clash,
Thursday's a bit sparse for me. Any recommendations?
Actually, I lie!
El-P > Grimes > Death Cab > Wilco > Franz / The xx / beer break > HORRENDOUS CLASH > Rustie
b-b-b-b-but ...
ARCHERS OF LOAF
Kings of Convenience are on the main stage
Wut?
Looks like there's only one The Walkmen sized gap too. Sorry to people who aren't fans, and feel conned out of a headliner.
NOOOOOOOOO
Yo La Tengo & The Weeknd clash.
There is no god.
where are you getting this info on the timetable?
sorry just saw the spreadsheet above
Yo La Tengo and Wild Beasts clash
is by far the worst for me. Yo La Tengo are one of my favourite live bands, and I've managed to miss Wild Beasts on their Smother tour so still really need to see them. Dunno what I'm going to do!
Stuff got changed around so much last year in the week before and even on the days,
I wouldn't get too worked up about clashes yet.
so where is the Vice Stage?
was that there last year?
I think...
it's the one that Kurt Vile was on last year. Tucked right next to the sea behind the ATP stage.
The Cure before the Rapture? Surely not?
Hope not anyway. That clash with Big Star's Third would be a real bugger.
the third slot on San Mig is the headliner slot
i guess some people have gone by the time the last one comes on
the headline-y type bands are always on at that sort of time though,
and then other stuff afterwards. same last year, iirc.
Weren't B & S before Pulp?
But thinking about it you're otherwise right.
Btw I'm sure this question is on everyone's lips.
What day and where are the Olivia Tremor Control playing? Couldn't see 'em on the timetable thing...
I reckon that timetable could be bollocks
They only put up the Friday anyway...
They're playing the auditorium in Porto, maybe it's the same deal in Barcelona.
21:45 on Vice stage
The unofficial timetable is missing a few things.
On Saturday
Splendid.
That works for me.
so
Walkmen replacing Bjork?
would make a good replacement for Death Grips for Barca. For Bjork though? Nahh...
be happy if I manage to see these
Thursday

The official timetable is up now
http://www.sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/horarios?d=1&l=forum
St Etienne are the replacement for Bjork on Saturday night.
The Walkmen replace St Et on the Wednesday at Arc De Triomf
That's worked out pretty well for me
Didn't want to see St Etiene, now I get to see The Walkmen clash free on Wednesday. When St Etiene are playing, Chromatics and Shellac are on, so not exactly short of options.
Some really shitty scheduling in there
Death Cab vs Mazzy Star, John Talabot vs The Field, Beach House vs Real Estate, James Ferraro/Demdike Stare/Forest Swords all before the sun goes down
John Talabit vs the Field and Beach House v Real Estate makes so little sense
I imagine fans of one are likely to be fans of the other. Why do schedulers of festivals let this happen?
Particularly the JT and the Field clash. The most excitable house/techno/minimal on the whole line up. In fact the only ones to my recollection.
Try Rebolledo
Excelent stuff, also on Kompakt. Playing on friday at 4am.
Forgot to mention Pional
Closing saturday night. Another Spanish act, much in the vein of John Talabot (in fact he sings in one of Talabot's best songs: Destiny)
Not worked well for me as The Wa
bit
lame.
Sure they could've done better, but at least they'll get more profit this year ( cynical hat on)
yeah cos they definitely planned to have their big draw cancel on them 3 weeks out
Those swines
Someone put an E in Zahidf's pint when they get there or something
Please.
Yeah this E's alright and everything
But it's hardly an adequate replacement for meow meow. With my cynical hat on I think they're holding back the bigger chemicals for more profit
You really are a little ray of sunshine aren't you
You chose to book tickets to a festival before the line up was announced and now somebody who you didn't know was playing when you bought a ticket has cancelled at short notice on medical advice. You are going to a brilliant festival with loads of great music, next to the sea in a fantastic city. Stop moaning.
Relax mate
Primavera is great.
The bands are great.
The crowds are great.
Barcelona is great.
The weather is great.
The food is great. (This isn't actually true, but the food in *Barcelona* is great)
IT WILL BE ALRIGHT. Trust me.
The Walkmen are one of my favourite bands but I'm only doing the
Saturday. However staying at my Dad's in southern Catalunya the week before,so I do have the option of getting the train up for Wednesday.I take it these free concerts are free to anyone and not just full festival ticket holders ??
I think you'd need a ticket I'm afraid...
yeah
Free to all.
Does anyone know...
roughly what time St Etienne were due to play on the Wednesday? Or what time The Walkmen will be on?
9.20
:D
At least it makes me much less worried about making sure I get in on the Wednesday now, and I get to see a longer St Etienne set, which is obviously great.
Do want to see the Wedding Present though so might still try and make it along.
And it'll be interesting to see if the time I saw the Walkmen live was actually a one-off.
On at 9:20pm, after the Wedding Present and before Black Lips
that's made the Wednesday really really good hasn't it
Good stuff
Thank you both...
this pleases me greatly.
You had to get to the fort place really early on Wednesday last year
to get in before it reached capacity. I wish somebody would give some proper information about the deal with the opening and closing parties venue this year...Arc De Triomf just seems to be a big square in the middle of the street so no idea how its going to work.
I missed out last year due to lame companions...
who wanted to get food beforehand. Yeah, cheers.
There's a bit of space at Arc De Triomf, but I think it'll be pretty tight. Fingers crossed.
hmm, I'm thinking
Thursday:
Archers Of Loaf
The Afghan Whigs/Grimes
Death Cab
Wilco
Beirut
Danny Brown/The XX
ASAP Rocky
Spiritualized
Japandroids
Friday:
Laura Marling
Jeff Mangum
Girls
The War On Drugs
The Cure
Wavves
M83
The Men
Saturday:
Veronica Falls (or Mangum if we can't see him on Friday)
Kings Of Convenience/Atlas Sound/Forest Swords
Olivia Tremor Control/Beach House
Real Estate
Saint Etienne/Shellac
Yo La Tengo
Something dance-y
Standing back from everything, that looks like a fucking great list. Only really annoyed by War On Drugs vs. The Cure and Death Cab vs. White Denim, the rest works out quite smoothly
I've got War on Drugs vs the Cure vs Big Star's Third.
It's a fucker.
I'm not even gonna listen to Big Star
Don't want to discover any more bands that I really want to but can't see.
For example I just started listening to Olivia Tremor Control today, without even realising they were playing, and now they clash with Real Estate ... stupid festival ...
also I'm thinking I could fit in the first 15 minutes of WoD
and still head over in time to be in a half-decent position for The Cure. Or maybe not, since they're easily the biggest band playing to my mind
I've actually not listened to more than a handful of War on Drugs songs for similar reasons.
The ones I heard sounded amazing but I need to discount them to make a decision!
I think I'm going to take the hit on the Cure and just catch what I can after Big Star finish (maybe leave ten mins before the end but no more than that).
As amazing though I'm sure the Cure will be, my general experience last year was that I enjoyed things on smaller stages more than things on the bigger stage purely 'cos of the ease of getting a better position and feeling a bit closer to it all. I'll catch the end of them though.
I mean, I know this and T In The Park are *quite* different festivals
But that was my experience at TITP too - saw like 20 minutes of bands on the main stage, then decided it wasn't worth it and just camped in the smaller tents.
I'm feeling kinda annoyed about War on Drugs though, since they came to Glasgow at the start of the year and I decided I couldn't be bothered seeing them. Regretted it straight away, felt better when I saw they were playing PV and now I'm gonna miss them ... again!
Also, I'd really recommend seeing White Denim if you can (they're on at the same time as Mazzy Star, saw you weren't sure about going to them). They are so good live, their albums can't match it. That aside, guess I'll see you in the crowd for Archer of Loaf. STUCK A PIN IN YOUR BACKBONE!
Band Schedules
Here you can find an all-in-one A4 friendly spreadsheet ready for you to colour with your most looking-forward-to bands:
XLS: http://bit.ly/IYodjK
ODS: http://bit.ly/JqscSg
GDOCS: http://bit.ly/Ktu4fK
Adidas stage is missing the bands as the times have not been announced yet.
I love you <3
Think this is my plan:
Thursday:
Archers of Loaf
Field Music
(maybe) Mazzy Star
Wilco
Tag along with whatever friends are watching as there's nowt I'm too arsed about.
Franz Ferdinand
The Field
Friday
Maybe get there early and watch bands I've never heard on the Vice stage (that's the one that was the Jagermeister stage isn't it? I quite enjoyed doing that last year)
Marianne Faithful
Something else if time
Big Star's Third
Some of the Cure
Some of the Dirty Three
Tag along to whatever friends are seeing as there's nothing I'm that arsed about.
The Rapture.
Maybe stick around, maybe early night.
Saturday
Michael Gira
Maybe tag along with friends to see stuff
The Olivia Tremor Control
St Etienne
Wild Beasts
Maybe the Pop Group.
Looking at it like that, it's a really nice line-up. Not too many major clashes (or at least clashes where I can't make a decision. The Big Star/Cure/Dirty Three crossover is the one time I really get caught out) and not too many times when there's not much I want to see.
Plan of action:
Wednesday: The Walkmen
Thursday: Iceage, Grimes, Beirut, Refused/Danny Brown/The XX, John Talabot!!!, Erol Alkan (If i can push myself)
Friday: Dirty Beaches, The Cure, (Sleigh Bells), M83, SBTRKT/The Men
Saturday: Beach House, Chromatics, The Weeknd, Washed Out, Scuba
BOOM
What?! Bjork has cancelled??...
So i get to see Beach House AMD Chromatics instead. Plus Wedding Present, The Walkmen, Black Lips, Purity Ring, Friends, Iceage, Grimes, Mazzy Star, Thee Oh Sees, REFUSED(!), Japandroids, John Talabot, Jeff Mangum, Girls, The War on Drugs, Sleigh Bells, M83, The Men, Obits, Sharon Van Etten, Veronica Falls, Atlas Sound, Yo La Tengo, Justice... All you haters need to fuck off to Benicassim & while you're there tell ATDI what they are missing.
i just have no idea how to handle Friday's clashes...
...just goin to get ridiculously drunk and go with the flow!
this thread is going to become ridiculous soon,
so I've started a new one on the Social board for non-musical discussions:
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4346310
Confirmed artists for adidas Originals Stage:
Austria: Bernhard Fleischmann, GinGa
Belgium: Absynthe Minded
Canada: Cadence Weapon, Foam Lake, Jenn Grant, Reignwolf
Chile: Astro, The Ganjas
Italy: Boxeur The Coeur, King Of The Opera
Luxemburg: Inborn!, Mutiny On The Bounty
The Netherlands: Rats On Rafts
Poland: Ed Wood, Kristen, Napszyklat
Russia: Trud
Sonicbids: The Experimental Tropic Blues Band, Hot Panda, Lovely Bad Things
South Africa: Abdus, Spoek Mathambo
The clashfinder is up
makes easier reading than the one on the site I think:
http://clashfinder.com/s/ps2012/
thanks for that
one these spreadsheets seem to be missing is Big Star's Third, starts same time as War on Drugs, Melvins etc on the Friday
yah
it says don't print yet, so it'll probably be corrected closer to the time.
Press conference at 12 apparently.
11am our time? Hopefully we'll get info about the Portal / Auditori events.
Cash bars!
http://sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/comunicadoSingle?id=196
Reservations on the day for Mangum, all other Auditori gigs are a free-for-all.
very pleased about cash bars.
MAP
http://sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/psb/download/prensa/material/Plano_PS12.jpg
hang about
this is all a bit different isn't it? Pitchfork and vice stages both squeezed onto that little lower waterfront bit..
hmmm
yeah, here's what it looked like last year:
http://i53.tinypic.com/2psktj6.jpg
also,
it means you can't sit on the steps near Vice / ATP to watch bands :/
Yeah - they've moved the Adidas Originals stage to where the Vice(or Jagermeister stage was last year.
Shame as that's a good spot. Surely that means Pitchfork and Vice must not clash ever or there wouldn't be space. Would there?
Looks like they've cleared out the space to the left of the steps as you go down there?
Still, bit concerned about the sound from the two stages being properly separated: they're running concurrently for most of the festival!
Also, on the previous year's one I was convinced that the Llevant stage was further east..
there is quite a difference in height between where vice and p4k are
which should help stop the sound bleeding across too much. Shame there is nothing where vice was last year, that was a good spot.
And yeah I think the map is truncated on the right to make it work better as a layout
That makes sense!
I think I preferred it when that stage was smaller, really. Not sure why; just less of a walk over there. I'd be pleased if they went back to the old layout, but seems unlikely unless they've cut capacity or something.
They might have done.
See the link in original post of this whole thread:
http://www.primaverasound.com/foros/viewtopic.php?t=7440
Ticket prices do seem to have gone up so maybe capacity has gone down. Anyone know?
probably
more a case of bad ticket sales...
they announced before the festival they were reducing capacity
Hey where are have all the wifi points gone?
That trusty old reliable working wifi.
where are have all
Buy a Spanish sim on eBay. I did. Vodafone works well in Barcelona.
Re. the Clashfinder timetable
It's the only one that has ending times of bands on it, which is really useful if it's accurate - but does anyone know if they are? Where did this info come from? Or are they just guessing?
No, they guess.
But I use these for all festivals I go to and they're always pretty close.
getting excited about going to this
maybe too excited, put this together to show who's on where and when. Not quite finished but may be handy if you are going, click anything to filter to that selection
http://bit.ly/JqM788
this is a swanky thing indeed
heh,
this is really cool
make that a phone app!
i'd buy it
hehe
the thought had crossed my mind, believe me ;)
that is some bas-ass line-up on the ATP stage Sunday night...
2030 Forest Swords
2145 Demdike Stare
2300 Shellac
0030 Godflesh
The only major clash I can find is Codeine & M83...sorry M83 you lose.
first time attendee.
whats the deal with collecting wristbands etc?
depends
can call at some place before the festival starts, think its usually the apollo where the pre festival gigs are held. Or I imagine there maybe somewhere at the arc del triumph.
Main place is the entrance to the festival site during the festival.
Seperated stands for each retailer, hand over your ticket or reference number thing, show your ID, get your wristband, get given map & stage times booklet. Sure if you go to the main site under the FAQs there'll be clearer answers
pretty much this.
Last year you could exchange your tickets / receipt (if PayPal) for a wristband at the Apolo from Tuesday, which I did. Then at the Poble Espanyol on Wednesday (where they had the open air gigs), and on Thursday at the Forum. It's pretty straight forward, although I never saw queues for PayPal tickets, but there were queues in you had physical tickets to exchange.
I had physical ticket and didn't queue.
But that was probably because I exchanged it on the Thursday morning after getting to Poble too late on Weds :( but that was because I saw a secret Interpol gig at the Apolo :D
On the Tuesday night at the Apolo there was a MASSIVE queue.
We actually thought "oh fuck this" but then a stewardy person directed us to the PayPal desk where there was no queue. Then on Thursday the queues to get wristbands (about 5pm? can't really remember) with tickets were massive. So I highly recommend picking them up before Thursday, if you can.
Or go during the day on Thursday
which is usually quiet.
we get there on tuesday
and want to head to the memphis industries showcase, so i guess we'll just head there and see how it goes? One of us has a ticket and the other box office collection so hopefully we can sort it. Thanks for all your answers, much appreciated :)
Free parties around the festival
Found a nice list of parties happening in town during Primavera Sound here:
http://cityblink.com/blog/primavera-sound-2012/
Helps people like me who don't have the 190€ for the 3 day pass... or the days off to attend them all!
Do you get sent physical tickets?
I bought mine through the website and got a confirmation e-mail, but it doesn't have any reference number on it or anything, and I haven't been sent actual physical tickets yet.
At what point do I panic?
email them
address is on the main site and on the official forum. its happened to a few people with them not recieving an email or something
Bought mine with accommodation.
I wonder if that makes a difference? E-mailed them anyway. Cheers.
As an aside, anyone else staying at Hotel Attica 21?
Similar worries here:
I paid through paypal, and though I got a confirmation email of the transaction going through, I didn't get anything more official looking. HMM
your PayPal receipt is the ticket!!
You don't get sent physical tickets.
You bring your confirmation email and your card and they'll give you the tickets.
I checked this a few weeks ago.
Thanks.
One less thing to worry about.
you only don't get physical tickets with Paypal
all other options (Seetickets etc) are physical tickets
Ticket collection deets
http://sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/recogidaEntradas?lang=en
Definitely going to pickpocketed by the time I get there.
I assume normal PayPal tickets (not Hotels / Primavera Pro)
will also have an exchange point OR SUTIN?
Yeah looks like paypal collection comes under this.
I WILL BE LANDING THIS TIME NEXT WEEK.
ME TOO.
You're not on the 1115 BA from Heathrow, are you?
I'm on the 11.15 BA from Heathrow which is kind of freaky
Since I'm also staying in the same building as you...
WOAH. I'll have to spot you, and then follow you to the apartment like some kind of creep.
No.
From Bristol like a total loser this time. You might have a few bands on your flight (last year on my BA flight from LHR I had PiL and Grinderman) so look out!
Beth Gibbons was on my Easyjet flight from Bristol when Portishead headlined a few years ago, so not all bad. Only likely to see members of the Pop Group this year though I guess
this may be the worst/best
holiday plan ever - three days at atp ally pally then straight on the plane to barcelona, week there, then straight to porto for the sister festival. this will either be the best or most destructive couple of weeks of a lifetime. or both. im very excited.
great username
also, you're crazy
i know i am getting old and enfeebled...
but i couldn't see myself making it thru that without requiring hospitalisation after...hats off.
you're gonna be broke...
in all senses of the word.
Sounds like the best holiday ever
literally!
Probably stupid questions...ticket pick up and Arc De Triomf
Sorry if I'm being thick but things seem to have changed a bit since last year which is the only time I've been. According to the email today the only place to pick up tickets other than the forum is Palau de la Virreina. Is this a venue? Is anything else going on there?
Secondly the only thing I can see on the website about the opening and closing parties is this "At the point where Paseo Sant Joan and Paseo Lluís Companys meet, the Arc de Triomf offers an open space in the historical heart of Barcelona that will allow all the people of Barcelona to enjoy live music." Does this mean that unlike last year's limited capacity thing they are just putting on big free concerts in the middle of the road for anybody who wants to come?
Can't find anything on their facebook or the English Forum which really explains this.
Thoughts?
This link:
http://sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/programacion
Tells you what's happening on each of the days.
It appears you pick up tickets either at the Palau de la Virreina or at the Forum from the Thursday. I don't think you *have* to have your wristband to get into any of the opening parties, if you don't have it you just show your ticket.
Hope that helps?
*Palau de la Virreina from Monday, obvs.
Thanks
Seems a bit annoying to have to go to two different places, we just picked our wristbands up at the opening party last year.
Reason I'm asking about the shows at Arc De Triomf is, like a lot of people I imagine, we're flying in on Wednesday and if they're limited capacity like last year we'll rush to get there. If they're free for all's then we'll just get there when we get there. Was last year an exception in having such limited capacity (we didn't get in to the opening party) ?
Well, I think the Arc de Triomf shows are free for alls, unlike last year, as it was a venue rather than a green open space.
Not entirely sure how that'll effect capacity TBH but as I'm not bothered about going I'm not gonna worry. I guess if you don't have time to pick your wristbands up before Thursday it doesn't really matter, you *might* have to queue a bit at the Forum but really, it doesn't matter too much does it?
Also, the Palau de la Virreina is quite near the Apolo.
So I guess it's handy for the opening shows there.
Thanks
No it wouldn't be the end of the world not to get wristbands before Thursday and good news if we don't have to get to Arc De Triomf early on Wednesday. So yeah, its all good. Excited!
the plastic one knows
Palau de la Virreina. Is this a venue? Is anything else going on there?
and no, its not a venue, nothing goes on there other than ticket exchange
VIP does not include beer
Got an answer from them
--------
THE VIP INVITATION / FULL FESTIVAL TICKET INCLUDES:
Access to the VIP area of the San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 festival, with privileged views of the main stage and discounts at the bars in this area (but beer will not be free)
Access to the area with privileged views of MINI stage (limited capacity).
Access to the NightPro area, exclusive for professionals, press and artists, located inside the San Miguel Primavera Sound 2012 festival site, with all types of facilities (bathing area, special discounts at the bar, restaurant, press set…) and participation in the activities that will take place there.
Speedy access to concerts held in the Auditori (indoor venue with limited capacity), except in the concerts of Jeff Mangum.
This all sounds a bit rubbish
I spent the extra 50-60 euros (forget how much) for the beer. Obviously.
To be honest I'm pretty sure the discounts on food and drinks will save me the 50/60 Euros pretty easily over the course of three days.
Well, maybe not 50 or 60 Euros
but enough to make it worthwhile.
In practice I'd have otherwise hung around and waited until all my friends confirmed they were going before buying tickets and paid pretty much the same as I paid for the VIP ticket in any case...
I guess it depends on the discounts
Aren't the 'privileged views of the main stage' the little green bit right at the very back?
Last year the discount was like a euro a drink
You must put it away.
TBH the best thing about VIP was the free beer and toilets. Rarely bothered actually watching bands from it. View was good, but it was atmosphereless
I do feel they are taking the mick with the VIP tickets now
The privileges have slowly been eroded. They should either ditch the idea or ramp the price up and really give people the VIP treatment.
By not informing people what the VIP ticket gives you access to until a few weeks before the festival (bearing in mind that you had to have bought the tickets around 9 months ago) and reducing these privileges all they are doing is pissing off their true supporters.
El-P just cancelled :((((((((((

shit :(
HEADS UP
If you wanna go to the Apolo concert on the Wednesday (Chairlift, Beach Fossils, Kindness), then apparently you should reserve a ticket:
http://www.sanmiguelprimaverasound.es/formConciertosApolo?lang=en
ID NR.
Is this passport number or ticket number?
I assume passport.
I guess it's just the number of something official so they can prove it's you?
I have never tried to watch music
with so many people chatting around me. I seriously doubt most people there have heard of any of the people playing so make up for it by getting pissed and chatting loudly as if they're at Reading. Caribou in 2010 were almost unwatchable as a massive crowd had turned up to just chat.
Field Day, I take it?
Not Primavera?
The Catalans can be pretty chatty
And they love a good abrupt push
Watching Low last year whilst being able to hear people pissing in the bushes to my left
was a bit of a low point.
I never really noticed these issues
But there's always a few people banging on about how rude the Catalans were in the post-festival threads. Maybe I've been lucky.
I wouldn't say rude
But their culture of enjoying themselves I found came into conflict with mine a lot
My post was very much intended for Field Day
However, the Spanish are really bad as well. Had to give up on stuff like PJ Harvey as you could barely hear her. Only heard Low due to telling about three people to shut up. Just pick what you see wisely - I suspect Mazzy Star will be unwatchable.
The thing I associate with Spanish crowd is mildly fit 30-35 year old woman in Barcelona shirt or skimpy top with fag hanging out of mouth and beer, with back to stage, both hands pointing in the air, shouting at her group of male friends about how much fun they're having.
I didn't notice this really, at all, last year.
In fact, the rudest people I encountered were BRITS ABROAD. There were a couple of very drunk lads who kept shoving my back while I was watching DJ Shadow last year. One of them pushed all the way to the front and then asked me to move so he could be on the barrier. There was literally NO ROOM, so I said, err, look, I'm pretty squashed myself so he literally just started pushing me. Nice.
Pixies a few years ago was awful
We were sat up on the hill which was absolutely fine, but we left to go see Yeasayer. Weaving through the crowd, barely anyone was watching the band (opting for the back to stage, smoking stance popular in Barcelona) chatting, and pushing you as you apologetically walked past.
I've never really noticed the Brits Abroad at Primavera. The Irish however make a good old scene of ourselves. Last year me and my missus had our heads hung in *We're an embarrassment in other countries aren't we* shame a lot
St Etienne have cancelled their London gig tonight as Sarah has laryngitis
So there may be another cancellation on the cards
So many cancellations!
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Having to put up with the Walkmen (or nothing) instead of St Etienne on the Wednesday was a blow but more than made up for by the longer St Etienne set on the Saturday.
Having to put up with the Walkmen (or nothing) instead of St Etienne on the Wednesday and the no St Etienne at all would be awful.
Hopefully if this happens they'll either move the Walkmen to the Saturday when loads of other things are on or move the Wedding Present to the Saturday so I can just miss the Arc de Triomf without missing much.
They can leave the Walkmen exactly where they are thanks.
If they take St Etienne's slot they will be clashing with Chromatics and SVE. NO THANKS.
This. Although I'm afraid SVE is going to be subjected
to the chatathon that made it almost impossible to listen to The Tallest Man On Earth last year in the same slot. Wish she was on a smaller stage.
I don't really mind about St Ettiene...
but these cancellations are starting to rack up a bit.
They should definitely move Danny Brown into El-Ps slot
so he doesn't clash with Refused / The XX. Surely that makes sense if the logistics work?
I'm having a bit of a panic.
I got the early VIP ticket thing but just realised I was supposed to register me and the guy coming with me's details for the VIP bit by last Friday.
I'll do it later but what do you think the worst case scenario is here? Presumably they'd just not let us in the VIP bit rather than completely not letting us into the festival?
I doubt very much they won't let you into the entire festival.
Don't panic! Just send them an email and look on the forum to see if anyone else is in the same situation.
My mate managed to forget his ticket last year
and much to our amazement they let him in after he produced his passport. Can't imagine that ever happening at a festival in the UK. Think it probably helped that he went down to the place where the ticket exchange was at the opening party rather than leaving it until they were really busy at the Forum.
The ticket place at the Poble Espanyol was where we got out VIP passes when they weren't given to us at the Apolo
I'd say it's a good place to get problems sorted
explosions in the sky have pulled out fwiw
Where is the Nightpro area?
