Any spares going for this perchance? Donors will be rewarded with beer and grab bags of Revels.
If you find two, count me in please.
i did post it on our twitter but it's such a small show, it didn't warrant a London-centric news story/glorified gig listing. sorry.
going to this, can't wait. First time I'll see them and it's in walking distance. They're playing Burst Apart in full. Hoping for an encore with some Hospice. Probably can't make the November tour so this should make up for it. Odd choice of venue. Bit odd to come over for a one off somewhere so small.
Got a ticket but, unfortunately, not expecting any Hospice tracks as it was billed solely as a run through of Burst Apart.
(and they're not just over for this - European festivals and it's immediately before Leeds/Reading)
You will get beer AND baked goods from me. PM xx
I'll give you beer, baked goods AND probably show you my boobs a bit.
will welcome any showing of boobs as payment
Yes, I really want it but it's a Wednesday and I don't know who else is going to keep me company so maybe meowington is the best bet - although you'll not get boobs.
He registered on DiS just to take you up on your offer
Two weeks !
Not that familiar with them but my sister has a spare so going to go along.
on the hospice tour they were amazing, but was underwhelmed at Green Man, probably because of the larger venue. I wonder why the show is so late though...
the new stuff doesn't seem to work as well live, and neither does the 'beefing up' of older songs (not sure why they need to do it on kettering or wake especially)
It almost sounded like he was taking the piss, dragging out every syllable.
it's either them or Deftones for me on Friday. I've seen Deftones 7 times, so i should probably see The Antlers, but i don't want to be stood there bored (I love Burst Apart, but still find Hospice rather heavy going in places)
but Burst Apart is beautiful. i guess if i get bored or i can't hear them because deftones are too loud, i can always leave
Dom Gourlay has seen them a few times more than me and he reckoned Summer Sundae the other week was by far the best he's even seen them.
even though Peter's guitar amp broke during the first song.
Anybody enter The Fly comp to see them Thurs afternoon ? Heard owt ?
I was bang at the front, and it felt like turning up at the school Battle of the Bands and one of the best indie bands in the world at the moment turning up. I was really disappointed a few days back at Green Man, thought they were fantastic at The Bodega on the Hospice tour, but this really was a cut above. Best gig I've seen in months.
and, thanks to the technical hitch, we got an extra, impromptu Hospice track.
i got goosebumps and was near-tearful for Corsicana.
wow, just wow.
review and In Photos to follow (hopefully by the end of today)
but DiS 'tog Burak has some proper shots to follow.
He has a great voice, eh? Bit miffed they told everyone to stand up - sort of defeated the point, but yeah good gig.
The Antlers' music is so passionate that needs to be seen in a small, intimate setting so last night was perfect for them. I saw them last year on the main stage at EOTR and thought their sound sort of disappears when they play outside, but at a small venue like last night they are exceptional and very much goosebump-inducing. I was far enough back to be able to stay sitting in the plush comfy seats the whole time, which was a bonus.
