do people hate friendly fires?
I never took much notice of them apart from Jump In The Pool which was the ultimate first year at Uni song.
I heard my mate playing their new record the other day and I think it sounds very good.
Tell me about their rep in indie circles, before I go blundering my way out of some cool girl's bed.

Apparently judging from the glastonbury threads.
A few people being a bit snobbish about them.
Personally I quite like them, fairly interesting for a band flirting with the charts.
i really love them.*
'paris' is my most played song on last.fm and 'Hawaiian Air' off the new album is fast catching it up.
they're a british band we can be proud of and i don't think they intend to make music for snobby sorts. it's crowd-pleasing rhythms from an insanely good drummer and a coupla dudes who moved from shoegaze and techno and punk-funk and are finding their own feet.
* = i said they were this decades answer to Blur, which probably explains some of the hate ;-)
`i don't think they intend to make music for snobby sorts`
I don't have an opinion on Friendly Fires, as I'm not sure I've ever listened to them, but that comment is surely a cop-out that could apply to any shit band?
I dunno...
...I thought Blur were OK.
They're nice in small doses.
Paris is an absolutely beautiful song, but by and large their first album was pretty forgettable. Anyway, like what you're gonna like. If you're worried about getting kicked out of bed because of your music tastes, then stop sleeping with writers for Pitchfork.
I've put them in the "pretty good" category
and feel kinda weird I've got their new album so highly ranked on my unofficial, as yet not-written-in-stone, year-end list.
Uhm, so yeah, they're pretty good.
i like them a lot
it seems their glastonbury show has prompted a lot of chat about them but the fact is that apart from anything else they are a fantastic festival band.
Paris is a decent tune, can't say anything else of theirs has made much of an impression on me
they're not helped by the fact they look like the sort of lads you'd expect to see quaffing Pimm's at a Young Tories conference though.
the singer had his shirt tucked into his chinos on Jools holland
it really didn't help.
Whenever I hear some insipid, indie dance thing on the radio
it's them. I can't summon up the effort to hate them, but I sure don't like them.
I think 'loathe' is a better word
after seeing them on Jools Holland the other week.
But then I despise Everything Everything too and they seem to be quite popular on here. I think I'm just too much of a curmudgeonly git to listen to anything that sounds like people enjoying themselves.
Everything Everything are well boring
I really don't see what the fuss is about
I really like them
They`re a very likeable band, and Pala is a bloody good album.
I've never liked them enough to buy any of their stuff
but I've enjoyed pretty much everything of theirs I've heard, particularly Skeleton Boy.
You know what?
I'll give them a whirl today and maybe I will buy their records.
but skeleton boy sounds so much like
you're not alone by olive. or maybe that's just me

They are brilliant.
I don't have much else to say on the matter.
Their more shoegazey songs are great
so basically just Jump in the Pool and Paris.
But yeah, Jump in the Pool is one of the best singles of the last decade I'd say. Not too fussed about the new album.
Spot on
The white-boys-experimenting-with-worldbeat-rhythms stuff they normally peddle is pretty bad, but you can't totally write off any band that writes a song as good as 'Paris'
they're shit.
I really dislike them
but then again I'm not at uni, and I'd probably have liked them in my first year of uni.
I like Jump In The Pool
but nothing else has grabbed me.
Don't like them
Some decent songs, saw them live and really didn't enjoy it. Don't like the frontmans voice or melodies (or plagarism for that matter)
Pull me back to earth off their new album is ace
The euphoric trance rush thing during the chorus is lovely, probably my favourite track of the year so far.
