How we doing with with the story? It's all a bit elusive obviously but I gather....
David works in lightbulb factory in shit northern UK town circa 1980.
David meets leftwing firebrand Veronica and falls in love.
She dies from a bomb they were making or something.
I think David meets someone else?
Something about the narrator (Octavio) being complicit in the whole thing.
David learns to love again.
Can anyone flesh that out a bit?
Probably doesn't really matter of course. Just nice to know.

I don't even want to think about the story myself, sounds cringeworthy. There's some good songs on there but an 80 minute punk record...definitely not interested in listening to the whole thing. I'll stick with Iceage.

This album is very good too.
Fair enough. Can't lose by keeping it short and sweet though.
And if I'm listening for 80 minutes I need more dynamics. I've got so much other stuff to listen to I just can't be bothered.

i had a big problem with 'chemistry...' because it wasn't punk enough.. but 'david..' sits just nicely. it is noisy enough and the pace of the album fits pink eyes vocals well, unlike the previous album (for me). it is pompous and self-indulgent and completely ridiculous.. but also meticulous and brilliantly executed. it is fast on the track to becoming my favourite album of the last 5 years or so.
oh and the one-two punch of 'slanted tone' and 'serves me right' defies all known definitions of awesome

It's really offputting. I like my hardcore bands to have a bit of muscle behind them. So now I'm going to listen to Void.

is that its just not very good.

i love this album. listening to selected songs feels wrong, like you are betraying the story. the album/story is a cycle that repeats indefinitely. i like how the narrator lies to the audience and this is relayed to david through vivian.. and then they realise they have no freewill because they are fictional characters in a play. brilliant.

i often chuckle "There the fuck is the other shoe" to myself to try and bring some enjoyment to my commute.
last 2 minutes of Queen of Hearts is some of the most uplifting, brilliant music I've heard in ages.
and it rocks like a bastard.
I know this thread is four months old
but I'd like to add I haven't managed to listen to it all the way through in one go yet. But maybe I have attention defici...that dog has somebody's ham, this I gotta see.
