I just drove home through scores of Take That fans, windows down singing along to my hearts content "No body told me it would be like THIS!!"
Six by Seven were/are bloody great
I will say Six by Seven were the first band I ever saw live, they supported Placebo in bristol, I thought they were great, but at the time I was conflicted as my sister had told me all support bands are there to suck so the real band always comes away looking better. It was only a year or so later when I heard Way I Feel Today that I really got into them

and obviously Oh! Dear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uf4XVFTVV1E
back when they had a full band remain two of the best live songs I have ever seen.
or maybe 88-92-96: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBiVxcBPZiI
The first two albums are pretty much impeccable, and the clutch of times I saw them live they were always incredible.
I listen to their 2nd record about once every month. At least.
It's still amazing.
A top ten Six by Seven songs would be amazing. I also think that some of the stuff on records 3 and 4 was up their with their very best.
I think my top 3 though would be:
My life's an accident
it's all about the hammond...
Loved that album.
Sawn off Metallica tshirt was a fave... "I got style, and I'm misunderstood!"
Thought "100 and something Foxhall Road" was a great closer as well.
Got a real bad fucking haircut!
Saw them 6 or 7 times back in the late 90s. Top stuff.
they're no Swervedriver though.
I got into them when The Way I Feel Today was released and worked backwards but think there is a lot I'm missing. Six.byseven:04 is a little mixed.
What's Chris Olley's solo stuff like?
Well, even as a big fan of the band, it was pretty hit and miss. Mainly miss I found.
His side project Twelve was a bit better though.
Chris Davies (ex Six By Seven Drummer) has his own band now Spotlight Kid. Featuring 2 ex-members of Model Morning. I highly recommend them.
Six By Seven are/were great.
Artists Cannibals Poets Thieves is my favourite album.
Just Get It Down is my favourite track.
so I ran up a comp. What a band they were, even if they were miserable swines to interview.
Double disc set (with downloads) for a quid plus two fifty postage. Olley says they're flying out on his blog...
