Name them please...
This is probably the best song ever.
Some of the guys were in shitty limits
They were great
http://www.myspace.com/smokinghearts (changed their singer few months ago, bit heavier now, but still punk)
Check out Moral Dilemma, they are a proper UK punk band!
Seem like really nice people, but it's a little generic tbh and didn't feel it live at all...maybe I caught them on a bad day
I'll give Moral Dilemma a listen, cheers! Loads to check out in this thread!
their a great post hardcore band from Londonhttp://www.myspace.com/thedissociates
Shapes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e6-I8tDhQc&feature=player_embedded#at=62 They sound like all of the great bands on Discord late eighties early nineties
Caves, from Bristol really simple kind of punk with a bit of indie pop thrown in
And I dunno if it counts, but Great Cynics (previously Cynics) are great.
and I'm repeating but current and *fairly* active bands I like
The Computers (hardcore/blues/punk'n'roll from Devon - new album is cracking - produced by swami innit, a few bits definitely have his stamp on them - but more intense than any swami bands vocally - GREAT live)
(and if you like The Computers....definitely check out....)
OK Pilot - kind of like The Bronx, but rawer, more hot snakes-esque bits and rougher round the edges. Also from Devon.
The Arteries - Probably the best live punkrock band in the UK - so tight - 2 really solid albums and loads of other 7" splits, melodic punk with riffy bits and bit of a skatepunk feel occasionally.
Garage punk - been round for ages, but really fun and snotty
Kind of indiepunk - great male/female duelling vocals - kind of thermals/husker du/superchunk ish things going on.
Apologies, I have none
Really amazing songs, heartfelt but without being cheese. Some would say a bit folky, but I dunno, just passionate melodic punkrock really.
Gruff vs girl vocals and really catchy songs - recorded stuff nowhere near as good as they are live, and only getting better. Saw them recently and they're really getting good.
Newish garage punk/melodic hardcore from brighton - I'm not sure about reference points, kind of poppy like elements of the Limits, but with more distinctive/unique vocals...really good demo for download on bandcamp.
Hurrah, I didn't JAG my own band for once. Almost.
I shall endeavour to check lots of these out, cheers!
These guys are great. They kind of have a Shitty Limits thing going on, but there's also some weird psychedelic stuff on their releases as well. Really fun live, too.
Found these guys the other day and they seem really good. Female fronted, clean guitars http://www.ravachol.co.uk/
Pacer - the other members of the Steals band are great. Upbeat straightforward melodic punk
The Cut Ups - best songwriting, both albums are amazing.
Just Panic - lazy ****s, but when they actually do stuff they're pretty great songwriters - don't get enough love.
Brothers - more garage punk'n'roll from devon.
Devon has a ridiculous proportion of ace bands. Really don't understand it.
Great Ancestors - for anyone that loves Hot Snakes. they're amazing.
and on that style...ish...
Matadors - new band from Leeds - great demo for free on band camp (ex-buzzkill/dead reckoning types)
We Fight Tigers from southend were great, but they split up - both free EPs are great snotty minor threat meets shitty limits style garage punk. Seek them out...
from Leeds are really good. They have a new album coming out soon too.
Classic punk band been around for yeaaaaars! Looking to release a new single 'Credit Crunch Christmas' this year in hope to make it Christmas number 1! Why not have a change and make it a punk xmas this year for the first and only time ever! Check the Facebook campaign for more info and like it if you're a punk fan!
Good luck with that
I might start a facebook group to make no one buy any kind of single in the run up to christmas in the UK so that we don't have a christmas number 1.
