Clearly not done enough gigs in London yet
It's been 12 months now since DILLIH, I thought these young men were supposed to be prolific.
have been vaguely intending to though, is it very good? Maybe I'll have a bit more disposable income once that repress happens.
I wasn't really complaining by the way, just being a little tounge in cheek: reading that again it looks a bit like "WHAT THE FUCK ONLY ONE ALBUM A YEAR???". Not my intention.
people in the post office aren't going to like me. going in with 50 LP size packages :S
Emeralds are also recording new material atm as far as I'm aware, so should be more new stuff soon (and a new album from McGuire on Mego)
plus the new Mist record, House. which is John Elliot w/ Sam Goldberg. Also John Elliot S/T lp under the Outer Space from last year is well good.

I've somehow managed to not see them yet
have a very strict noise limit in there and avoid doing anything remotely heavy/rocking at all. Not sure will actual work... (as lovely as it could be)
I do hope so. Last year at the Brudenell was properly amazing.
Can't claim to be disappointed by that
kind of an amazing duo but like anthonyc says the db limit might hinder it, still will go if i can!
Glad I got out of bed to book these now.
If everyone shuts their fucking pieholes (which they tend to do in Union Chapel, I assume it's because they know you're being watched and also you can't take yr boozedrinks in) then the sound will be fine.
it'd be hugely appreciated, obviously, and would save a few hours' lurk on the steps of the chapel looking like a particularly lost soul. Ta!
Fennesz was a little tiresome, my first time seeing him so didn't know exactly what to expect of his live show. Sometimes he hit the spot nicely but really only when he toned back a bit on the distortion. Sometimes he'd have a nice thing going then his guitar would screech all over it rather than compliment it.
Emeralds were insanely good. Mark 'wonderboy' McGuire's guitar wasn't working for like the first 10 or 15 minutes, throwing the long haired chap into a bit of a huff and he started shooting death glares at the soundman. Then at the end McGuire kept on going way after long haired chap and kraftwerk man had finished. Long haired chap didn't like this at all, yelled at him to cut it out, then when he finally did he chucked one of his synths to the floor in what seemed to be frustration. He need not worry though, the set was great.
although last two times ive seen emeralds, he's done that flip-the-synth-over-onto-the-floor move as he's left the stage.
I kept expecting him to suddenly jump over to the upright piano behind him and launch into a Meatloaf number.
Also: Fennesz was realy really good, so well suited to the venue. He should've gone on for longer.
Didn't quite understand why..
were immense and I got a much better understanding of what actually happens on stage watching them this time round.
Mark McGuire and the long haired jeans-hoisting dude were a joy to watch. The non-existant guitar sound during the start was a bit annoying but they seemed to fix it mid way through so that was ok.
I did feel a bit short changed as their playing time was less than 40 minutes. But, what a great 40 minutes it was.
Roll on the McGuire solo round the corner next month.
John Elliot is the 'long-haired guy' (i believe)
John Elliott is the shorthaired one.
Long hair is Steve Hauschildt
headbanger is John and stock still guy is Steve.
I annoyingly missed out on the show as my dead bolt broke and lock me out of my flat just before the show and had to get the locksmith out, which sucks as I was looking forward to that for a long time!
To see Emeralds soon. Is getting silly now!
