Sounds like a great night! Oh, and even Lol turned up and played with them.
I forgot that was on the other night
anyone know if they played The Weedy Burton?
Should've done this in Melbourne. Why can't Vivid Fest seriously utilise the culture and (superior) venues of Melbourne?
Then again, I just fucking how overrated Sydney is...
Cool setlist though.
I'll take Melbourne over Sydney any day
but kinda hard to go past the Opera House as a venue, if only for the prestige factor.
Would have to be the prestige factor
because supposedly it's shit acoustically. Not that I would have a clue, just something I've heard a couple of times.
Yeah, the Opera House is definitely notorious for having terrible acoustics
I think most of the rooms/areas/whatever are also all-seater as well.. Did they remove the seating, or what?
surely some of those songs are on their first 3 albums?
did they just leave them out of the set or do you not literally mean they played their first 3 albums?
on a side note, i can't wait to see them at Bestival now.
no, they're all singles, b-sides or compilation tracks released around the same time (sort of)
Killing An Arab (b/w 10:15 Saturday Night, also on 3IB), Boys Don't Cry b/w Plastic Passion, and Jumping Someone Else's Train b/w I'm Cold were all non-album singles, preceding the debut album, Three Imaginary Boys.
World War was included on Boys Don't Cry (the compilation of the early singles plus the better tracks from 3IB that was pulled together for the US market), although only on early copies.
Another Journey by Train was b-side to A Forest (single cut from Seventeen Seconds).
Descent was b-side to Primary (single cut from Faith)
Then the other tracks were all post-Faith songs:
Charlotte Sometimes b/w Splintered in Her Head was a non-album single released between Faith and Pornography. Hanging Garden was single lifted from Pornography. Let's Go to Bed, The Walk and The Lovecats were non-album singles released after Pornography and after RS had 'disbanded' the Cure.
Do you even like The Cure?
You didn't mention something unimportant. Possibly. I can do this kind of stuff for the Cocteau Twins from memory. If you didn't do this just from the stuff in your head, then it doesn't count. I saw The Cure at Giants Stadium in 1989, they were super.
I admit that I had to double check a few facts
'cos I haven't thought about it in that much detail for years, but I didn't have anything wrong.
it was the bdc compilation that confused me.
far, far superior to 3IB
Weedy Burton

cannot believe they actually played it
Best Vids from both nights - I can find anyway.
