i was going to try and get someone to delete this thread, but eh...fuck it.
good label, on fire atm. for fans of music and stuff.
new Polymer Slug = lovely, short, sometimes casio-based ambient/drone pieces.
Charlatan, new Brad Rose (Digitalis, The New Year, Altar Eagle etc.) = futuristic synth music. bit more warm and playful than some other stuff.
fun, to some degree abstract hip-hop, to some degree dancey synth h-pop music a la 100% Silk etc.
only listened to a bit of Polymer Slug, but it sounds pretty nice. remind me to listen to the rest when I get home (or I'll just remember w/e)
I've been looking for shorter ambient/drone stuff as it happens. sometimes I don't have the attention span to listen to full on 45 minute drone pieces and I just want something short that gets to the point and moves on. even when I'm playing about with some instruments and think 'yeah, I'll make some drone' it always ends up being 3 minutes long, because I don't even have the attention span to spend ages on it. but then people will probably argue it's not really drone or whatever. I like it anyway. everything kind of flows together to become one larger piece. nice.
Voyagers is not bad either. really big synth sound on Svetlana. makes me think of movies from the '70s about lonely astronauts living in space stations with only tiny robots for company, drifting off into their inevitable death, etc.
ah. good. it's polymer slug 2nd lp. the first one is good too.
have you heard lee noble?
he also does a kind of fairly varied accessible short-form ambient thing.
andy & zeus are quite nice too.
