am doing a mini-assignment for an interview and am looking at good little things bands have done to market their forthcoming releases, either physically like leaving usb sticks with a track on at a gig for the fans or having good viral campaigns online.
For the latter I noted Broken Bells' adverts for their S/T which guided you a loop of one of their tracks which changed when you refreshed.. and the former I was reading about NIN leaving usbs around on their european tour in '07. I am just seeing what i can find at the mo.
Anyone think of interesting ways bands have marketed their albums? have any of you received something interesting at a show or been give something particularly 'cool'? Have any of you thought how good a particular online campaign/ploy was by a band that compelled you to at least mention it to someone else?
Be grateful for any feedback
