Bumsnogger
Absolute prick.
huh?! why?
I love this: "(Rowetta) was the only one man enough to step in cause all the others were scared off by criticism and she was the only one that was prepared to do it"
Rowetta was indeed great at the Unknown Pleasures gig at the 1234 Shoreditch festival last year. That's the only one I've seen but I *loved* that show. Don't get all the negative comments, sorry
Jay-zus
what a douche. I'd have far more respect for the man if he'd seemed interested in being this keeper of the flame prior to New Order going down the shitter. And also the comment about New Order ignoring Joy Division and him only finally being able to play these songs is just totally disingenuous - from 1998 onwards New Order played plenty of Joy Division...
I didn't follow New Order's career all that closely...
but didn't they mainly just play a few well known JD songs during the encore, mainly LWTUA? They certainly didn't do sets like Mr Hook is doing right now, it didn't have the same kind of focus and intensity. For the record, I saw New Order only once, at Glastonbury, and I think they played about 4 Joy Division songs towards the end of the set and I thought that was great too. I just don't see anything wrong with either.
he's a shameless opportunist who is looking to cash in all his remaining chips
if you don't mind that then good for you, they're top songs with great basslines.
I dunno, you don't appear to be a street teamer and it seems like you've seen this band live, which I doubt any of us have, so maybe they are this incredibly intense act or whatever, but I just feel no urge whatsoever to see a middle aged Joy Division covers band.
But it's Hooky's behaviour in general that's so depressing - he leaves New Order, and then all of a sudden he's Mr Hacienda, Mr Factory, Mr Joy Division - why does he give a shit all of a sudden?
Tony Wilson was totally preposterous, but you can see that he actually cared; Hooky's actions just seem to be about legacy preservation, reflected glory and making money.
hmmm...
as far as I understand it was initially staged as a *tribute* concert on the 30th anniversay of Ian Curtis' death. And then he was invited to tour it. I don't see why he shouldn't "give a shit" about having been in one of the most influential bands of all time. And yes, I've seen them last year at Shoreditch Park, and I'm just an old fan of this record and never thought I would see it played it live. I was actually in tears by about the third song... anyway, whatever. I can see your point(s) but I just can't see it in such negative terms. Maybe if I'd see them again (I missed that Scala show for some reason) it wouldn't work for me either.
Hey - is he the dude from Monaco?
* Freebass
um
Peter Hook isn't the singer in Joy Division is he?
unfortunately for us
he seems to think that he is
Suddenly never having heard of Joy Division or New Order seems so much the better option
I was at that Shoreditch thing too...
And one of the weirdest things about it was that he can actually do a fairly decent Curtis impression, his vocals weren't actually that bad.
The problem was though that he CLEARLY couldn't sing and play bass simultaneously so, apart from the ones with the guest vocalist he just struck a pose with his bass while the session bassist from the backing band (who was pretty weak) bumbled away in the background.
All of this meant that the only Joy Division member on stage was Peter Hook and the weakest element was the bass!
I found his wallet once.
It was full of blood money.
As a fan of NO and JD
Peter Hook still appears to me as a clash between an uncle trying to be cool and a money-grabbing cunt. I wonder why.
