Stephan Mathieu (12k/Line, Die Dchachtel)
Stephan Mathieu is a self taught composer and performer of his own music, working in the fields of electroacoustics and abstract digitala. His sound is largely based on early instruments, environmental sound and obsolete media, which are recorded and transformed by means of experimental microphony, re-editing techniques and software processes involving spectral analysis and convolution; it has been compared to the landscape paintings of Caspar David Friedrich, the work of Colorfield artists Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Ellsworth Kelly.
“By the way, Stephan Mathieu is considered one of the most important laptop musicians of our days.” -Wired Magazine, San Francisco
BJ Nilsen (Touch)
BJ Nilsen has been active with experimental music for over 20 years. For the past 10 years he has been releasing albums on Touch, making music and sound design for documentary film, television and commercials.
He is focused on the sound of nature and its effect on humans, field recordings and the perception of time and space as experienced through sound, often electronically treated.
BJ Nilsen has collaborated with Chris Watson, Hildur Gudnadottir, Philip Jeck and Stilluppsteypa amongst others.
Simon Scott (Miasmah/Immune)
Over almost two decades, Simon Scott's career has touched more musical bases than most dare dream of. Record Label owner (Kesh), TV soundtrack composer, Eno collaborator and member of the legendary Slowdive - Simon has recently shared stages with artists as diverse as Machinefabriek and Fever Ray. 2009 release 'Navigare' on Erik K. Skodvin's Miasmah label demonstrates his love of dimly lit soundscapes, shimmering tones, washes of interference and apocalyptic rhythms.
TSU is the duo of Jörg-Maria Zeger (DE) and Robert Curgenven (AU) drawing on the raw physicality of sound, described as being “like riding on the front of a ship into a storm.” Their first collaboration “Largo Cappriccioso” features on “Oltre” (2010, LINE/12K).
Danny Saul is an experimental musician and songwriter based in Manchester, UK. Aside from his work as a solo performer, his involvement in a variety of projects over the past few years have included an ongoing improvisational partnership with Greg Haines (working under the name Liondialer), and a number of notable collaborations and live performances with the likes of Ben Frost, Machinefabriek, Peter Broderick, Jasper TX and Simon Scott among others.
Relmic Statute (Cotton Goods) is Leeds-based artist David Horner, who assembles lulling, grainy soundscapes based on the splicing of field recordings collected from cassettes and old 1/4-inch tape.
Ithaca Trio is the project of Oliver Thurley, a composer based in Leeds, UK. Established in 2009, The Ithaca Trio is a collage of compositions, soundscapes, improvisations, field recordings, manipulations and experimentations recorded by various members of the Deus Ex Machina Arkestra and assosiated sound-propagators.
Talvihorros is an experimental composer from London, UK exploring the possibilities of the guitar. His compositions venture into the fields of ambient, experimental, drone, post-rock and folk but don't fall into the cliches associated with any of these genres.
Richard A Ingram
Richard A Ingram is a pseudonym of Gambler, guitarist and keyboardist in Manchester band Oceansize. “Lullaby” is his first self-released CD-R. This was followed by his debut album ‘Consolamentum’, released on Manchesters ‘White Box’ label. His music ranges from solo piano miniatures to hiss laden experimental tape doomdrones.
