He's really brilliant. "Anthony Fantano, the internets busyiest. Music. Nerd." love um. AND CAL CHUCHESTA!
but significantly less irritating. All the reviews I've watched so far have been pretty spot on
I think he's great. if he reviewed every album ever and nardwuar did every interview music journalism would be perfect.
I have a watch if there is a big buzz album around and he's reviewed it. I don't like him though. He's a bit annoying but I like his idea. Does anyone else do the vid review thing on youtube but you know with good music and less annoying...
some needs to be way more annoying, so annoying they're funny or you know good. Dunno which one I'm gegging for the most tbh
He's like my mom or something.
he just follows p4k then spaffs out spam on ye'tube. Its a good trick but he's not doing it for me.
Pretty much every review of his I've watched simply goes 'so this album is basically the same as all their other albums but it's also different' and then gives it a 'LIGHT 7' or whatever. Complete nonce.
his mannerisms make him seem incredibly annoying, almost to the point where I will often find myself disagreeing with everything he says despite him often being pretty on the money. I dunno, I guess this is why music critics shouldn't speak on camera I imagine a fair few to be a bit like this guy.
not sure about that, he hardly has an opion or any taste of his own he just spaffs out a load of p4k opinion and thats it. He needs to find a voice of his own and his annoying mannerisms would fall back a bit naturaly.
and he is what I imagine a stereotypical pitchfork reader to look like I don't think he regurgitates opinions. But don't get me wrong I'm not defending the guy per say I just think his opinions are usually pretty strong and often I enjoy the stuff he recommends, I concede that saying spot on was a bit much.
but i don't think he's critical enough to be interesting. he'll say all these lovely things about a record and then go "BUT" and mention all the things he dislikes about the album in the space of about 5 seconds. he just seems to love everything.
so far it's been enough to dissuade me from ever pursuing further
that mean nothing.
and not in the good way
Wants to run things.
Has no talent.
Can talk a lot.
Hasn't paid attention to his reviews. He gave Radiohead a 6 and Panda Bear a 5, boom. Disqualified from the Pitchfork comparison.
He seems to be a reasonably well informed music fan who thought he'd like to do a video blog. If you read his comments he's always modest and self-deprecating, I don't get the hate. It's not like he sees himself as an authority.
It's like wild-fire round these parts!
