Will it really happen?
Really? From The Sun, I can take that with a pinch of salt, until I see it confirmed elsewhere.
I'd struggle to believe it
but you're better off with your memories anyway. Great records, but try and find a bootleg of one of their live gigs and listen to Mr Brown "singing". It's not pretty.
this is the best roses bootleg i've ever heard
http://bootlegs4u.blogspot.com/2009/01/stone-roses-leeds-town-country-club.html
also since when did the sun start using sentences like "about as easy as trapping mercury"? :D
trapping mercury is really easy
as a million + thermometers will testify
meh
hi
It's on NME now . . .
http://www.nme.com/news/the-stone-roses/55962
Still not sure I believe it. It would be great to see them live as long as they stuck mostly to the first album.
^Totally ripped off the Sun
Not a confirmation by another source.
Third Coming.
doesn't really have the same ring to it.
nah
Squire neither wants nor needs it.
Yeah, I'm sure his painting career is massively lucrative
I'm pretty sure his royalties income is pretty bloody lucrative.
You're right
People are always happy to make a comfortable living from their royalties rather than take a big paycheck to play a few gigs.
Agreed.
Cracking write-up isn't it?
"Their first album remains one of the best debuts ever..." Hmm....
"Mani, one of the best blokes in music..." - I'll leave that one hanging...
C'mon, be a big hoax, be a big hoax.
Their first album does remain one of the finest debuts ever
It really doesn't
It does
Why does it not? What would you say are the best debuts ever?
Part of me quite wants this.
Part of me really, really doesn't.
The latter part of me is much bigger, because it knows that this really won't be good.
i'm kinda the same
if i could get them to play a gig in my front room then yes
if i'd have to go to some god-awful gig with 60,000 pissed up cunts in flares and fisherman hats then no
I went to see Ian Brown a few years ago when he'd only just started playing Stone Roses songs live again
It was fucking great.
similarly
i saw Squire on his first solo tour at tuts in glasgow
He finished on Waterfall, She Bangs the Drums into the full version of I am the Resurrection
it was fucking great
No part of me want this
It will be embarrassing for all concerned. I'm extremely skeptical this will happen anyway, especially a 'full' reunion i.e. with Reni as well.
Seven days late!
*6
Six days late!
Got to be bollocks
hasn't it? There was rumour of one about 2 and a half years ago that was meant to be nailed on and it never happened. As long as Squire is still painting, and not playing guitar - it won't happen. Anyway, what happened to Reni? He was in a band about 10 years ago called The Rub, and has never been seen since.
Meh!
The debut remains one of my favourite albums
but I can't see this being a good idea. I will probably go to see them though.
I dunno, I'd quite like this
cause I really really like the debut as a melodic pop album and nothing more, definitely nowhere near a 'favourite debut album' for me, so it wouldn't really be ruining anything for me to see them.
I can't help but think it would be funny
if they came on stage in front of thousands of mad fer it fans and struck up with a full seven minutes of Breaking Into Heaven segueing into Love Spreads.
It wouldn't be funny.
It'd be ace.
I tell you what would be funnier
If their comeback gig was a 'Don't Look Back' type thing where they play that 'debut' album they recorded with Martin Hannett in full.
*whispers* I like that album
I think i'd like to go and be nostalgic
but it wouldn't beak my heart not to. Shame really, because when i was a teenager, i was so in love with them. They should do Delamere forest or something similar if it is true and certainly not shitty arenas like the MEN. I give the idea 7/10.
I hope this is true
Just so that when they die on their ass we can finally put them down in the history books as a totally passable, 6/10 band and burn all those fucking floppy hats.
I remember I used to hate The Stone Roses, I Wanna Be Adored aside.
Then a few years ago I caught myself drunkenly dancing to I Am the Resurrection and thought that maybe I DID like The Stone Roses after all.
Turned out I was right the first time.
*eats sandwich*
someone should start a re-union festival.
What if Toploader showed up?
doesnt matter.
i wouldnt have gone to the festival.
They need to have Reni on board.
Someone get Ride to support
this, as a direct result, would mean Beady Eye would clear off.
Nice of them to wait until the exact moment...
....I no longer cared.
what does Reni do now?
Prevents indigestion and heartburn.
:)
Mani
I'm disgusted that my personal grief has been invaded and hijacked by these nonsensical stories. Two old friends meeting up after 15 years to pay their respects to my mother does not constitute the reformation of The Stone Roses. Please fuck off and leave it alone. It isn't true and isn't happening.
The Sun lied to us?
I'm shocked.
Screw the Sun, anyway, they hated the Roses at the time (had an article about Elizabeth My Dear "pop yobs hurl sick lyrics at Royal Family"...though on the other hand, that's what got me interested in the Roses, so it had some value).
Ten years ago I was willing this to happen
But that time has been and gone. It would be embarrassing for all concerned. Let's have our memories and move on
Mani's words on the Primal Scream forum
Pretty disgusting hijacking my ma's funeral don't you think. Yes,it's great that messrs squire and brown kissed and made up,that gladdens my heart, but they were both there to pay respects to a lady they loved and who loved them back. Wasn't conscious of us having played an acoustic gig at the crematorium !!!!. Ho hum, what do you expect from the gutter press. Bag of total fabricated shite, don't believe the hype !!!.
The Sun still maintains that it is happening
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3873771/Stone-Roses-reform.html
It wouldn't be a full original line-up...
http://www.nme.com/news/the-stone-roses/59820
really enjoyed reading that mate
i actually went and reading your review was better than actually being there. well done!
nah, i had a magical day (went sunday)
was down front....the whole day was ace. shouldve started with breaking into heaven though
