Curating a day at Sydney Vivid Live in June
Hopefully this will kick the second album into action..
they also no longer have the 'clearing samples' message on their Myspace, the album will be here soon... I know it
I just want to hear it!
there's going to be a REISSUE of the first one.
no release date set.
and added some unreleased mixes to their website...although the mixes are all around 5 years old...the reissue and/or 2nd album must be due.
is there anything he isn't remixing lately?
But yeah, they seem to be a lot more 'active' in recent weeks. Excited if there's a new album coming up.
with an album following later in 2012, the was an interview like
Their mixes are the stuff of kings. Having Ariel Pink guest on the LP is a bad sign though... isn't it?
has been on constant rotation on my iPod for some years now..
he's had a bad week
they seem to be glossing over that
For anyone interested in the music for that new Seat Ibiza advert known as both 'Perfection requires a touch of madness' or 'Madhouse' or whatever....
It *isn't* Frontier Pyschiatrist by The Avalanches - not a remix, not the original, nada, zip. Anyone who *does* say it is obviously hasn't heard it since it was out. Song of The Salesman is wrong on this, trust me.
Actually, it's a comissioned piece specifically for SEAT, which they have named as called 'Madhouse'. You won't be able to find it. Give up, and just rant at the advertising company until they finally release it (like the VW advert featuring the remix of 'Singin' in the Rain, which wasn't meant to be released until all the DJs pleaded for it). Sorry.
SOURCE: HMV.com - Lists the track as 'Commissioned piece for Seat - Madhouse'"
But perfectly legal. Mental. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqptkb6kZTg
There's a small industry based around 'sample replaying', where companies hire studio boffins to create a piece of music that sounds almost exactly like another song, while avoiding any copyright issues. (Usually the notes in the song are changed ever so slightly.)
Onra talks about it happening to one of his tunes here: http://www.myspace.com/onra/blog/415961039
they were still being dicks, though
he got so self righteous about a fucking grammy award, and then literally appears himself on a whiskey poster?
Shall we start taking guesses as to what it's going to sound like?
I hope they keep true to the "so fuckin party you will die" statement that was released a few years ago but something slightly more mellow in points could work too.
Since I Left You is my favourite album of the last decade so I'm obviously excited. The guest vocalists make me think it could sound a bit like some of their amazing remixes (Belle and Sebastian, Badly Drawn Boy etc) or even like parts of their first mini album El Producto (which was very Beastie Boys but fantastic).
The fact that the wait appears to almost be over is starting to make me a bit nervous, shifting from the "hurry up already" of the past years to "don't worry about taking a bit longer, this has to be perfect".
When I see confirmation of the album's release, I'll get excited about it.
