In fact, definitely quite a lot. But I can't remember them off the top of my head. Apart from David Axelrod. And I think I started listening to Horace Andy cos of that Buck 65 track where he calls Youth of Today his favourite song, but that's not sampling.

The two main ones for me are Parliament & Funkadelic.
I was always aware that a lot of my favourite rap songs contained samples of both of them but it wasn't until I got Spotify a while back that I was able to sift through George Clinton's huge back catalogue and find loads of the parts that were sampled, many of which were short riffs that only occured once or twice throughout the song and highlighted the genius of the sampling on a lot of late 80's and early 90's hip hop albums, seeking out unique samples to loop rather than taking a main riff or the most familiar part of a particular song. Two of the best examples of this are http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91uiCqUd1lc and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oJM22XG5hc, both of which contain some of the most insanely funky riffs I've ever heard. It was through this that I actually became a fan of a lot of the Funkadelic, and especially Parliament, albums.
Also, even though I had always been aware of him, I could say the same for James Brown, as over the last couple of years I've really got into his 70's harder funk albums which are all the more ejoyable for being able to pick out all of the parts that became Bomb Squad, Ice-T and Eric B samples.
