Anyone else loving this album? haven't seen any mention on here yet.
Easily one of my favourites of the year thus far, it's sublime stuff...
some good moments but nothing that makes me come back for more
There seems to be nothing that particularly stands out but it's just so enjoyable overall as an extended EP/album.
looking forward to the lexington show
certainly is a grower. Apart from The Lexington (for which I've a ticket), I wonder if they do anymore shows in London.
and a date a camp aswel.
awesome album, saw them 5 times at SXSW - they are awesome live, really awesome
more like 9.1 for me, second only to the james blake album this year.
it's seems to have just the right mix of playful psychedelic jams and surprisingly touching moments.
Ticketweb come to about £14.50p. Tempting. Braids' sound I think would suit Heaven rather than The Lexington. The album is one of the highlights of the year so far.
This is good. It's very MPPesque though. When are they playing the Lexington?
less than 30 tickets left though
Like there's no real emotion to it. I don't want to say it's sterile, because it's not quite that, but I get no real feeling from it. Maybe contentedness. Slight, barely existent contentedness. "What emotional state were you in when you made this album?" "Yeah, we were content. Couldn't have complained." "Happy?" "No, not happy. Just... you know. Content."
p.s. they're also over ---> in the recommended releases section :)
Got this, new Okkervil, The Antlers and ASIYFA at the weekend and the others have barely had a look in so far!
Do they deliberately riff on other bands? Very MPP in places, and the singer sounds just like Joanna Newsom on one song and Bjork on another, it's so blatant it must be deliberate no? Anyhow, even if the style isn't very original it's still bloody well done.
know what time the bands will be on at tomorrow's Lexington gig? & who the support band are/if they're any good?
Looking forward to seeing Braids live anyhow!
braids on from 9.30
support have asked not to be announced in advance
The Lexington's site.
thanks for the info!
Incredible performance... probably my gig of the year so far.
Properly stoked for it. Personally I love the singer's voice, works a treat
Quite looking forward to seeing them tomorrow night.
tho any gig at the cockpit 3 is instantly ruined a little bit by actually being in that venue.
they playing long sets? Am knackered!
pleasant and very listenable, just not a favourite or something I come back to too often
Free to a good home. PM me if you're interested.
the MPP comparison is way off, it sounds like a complete feels rip off.
that new song at the end was incredible.. what a voice..
They played a couple of songs that weren't on the album actually. I wonder if they'll do an EP or something.
which I hadn't heard before. Was wondering if maybe those two new songs were from there?
I'll be getting it now
I'm fairly sure the lead vocalist was electrocuted at one point. They were good though, shame they didn't manage a full set.
and the set-up apparently trying to kill them, I enjoyed their four tunes. Hope they can put their issues behind them and come back soon. Hopefully in a proper venue, next time...
At least they are in Birmingham, haven't checked the other dates. That's a good double bill.
That'll be a good night at Manchester Cathedral
at XOYO and supporting Wild Beasts on all their dates according to their site.
or online if you're quick - support comes from Exitmusic and Capac so a bargain of a night
new tune up on pitchforkmedia.com
seems a bit boring. less playful and fun than Glass Deers or Lemonade. my mental image when listening to it is a guy, maybe 22, by himself feeling a bit melancholic because he can't hear the song being played at Field Day festival.
The song, not your post.
Can't wait for this album
are doing a UK tour next month <3
Have now rectified and downloaded... diving in.
they seem to have taken quite a change of direction but I think it's seasonal...their first album was all about summer (Blue Gown is such a brilliant pop track!) and their latest LP was all themed around winter. They're great, I had totally managed to miss them on the Dot to Dot line up until today
i heard the album and the vocals were so bad and it was lacking in anything that made it stand out
