Don't freak out....
The other Burial/Four Tet collab was suprisingly good, I'm not really a fan of Four Tet.
Until his last record and the absolutely fabulous mix session for FACT (no.182 - Sep. 10).
Die Spambot! Die!
doing my best to stop them. might just have to revert to facebook sign-ups only for a while.
The tracks will get their first airing tonight (Tuesday 15th) on Rinse FM during the Four Tet vs Floating Points 2hr back-to-back.
The A-side is by Burial, and called ‘Ego’, the B-side is a Four Tet and Thom Yorke collaboration titled ‘Mirror’.
I'd beleave bleep more...
Burial & Four Tet / Thom Yorke
Ego / Mirror
Don't know how that will translate on the wax... could be all tracks by all of them or one Burial & Four Tet track and one Thom Yorke track who knows. Will see soon enough when it arrives though
Rinse FM regular Floating Points welcomes Four Tet into the studio for a 2-hour back to back session on Tuesday 15th March from 2300-0100 GMT.
Rough Trade sold out of their initial batch (possibly only batch). Guessing this is a 500-1000 pressing.
rough trade took about a decade last time I ordered from them. I wouldn't bother with them again really. The last Burial Fourtet 12" got a few represses too I think. Dunno how many there was mind.
if it had been a general announcement. I'm not sure that previous Burial Fourtet 12" was repressed though. I thought it was 1000 copies and gone. Might be wrong.
A two track collaborative twelve inch from Burial + Four Tet + Thom Yorke...
A-side is titled "EGO", AA-side titled "MIRROR". Plain black house bag and black label.
The tracks will get their first airing tonight (Tuesday 15th) on Rinse FM during the Four Tet vs. Floating Points back to back session tonight at 23:00 GMT. We will be shipping this week...
bleeeeeeep news letter
would never buy from Bleep again after i bought 2 CDs - took them TWO MONTHS TO DELIVER. Both were in stock. Lame.
RT are over priced but they're the lesser of 2 evils in this case.
It'll sit nicely next to my Burial Four Tet (Text006) BOOM
By 13:18 it's out of stock
I guess I'll buy it on Discogs in a couple of weeks for four times the price (at least I'll know by then if I actually want it.)
ordered! (God, I hate getting sucked into this hype, but what can you do.)
after deciding while I was holding the vinyl in my hand in a shop that, because the only available turntable to me was 300 miles away and I wasn't going to get to play it for 3 months, that I shouldn't waste 6 quid. Kills me everytime I go on discogs now and see it selling for 40 quid. So I'm massively overcompensating this time around.
My day = made.
but at least we'll be getting new Burial material.
Just ordered from rise
It from Rough Trade, looking forward it lots!
but just click listen live here http://rinse.fm/
ordered but claimed currently not in stock but will be sent when it is. being this limited im unsure, anyone got previous experience with catapult?
Still says it is available for pre-order on their site. No mention of it being out of stock in any of the confirmation e-mails either. Strange.
This is excellent. Probably a better song than anything on KoL.
definite burial thom yorke collab
nah, definitely all three. no-way burial is fucking around with wood-chimes, or those big housey chords.
*marimbas. i was thinking it was late, and i couldnt remember what they were called. i'm a dick.
it's reasonably nice. like the first minute, and that sound just before thom yorke comes in is lovely. but idk, his voice kind of 'humanizes' burial's sound a bit for me; takes away from the real bleak atmosphere of it, but it's got a pretty solid groove, and it's certainly be nice to listen to a night-bus or having a bath or something. maybe it's a grower.
i'd imagine juno/chemical/mebbe norman will do the same; even if i guess they'll all get pretty limited copies.
so yeh, just keeep checking back those places i guess
getting it on Thursday according to their Facebook page.
don't know why i said next week. i thought it was thursday already or something.
but for different reasons.
the el-b collab/commix remix + this, just in terms of sample and production from his end, all feel pretty burial-by-numbers, tho, yeh.
i'd really, really love to hear an lp of material in the style of fostercare, but i don't know if that's ever gonna happen.
(in this case that's not necessarily a bad thing, burial by numbers + four tet + thom yorke could be/maybe is great. idk, if burial was gonna do a huge stylistic shift i think i'd rather hear it on his own terms rather than with four tet housifying it and thom yorke/jamie woon/whoever warbling away over the top.)
he's always been pretty limited technically tho hasn't he?
But the styles don't seem to mix all that well in my opinion. I reckon I prefer 'Mirror' out of the two: the beat (largely Burial's handiwork I imagine) and the tinny percussive noises beneath the surface (sounds like something from the Four Tet vocabulary; you hear it in isolation when the beat drops out at 2:13), work beatifully together.
beatiful should be a word though.
Here's hoping my Rough Trade pre-order comes through, though I won't hold my breath. Agree with the comments on the Burial trademarks. Is he just lazy using the same sounds or is he doing something utterly amazing beyond my comprehension?
Sounds great to me.
now up on http://facebook.com/DrownedinSound as our "song of the day"
it took me a while to get on board with the last Four Tet/Burial colab too. Not sure Thom's vocals fit that well really. The beat on 'Mirror' is awsome though, you can't beat those Burial garage rhythms. I think thats my fave of the two, the other one is a bit to Four Tet for me, I mean his stuff with Burial is a massive step up from his solo bits but its still not blowing me away. We'll see if they grow on me I guess.
Not so gutted now I've heard them. Ego edges it for me but that's still not entirely floating my boat. Both Moth and Wolf Cub are more my kind of thing but horses for courses and all that.
More solo Burial and a release of True Love VIP plz.
Banquet records put some more up on their site just now
I thought I was being helpful, but now I've read your post properly and realise you're probably not actually that bothered anymore!
i do like the fact at the end of mirror, floating points or whoever mixed into el-b & j da flex, and it was a zillion times better and completely killed the NEWMUSICWOWWOWWOWWOWWOW hype that had gone before tho.
Lyrics are like when I fall in love, it will be forever?
this would be loads better, wouldn't it?
Like, OH SHIT WE FORGOT OUR MATE WANTED TO SING ON THIS.
you can get it at Norman Records now: http://bit.ly/gtDZO2
...but no confirmation email, and now it's sold out. Hmmm.
it sounds way better in real life. Thom's vocals sit well in the mix, which I didn't think they did in the youtube rip. Pretty damn nice overall.
Four Tet / Daphni (Caribou) - Pinnacles / Ye Ye
I've just been down there and picked one up, £9.99 so not a bargain, but cheaper than eBay!
for £24.99. Nice.
Still sounds a little off but better than the radio rips.
would someone know which artist is it on the 27th minute of the RinseFM show ?? can't hear what the guy says...
thx a lot
well i got the answer...
so if anyone wants to know : it's Willie Wright with Right On For the Darkness
ordered his cd the other day and thought it cam with a bonus cd & turned out to be a 5" single a bit strange never seen a 5" vinyl single before.
which I found in the cheap cd single racks of Record and Tape Exchange. I've never seen anything else. A bit like 3" cds, back in the day.
3" cds are still pretty big in ambient circles. machinefabriek etc. do them all the time.
this sounds SO MUCH BETTER on vinyl. It's fucking brilliant.
More ego/mirror getting pressed at the moment... hope to have it in the shops soon.
does anybody want a copy?
I inadvertently ordered two and would like the second to go to a good home. It'll be whatever cost turns out to be and P+P. Deal?
but the next release on Four Tet's label is an absolute belter. That bass will destroy sound systems.
I was like what bass? Then I was like oh. Then I was like ohhhhhh.
