'same old bands from ATP moan groan' comments
I saw this on the right hand side thing and initially thought it must have been someone bumping a thread from a couple of years ago.
i think there'll a being a good mix of fun and 'interesting' stuff, and it'll be really stylistically varied too. great approach.
don't give a dogs dick if i've seen them all before. FUN TIMES!!!!
I just giggled a bit to myself at the potential impending STILL STUCK IN THE PAST, ATP?pocalypse.
Could potentially be interesting though.
would you like to share a chalet/bed with me? Catriona can sleep on the sofa.
except I haven't seen them all before. BONUS!!!!
I mean, there's the danger that Battles will just bring over the usual new york mob, but I suspect that at the very least they and Caribou will pick some quite eccentric bands. Would be awesome if the Caribou day is proper dancey.
And then I will be megasadz from not being able to go.
and raise you The Field and Fuck Buttons.
I think there's a lot more potential in getting one band to curate each day, I think the last couple of NBCs have been a little monotonous in part because of the sole curators.
I went to the Mudhoney/YeahYeahYeahs/Devendra Banhart one, and I loved the fact that each day had its own particular character.
I enjoyed every moment of it, one of the best festivals I had ever been to with a fantastic line up with every band playing to their god damned limit :D
Could be interesting and very varied though.
I actually saw Les Savy Fav last night for the first time and they were brilliant. Seeing Battles and Caribou at Primavera but you can imagine the three of them putting together a fair lineup.
They were awesome. I got my hair stroked and everything.
Imagine this ATP could be dead dead good.
Brilliant gig. Even a faceful of Tim's armpit at one point couldn't spoil it.
This weekend is going to be very fun!
Don't know what you're on about, mate.
Raanraals has moved on to doing it on the ATP threads as well.
Good to see that it is still the ATP with balls.
..as he does vocals on the new album?
seems the opposite to me.
(In a heavier is more balls kind of way)
I don't mean it in a new, exciting, no repeat band way.
but I have a spare ticket for the Animal Collective ATP and a spare ticket for the Jeff Magnum ATP. It's enough to make you wish you were ninety and dead
Did nobody else get the email with the pre-sale link?
I would very very very much like to see these bands.
The chances of me going to this are zero though so that's a shame. I am somewhat bummed out.
Steal money and get a ticket?
and I'm making the trek all the way from the States. So, my question is if about three or four people are tagging along... how do I go about this? What would be the best deal? I'm new to this so excuse my naivety. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Get a chalet for four, I guess. Am I missing something here?
one person buys the tickets for a chalet of the required size (e.g. 4 person chalet = 4 tickets) and that person receives the tickets.
On the day you'll 'check in' and exchange the tickets for 4 wristbands and a couple of chalet keys and fill in a form to say you or anyone else in the chalet won't destroy the chalet.
I thought I was sick of ATP, damn it. NO ONE IS SAFE.
Someone chalet me up? :(
OTP gave ATP at least £350 last year (according to his posts on here). With enemies like that, who needs friends?
of the two ATP announcements. Especially as they are both great. I don't think the Mangum early birds sold out either.
Has everyone discovered something else to get thier indie-knickers in a tizzy about, or is it just that these are 9 months away and the panic posts can wait?
FUNNY YOU SHOULD SAY THAT etc
but is there going to be a inbetween days?
We'll be announcing quite soon. And it will be very very good.
traditionally supposed to be a lil bit gothy?
Don't think The Cure play it much.
booked a 4 berth with some friends today.
you're probably the losers who go to every single atp festival right? amiright?
according to Tim Harrington's Twitter.
Archers Of Loaf is a good choice.
Les Savy Fav who headline and curate 9th December have chosen:
ARCHERS OF LOAF (reformed - first UK show in over ten years!)
Battles who headline and curate 10th December have chosen:
THE PSYCHIC PARAMOUNT
Caribou who headline and curate 11th December have chosen:
THE EX with GETACHEW MEKURIA
Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit.
it's shaping up to be a really diverse line-up already.
shame on all of you "self-parodying" types...
despite the majority (again) being repeats of past ATPs its a really good mix.
haven't played an ATP festival before. 6 of the 9 really as The Ex with Getachew will be totally different to what they've played at ATP before. (we've had walls at release the bats and psychic paramount at primavera, but not at an ATP.)
have, haven't they? or did i see psychic paramount elsewhere? hmm..
If it's anything like the album it will have a load of different guests and play loads of old Ethiopian stuff. It will be fucking mint and I want to go now.
Festival-that-has-been-going-on-several-times-a-year-for-over-10-years in booking-acts-they've-booked-before shocker!
You'd never get this at any other festival...
1) I will have to get a real money job and go to both December weekends. Both look like they have the potential to be (personal taste wise) the best two ATPs I have been to yet.
2) I will have to get my life sorted, form a new band, get reasonably well known, and support Archers Of Loaf wherever they are doing their own headline show outside of ATP.
Eric Bachmann looks like an e-fit amalgamation of every male DiS poster. At least, he did back then, he now looks more like Tim Harrington with slightly more hair (and slightly less pie).
being added has made me more determined to track down 3 other people I know to split a four person self catering with me (need a fridge to store medication in)
