No activity since October last year. Loved the way he skewered pompous music hacks.
that making a website dedicated to reviewing reviews showed a much higher level of pomposity than the reviews he was attempting to critique.
he was reviewing the reviewers as much as the writing. It just became a kind of sub-Steve Lowe 'everything is shit' starting point, which would only have washed if he'd been entirely pragmatic himself (cf the time a review referenced Subterranean Homesick Blues as a comparison and he groused that it didn't sound anything like Radiohead's Subterranean Homesick Alien)
I just checked (out of some kind of perverse disinterested interest) and noripcord's still going. Surprisingly. This remains the worst review I've ever read of anything http://www.noripcord.com/reviews/music/clap-your-hands-say-yeah/clap-your-hands-say-yeah
Although, in fairness, I think she may have been 15.
I like how she says "next time somebody asks you what Indie Rock sounds like..." not only as if it were something that anybody would ask EVER, but as if it were a question stifling Indie Rock fans on a regular basis.
This has to be one of the worst for me: http://www.noripcord.com/reviews/music/women/public-strain
And what's really uncanny is that both reviewers seem to struggle with the concept that an album could accurately be described as a "collection of songs".
